The kit combines a 250 ml Freeflex No. 1 sodium chloride solution bag with a high-quality Intrafix Air infusion set and a full range of BD IV consumables, including cannulas, needles, dressing and syringe. It is designed for trained healthcare professionals who wish to prepare and deliver prescribed IV vitamin or nutrient infusions by simply adding their preferred licensed vitamins or excipients to the included sodium chloride bag.

Composition

Formulation

  • Single-treatment IV starter kit combining one 250 ml isotonic sodium chloride (0.9%) Freeflex bag with a full complement of single-use IV access and administration devices.
  • Freeflex No. 1 solution is a sodium chloride 0.9% IV fluid presented in a non-PVC, non-DEHP flexible bag with standard ports.
  • Intrafix Air Infusion Set is a medical-grade PVC or PVC-free tubing set with drip chamber, roller clamp and air vent designed for gravity infusion.
  • BD Microlance needles, BD Discardit syringe, BD Venflon cannula and Venofix butterfly cannula are sterile, single-use medical devices with standard Luer/Luer-lock connections.

Packaging

  • Each component (IV bag, infusion set, cannulas, needles, syringe, dressing) is individually sterile-packaged in peel-open medical-grade pouches or manufacturer cartons.

Usage

  • For professional use only; the kit must be used by appropriately trained healthcare professionals working under a valid prescription and local clinical protocols.
  • Verify the integrity and expiry date of each individually packed component before use; do not use if any packaging is damaged or expired.
  • Prepare the IV vitamin or nutrient regimen according to the prescriber’s instructions, referencing each medicine’s official product information.
  • Using aseptic technique, add the prescribed vitamins or excipients to the Freeflex No. 1 sodium chloride bag with the supplied BD syringe and needles, following compatibility and dilution guidelines.
  • Select either the BD Venflon peripheral IV catheter (20G, ported) or the Venofix butterfly cannula (22G) for venous access, and insert according to standard cannulation practice.
  • Secure the IV site with the BD Veca-C Cannula Dressing after establishing venous access.
  • Attach the Intrafix Air Infusion Set to the sodium chloride bag, prime the line carefully to remove air, and then connect to the IV cannula using aseptic technique.
  • Adjust the flow rate using the Intrafix roller clamp and drip chamber to deliver the infusion over the prescribed time, monitoring the patient throughout.
  • Dispose of all sharps and used components in appropriate clinical waste and sharps containers immediately after use; do not reuse any component.
  • Document the infusion, including batch numbers and doses of any medicines added, in the patient’s clinical records in accordance with local documentation requirements.

Contraindications

  • Use is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to 0.9% sodium chloride solution or to any of the added vitamins/medicines as specified in their product information.
  • Do not use in patients where the prescribing clinician has deemed IV therapy or the planned IV vitamin protocol to be clinically inappropriate (for example due to certain cardiac, renal, hepatic or electrolyte disorders).
  • Do not use any item if its sterile packaging is opened, damaged or past the printed expiry date.
  • Not intended for self-administration or use outside a regulated clinical environment with trained healthcare staff.
  • Peripheral IV access should not be established at sites with signs of infection, thrombosis, severe oedema or compromised circulation.

Adverse Effects

  • Follow any specific storage instructions on the Freeflex No. 1 sodium chloride bag (e.g. do not freeze; protect from excessive heat) and any additional medicines to be used with the kit.
  • Keep all components in their original packaging until immediately before use to maintain sterility and product integrity.
  • Store out of reach of unauthorised persons, in accordance with local guidance for medicines and medical devices storage.
  • Do not use any component after the expiry date shown on its packaging.

Duration

The kit is designed for a single IV infusion session. Actual infusion duration (commonly around 30\u201390 minutes) and any repeat treatment schedule are determined by the prescribing clinician based on the chosen IV protocol and patient needs.

Onset

Not fixed for the kit itself; perceived effects such as improved energy or wellbeing depend on the specific vitamins or excipients added, the doses used and individual patient factors.
