Description
Uniswab Alcohol Pre Injection Swabs x 100 (SKU A205) are single-use, individually wrapped pre-injection skin preparation swabs. Each non-woven swab is impregnated with 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to provide rapid skin disinfection prior to injections, venepuncture and similar invasive procedures. Supplied in a box of 100 Class I medical device alcohol pads.

Indications
- Pre-injection skin cleansing prior to subcutaneous, intramuscular or intravenous injections
- Skin disinfection prior to venepuncture or capillary blood sampling
- General small-area skin antisepsis where use of 70% isopropyl alcohol is appropriate
- Use in primary care, hospital, community, podiatry and aesthetic injection settings
Composition
- Active: Isopropyl alcohol 70% (v/v)
- Substrate: Non-woven fabric 50 gsm (approximately 70% polyester, 30% viscose)
- Sachet: Paper / aluminium laminate pouch (approx. 73 g paper aluminium bag)
- Box: Uncoated white card (approx. 350 g card, 100 g box of 100 swabs)
- Carton: Corrugated board outer carton for 10,000 swabs

Usage
- Use for external skin preparation only.
- Tear open the sachet immediately before use and remove the swab.
- Apply the swab to intact skin at the intended injection or venepuncture site.
- Wipe the area thoroughly, typically in one direction, covering the full intended insertion area.
- Allow the skin to air dry completely before performing the injection or procedure.
- Single use only: discard swab and sachet safely after use.
- Keep away from eyes, mucous membranes and open wounds.
- Follow local infection prevention and control protocols when using pre-injection swabs.
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to isopropyl alcohol or any component of the swab.
- Do not apply to open wounds, large areas of damaged or extensively broken skin.
- Avoid use on mucous membranes (e.g. mouth, nose, genital areas) or in the eyes.
- Use with caution in individuals with very sensitive or highly irritated skin.
Adverse Effects
- Transient stinging or burning sensation at the application site.
- Skin dryness or irritation, especially with repeated use on the same area.
- Local redness or contact dermatitis in individuals sensitive to isopropyl alcohol.
- Very rare risk of allergic reaction (e.g. rash, swelling); discontinue use and seek medical advice if suspected.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat sources, sparks and open flames.
- Keep sachets in the original box until use to protect from moisture and contamination.
- Store out of reach of children.
- Dispose of used swabs and packaging according to local clinical waste policies.
Duration
Single-use application immediately prior to the injection or procedure.
Onset
Rapid antiseptic action on application; allow the area to dry fully before injection for optimal effect.
