Alcohol-free universal cleaning and disinfectant wipes

Description

Azo™ Universal Cleaning and Disinfectant Wipes – 200 wipes (CE) are pre-impregnated, alcohol-free, one-step cleaning and disinfectant wipes for non-invasive medical devices and hard surfaces. Each tub contains 200 large 18 × 20 cm wipes, combining a powerful biocide and detergent system to clean and disinfect in a single action. The wipes are proven 99.9999% effective against pathogens and are validated to EN 16615, with additional compliance to EN 14476 (virucidal), EN 1276 (bactericidal) and EN 16615 (fungicidal). They are CE-marked as a medical device, ideal for use in cleanrooms, critical environments, and healthcare settings where rapid, effective decontamination of non-invasive medical devices and environmental surfaces is required.

Bnefits

  • Active alcohol-free technology provides effective one-step cleaning and disinfection of hard surfaces and non-invasive medical devices.
  • Proven 99.9999% effective against harmful pathogens, validated to European standard EN 16615 (4-field test).
  • Effective bacterial action against MRSA, E. coli and a broad range of other microorganisms.
  • Meets virucidal standard EN 14476, bactericidal standard EN 1276 and fungicidal standard EN 16615.
  • Alcohol-free formulation reduces risks of skin irritation, material damage and fumes associated with alcohol products.
  • Large 18 × 20 cm wipe size for efficient coverage of surfaces, reducing time and product consumption.
  • Ideal for use in cleanrooms, critical environments, hospitals, dental and aesthetic clinics, laboratories and other healthcare facilities.
  • CE-marked canister as a medical device and manufactured in the UK to ISO 13485 quality standards.

Indications

  • Cleaning and disinfection of non-invasive medical devices in clinical environments.
  • Environmental decontamination of hard, non-porous surfaces such as worktops, trolleys, couches, treatment chairs and equipment housings.
  • Use in cleanrooms, critical environments, theatres, treatment rooms and laboratories where rapid, validated disinfection is required.
  • Routine infection prevention and control in healthcare, dental, aesthetic and veterinary settings.

Composition

  • Alcohol-free biocidal formulation (exact percentages proprietary), typically including:
  • • Polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) – polymeric biguanide biocide
  • • Quaternary ammonium compounds (e.g. benzalkonium chloride, didecyldimethyl ammonium chloride (DDAC), chlorhexidine digluconate) – cationic surfactant biocides
  • • Non-ionic / amphoteric surfactants – detergent/cleaning agents
  • • Water (purified/deionised) – carrier
  • • pH adjusters and stabilisers
  • Non-woven wipe substrate (synthetic/cellulose blend)
  • Contains poly(hexamethylenebiguanide) hydrochloride; may produce an allergic reaction (per SDS).

Formulation

  • Pre-impregnated, alcohol-free disinfectant and detergent wipes.
  • Non-woven, low-lint wipe material designed for medical and cleanroom use.
  • Ready-to-use, no-rinse, one-step cleaning and disinfection formulation.
  • Broad-spectrum activity (bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal, yeasticidal) when used as directed.
  • Designed specifically for non-invasive medical device surfaces and hard, non-porous environmental surfaces.

Packaging

  • Tub/canister containing 200 pre-impregnated wipes.
  • Wipe size: 18 × 20 cm.
  • Typically supplied as a case of 12 tubs (200 × 12 wipes) for professional use.
  • Resealable flip-top lid to maintain wipe moisture and reduce evaporation.
  • CE-marked canister labelling with product code (AM200WCE), batch number, expiry date and regulatory information.

Usage

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) according to local infection control procedures.
  • Open the tub and withdraw a single wipe; close the lid immediately to prevent wipes drying out.
  • Wipe the surface of the non-invasive medical device or hard, non-porous surface thoroughly, ensuring complete coverage so that the surface is visibly wetted.
  • Allow the surface to remain wet for the required contact time (as per local policy and EN validation; typically up to 1 minute for full spectrum efficacy).
  • Allow to air dry; do not rinse or wipe dry unless specifically required by device manufacturer guidance.
  • Use a new wipe for each separate area or item to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Do not use on skin, open wounds or invasive medical devices.
  • Dispose of used wipes in accordance with local clinical or hazardous waste regulations; do not flush down toilets.

Contraindications

  • Not for use on skin, open wounds or mucous membranes.
  • Do not use on invasive medical devices or where manufacturers contraindicate the use of biguanide/QUAT-based disinfectants.
  • Avoid use on surfaces or materials sensitive to cationic surfactants or disinfectants (e.g. some delicate coatings) unless compatibility has been confirmed.
  • Contraindicated in users with known hypersensitivity to poly(hexamethylenebiguanide) hydrochloride (PHMB), chlorhexidine, quaternary ammonium compounds or other components.
  • Avoid contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

Adverse Effects

  • May cause serious eye irritation if liquid from the wipe contacts the eyes.
  • Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause dryness or irritation; PHMB and other biocides may provoke allergic contact dermatitis in sensitised individuals.
  • Inhalation of vapours or aerosols from extensive use in poorly ventilated areas may cause mild respiratory irritation in susceptible persons.
  • If allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling) or persistent irritation occur, discontinue use and seek medical advice.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
  • Keep the canister tightly closed when not in use to prevent wipes drying out.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Store in original packaging and avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Dispose of empty canisters and unused wipes in accordance with local regulations.

Duration

Used as needed for routine and ad-hoc surface/device decontamination. Each application provides rapid disinfection during the specified contact time (often 30\u201360 seconds); frequency of use is determined by local cleaning schedules and infection control policies.

Onset

Fast acting; effective against many pathogens in as little as 30 seconds, with 99.9999% reduction of validated organisms within 1 minute when used as directed.
