Safety shoes / composite safety footwear

Description

Blackrock Composite Safety Shoes (code FW522) are lightweight, metal-free safety shoes designed for demanding work environments. They feature a water-resistant leather upper with padded collar, a metal-free composite high-resistance toe cap and midsole instead of steel, a double-density polyurethane shock-absorbent sole, and a fully moulded, removable insole. The wide fitting provides enhanced all-day comfort, while the slip-resistant sole and S3 SRC certification ensure reliable protection in industrial, healthcare and facilities settings.

Bnefits

  • Metal-free composite toe cap and midsole provide high-impact and penetration protection without the weight of steel
  • Double-density polyurethane shock-absorbent sole helps reduce fatigue during long shifts on hard floors
  • Water-resistant leather upper helps keep feet dry in wet or spill-prone environments
  • Padded collar improves ankle comfort and reduces rubbing during prolonged wear
  • Fully moulded, removable insole enhances cushioning and allows replacement with custom insoles if required
  • Wide fitting design increases comfort for broader feet and reduces pressure points
  • Slip-resistant sole with SRC rating offers reliable grip on wet and oily surfaces
  • Conforms to EN20345 S3 SRC, providing certified safety performance for professional use

Indications

  • Use as safety footwear in tough industrial, construction, warehouse and logistics environments
  • Suitable for facilities, engineering, maintenance and trade roles requiring S3 SRC certified safety footwear
  • Appropriate for healthcare, hospital and clinical support staff who need protective safety shoes rather than clogs or trainers
  • Recommended where metal-free safety footwear is required (e.g. security-controlled or metal detector environments)
  • Use in workplaces where floors may be wet, oily or contaminated and slip resistance is important

Composition

  • Upper: water-resistant leather with padded collar
  • Toe cap: metal-free composite high-resistance safety toe (200 J impact protection, S3 standard)
  • Midsole: metal-free composite penetration-resistant midsole
  • Outsole: double-density polyurethane (PU) shock-absorbent, slip-resistant sole
  • Insole: fully moulded, removable comfort insole
  • Lining: textile lining (typical for safety shoes; exact material not specified)
  • Fastening: lace-up closure

Formulation

  • Low-cut lace-up composite safety shoe construction
  • Metal-free protective components (toe cap and midsole) to reduce weight and avoid interference with metal detection
  • Dual-density PU outsole engineered for shock absorption and slip resistance
  • Water-resistant leather upper with padded collar for comfort and durability
  • Wide-fit last to provide extra internal volume and comfort for broader feet

Packaging

  • Supplied as one pair of safety shoes (left and right) per retail box
  • Packed in a branded shoe box suitable for storage and transport
  • Box labelled with size, product code FW522, safety rating EN20345 S3 SRC and brand identification

Usage

  • Select the correct shoe size and width for the wearer to ensure proper fit and safety performance.
  • Before first use, inspect shoes for any visible defects or damage; do not use if the safety toe, sole or upper is compromised.
  • Wear with appropriate work socks to optimise comfort and moisture management.
  • Ensure laces are securely tied and adjusted so the foot is held firmly without excessive pressure.
  • Use for work tasks requiring S3 SRC safety footwear; do not exceed the intended use (e.g. not for mountaineering or sports).
  • Regularly clean the leather upper with a damp cloth and suitable leather cleaner; allow to dry away from direct heat sources.
  • Inspect soles, toe cap area and midsole regularly for signs of excessive wear, cracking or delamination; replace shoes if safety performance may be compromised.
  • Remove and air the insole after long shifts to reduce odour and moisture build-up; replace insole when worn.
  • Store shoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place when not in use.
  • Do not modify or drill the shoe, toe cap or sole, as this may void safety certification.

Contraindications

  • Not suitable as non-safety casual footwear where rigid toe caps may be uncomfortable or unnecessary.
  • Not recommended for individuals with foot conditions requiring specialised orthopaedic footwear without professional assessment.
  • Should not be used if the composite toe cap, midsole or outsole is visibly damaged, punctured or excessively worn.
  • Not designed for environments requiring specialist footwear beyond S3 SRC (e.g. high-heat foundry work, electrical hazard specific standards).

Adverse Effects

  • Potential for blisters, rubbing or discomfort if incorrect size or socks are used.
  • Prolonged use without adequate breaks may contribute to foot fatigue if footwear is not correctly fitted.
  • If worn when damaged, may fail to provide adequate protection against impact, penetration or slips.
  • Allergic reactions are possible in individuals sensitive to components of leather, adhesives or synthetic materials used in the shoe.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat to prevent degradation of leather and PU sole.
  • Allow shoes to dry naturally at room temperature if they become wet; avoid placing directly on radiators or heaters.
  • Keep away from oils, solvents and strong chemicals when not in use to prevent material damage.
  • Store in original box or on a ventilated shoe rack to maintain shape and allow air circulation.

Duration

Intended for daily occupational use over the lifespan of the shoe; replace when outsole, upper or safety components show significant wear or damage.

Onset

Provides impact, penetration and slip resistance as soon as the shoes are correctly fitted and worn.
