Description

The Carell Shampoo Cap is a simple, quick and easy-to-use rinse-free, pre-saturated shampoo cap from GAMA Healthcare’s Carell / Clinell Bed Bath range. Designed for use on dry hair when traditional hair washing or bathing is not an option, the single-use cap is impregnated with a gentle shampoo-and-conditioner solution. When placed over the hair and massaged for 2–3 minutes, it removes oil, grease and dirt from the hair and scalp, leaving hair feeling clean, soft and healthy without the need for water or rinsing. The cap can be used at room temperature or gently warmed for additional comfort and is ideal for use with bedbound or incapacitated patients in hospitals, care homes and community care. The cap material is a soft, absorbent non-woven (~120 GSM) that distributes the solution evenly across the scalp and hair.

Indications

  • Rinse-free cleansing and conditioning of hair and scalp for bedbound or incapacitated patients.
  • Use in hospitals, nursing and care homes, hospices and community or home-care settings where hair washing with water is difficult or impractical.
  • Situations where traditional hair washing would cause discomfort or is contraindicated (for example immediately post-surgery, during certain treatments or where access to bathing facilities is limited).
  • Convenient hair care for patients during long hospital stays or limited-mobility periods.

Composition

  • Cap material: soft, absorbent non-woven material, approximately 120 GSM.
  • Impregnating solution: water-based shampoo and conditioner mixture formulated for rinse-free use on hair and scalp.
  • Typical cosmetic components (as indicated in safety and product data): mild surfactants, conditioning agents, moisturisers, preservatives and fragrance, blended to cleanse and condition without subsequent rinsing (exact INCI list provided on pack and in SDS).
  • Product supplied as a mixture that is not classified as hazardous at the concentrations present according to EU cosmetic and chemical safety assessments.

Usage

  • Ensure hair is dry before use. Do not use on soaking wet hair.
  • The cap can be used at room temperature or gently warmed. To warm: store in an approved wipe/ cap warmer or microwave the sealed sachet for approximately 15 seconds (time may vary with microwave power). Always test the cap temperature on the inside of the wrist before application. Do not overheat and do not reheat the same cap.
  • Remove the cap from the sachet and unfold it.
  • Place the shampoo cap over the patient’s hair, ensuring all hair is covered and the cap is comfortably positioned around the head.
  • Massage the head gently all over for 2–3 minutes to make sure the hair and scalp are completely saturated with the shampoo solution.
  • For longer hair, remove the cap after initial massaging and work the remaining solution through the lengths and ends of the hair with the hands to ensure thorough cleansing.
  • No rinsing is required. After massaging, remove the cap and towel dry the hair if required to remove any excess moisture.
  • Style hair as usual once mostly dry.
  • Dispose of the used cap and sachet in an appropriate waste container according to local waste management policies. Do not reuse the cap.
  • For external use on hair and scalp only; avoid contact with eyes. If eye contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Contraindications

  • Do not use on patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients listed on the cap sachet or safety data sheet.
  • Avoid use on broken or extensively damaged areas of scalp skin unless advised by a healthcare professional.
  • Not intended for use on infants or young children unless specifically approved by a clinician, due to differences in skin and scalp sensitivity.
  • Do not use if the sachet is damaged, leaking or previously opened, or if the cap appears contaminated.
  • Take special care when warming the cap; do not use if overheated, scorched or damaged.

Adverse Effects

  • Mild, transient irritation or redness of the scalp or skin may occur in individuals with very sensitive skin.
  • Rare allergic or hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. itching, rash, swelling) to components of the shampoo solution or fragrance; discontinue use and seek medical advice if such reactions occur.
  • Eye irritation may occur if solution enters the eyes; flush immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical help if irritation persists.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
  • Keep sachets in their original outer packaging until use to protect from physical damage and excess temperature variation.
  • Do not freeze; avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures outside those indicated on the packaging or SDS.
  • Observe the product’s expiry date printed on each sachet or outer carton and do not use after this date.
