Rinse-free bed bath wipes
Description
Clinell Patient Bathing Wipes - Pack of 8 (also known as Clinell Bedbath Wipes) are large, soft, rinse-free bathing wipes designed to clean and moisturise all areas of the body in a single easy step. They provide a convenient alternative to traditional bed bathing with bowls, washcloths, soap, lotions and towels, helping to reduce laundry costs and nursing time. Each pack of 8 wipes is intended for a complete full-body wash: one wipe per body area including face, neck, chest, right arm, left arm, perineum, right leg, left leg, back and buttocks. The wipes are dermatologically tested, alcohol- and lanolin-free and contain a patented skin pH–neutral formula with aloe vera and added moisturisers to promote healthy, soft skin. They can be used straight from the pack at room temperature or warmed in an approved Clinell warmer for enhanced patient comfort, making them ideal for bedbound patients, those with limited mobility or in situations where showering is not possible.

- Slightly fragranced (light rose-type perfume) to provide a pleasant bathing experience.
Packaging
- One soft, sealed flow-wrap pack containing 8 large pre-moistened bed bath wipes.
- Pack printed with Clinell branding, product name (Patient Bathing Wipes / Bedbath Wipes), directions for use and key features (rinse-free, alcohol- and lanolin-free, pH neutral, with aloe vera and moisturisers).
- Peelable resealable label to allow removal of wipes one at a time while helping to maintain moisture when resealed between uses.
- Each case or shipping carton typically contains multiple packs (e.g. 10 or more) for institutional supply.
- Pack size and format designed to be compatible with Clinell bed bath warmers for optional warming before use.
Usage
- Ensure the patient is positioned comfortably and privacy is maintained in accordance with local care protocols.
- If desired, warm the unopened pack in a compatible Clinell warmer according to the warmer manufacturer’s instructions. Alternatively, use the wipes at room temperature.
- Open the pack by peeling back the resealable label and remove one wipe, then reseal the pack promptly to prevent drying.
- Use one wipe per body area in a logical sequence, for example: 1) face, 2) neck and chest, 3) right arm, 4) left arm, 5) perineum, 6) right leg, 7) left leg, 8) back and buttocks.
- For each area, gently wipe the skin, ensuring thorough coverage and attention to skin folds and creases. Do not rinse; allow the skin to air dry briefly.
- Avoid reusing a wipe on multiple body areas to minimise cross-contamination; discard each wipe after use on its designated area.
- If an area is heavily soiled (e.g. after incontinence), remove gross soiling first in accordance with local protocol, then use a fresh wipe for final cleansing.
- After completing the full body wash, ensure the patient is dry and comfortable, and dispose of all used wipes in an appropriate waste container. Do not flush wipes down the toilet and do not macerate.
- Use additional packs or wipes if clinically indicated (e.g. for larger patients or where more frequent cleansing is required).
- Follow local infection-prevention and skin-care guidelines alongside product instructions.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for use on patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients (e.g. decylamine oxide, fragrance components, aloe vera or other additives).
- Avoid use on severely broken, extensively damaged or infected skin unless advised by a healthcare professional.
- Not intended for use on mucous membranes (e.g. inside the mouth, eyes or nasal passages).
- Do not use as a substitute for required antiseptic or antimicrobial skin preparation where clinical protocols specify specific products (e.g. chlorhexidine washes for certain surgical procedures).
- If significant irritation, redness or rash develops, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
Adverse Effects
- Product is generally well tolerated; however, prolonged or repeated use may rarely cause mild skin irritation or dryness in susceptible individuals.
- Mild eye irritation may occur if the lotion from the wipe accidentally enters the eyes; eyes should be rinsed carefully with water if this happens.
- Very rare allergic or hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. redness, itching, rash or swelling) may occur due to sensitivity to one or more ingredients; if these occur, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
- Accidental ingestion of the liquid from the wipes may cause minor gastrointestinal upset and should be managed according to medical guidance.
Storage Conditions
- Store packs in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight.
- Do not allow packs to freeze; freezing may affect the integrity of the wipes and formulation.
- Keep the pack tightly sealed when not in use to prevent the wipes from drying out.
- Store away from strong oxidising agents or incompatible chemicals.
- Keep out of reach of children and unauthorised persons.
- If using a warming cabinet or Clinell warmer, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for temperature control and maximum warming duration, and do not overheat.
Duration
Used for individual bathing episodes as required. A single pack of 8 wipes is intended for one full-body bed bath; frequency of use depends on patient needs and local bathing protocols (e.g. daily bed baths or more often if required).
Onset
Cleansing and moisturising effects are immediate upon use, with skin feeling clean and refreshed once each area has been wiped and allowed to dry.
