Usage

  • Check compatibility of the surface or device with Clinell Universal Wipes and local infection control policy before use.
  • Open the pack using the resealable label and pull out a single wipe.
  • Wipe the entire surface, ensuring full coverage; pay particular attention to high-touch areas, joints and crevices.
  • Ensure the surface remains visibly wet for the full recommended contact time (from 10 seconds; allow up to 1 minute for certain viruses such as norovirus).
  • Allow the surface or device to air dry; do not wipe dry.
  • Dispose of the used wipe in the appropriate clinical or domestic waste stream; do not flush.
  • Close the resealable label carefully after use to minimise drying out of remaining wipes.
  • For heavily soiled surfaces, a preliminary clean (removal of visible organic matter) may be required before disinfection.
  • Do not use on invasive medical devices or where the device manufacturer advises against use of quaternary ammonium/PHMB-based disinfectants.

Contraindications

  • Not for use on invasive medical devices.
  • Not intended for direct application to broken skin, mucous membranes or eyes.
  • Do not use on instruments or devices where the manufacturer prohibits quaternary ammonium or PHMB-based disinfectants.
  • Avoid use on surfaces that are incompatible with water-based disinfectants (e.g. some unsealed wood, certain delicate materials) without prior compatibility testing.
  • Do not mix with or immediately follow application of anionic detergents or soaps, which can reduce product effectiveness.

Adverse Effects

  • May cause mild skin irritation in individuals with sensitive skin or after prolonged/repeated contact.
  • May cause transient eye irritation if contact occurs.
  • Rare risk of allergic skin reaction in individuals sensitised to quaternary ammonium compounds, PHMB, preservatives or fragrance components.
  • Ingestion of the liquid from the wipe may cause gastrointestinal discomfort and requires medical advice.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight.
  • Do not allow the product to freeze.
  • Keep the pack tightly closed when not in use to prevent wipes drying out.
