Post-treatment skin barrier spray for injection sites

Description

Derma-Seal is an award-winning post-procedure protection spray developed to reduce the risk of post-treatment infection following aesthetic and cosmetic procedures that break the skin barrier. Manufactured in the UK and designed for use after treatments involving needles, cannulas, lasers or similar devices, it forms a clear, sterile, film-like skin over microscopic puncture wounds, sealing the injection points within minutes. This impervious barrier helps protect against contamination from make-up, fingers, hair, face masks and other environmental sources while the skin heals. Derma-Seal allows patients to reapply make-up shortly after treatment and is positioned as a convenient, professional-use clinic consumable for cosmetic surgeons, aesthetic practitioners and semi-permanent make-up specialists.

Bnefits

  • Reduces the risk of post-treatment infection at injection and puncture sites by sealing the skin surface
  • Forms a clear, sterile, film-like barrier over microscopic puncture wounds created by needles, cannulas or similar devices
  • Creates an impervious barrier to environmental contaminants such as make-up, hair, fingers and face masks after treatment
  • Helps prevent bacteria and debris from entering open micro-channels before the skin has fully healed
  • Allows patients to apply cosmetic make-up soon after aesthetic procedures when used as directed
  • Provides additional reassurance to cosmetic surgeons, nurse prescribers and semi-permanent make-up practitioners regarding post-procedure care
  • Post-procedure only application is quick and simple in the clinic (spray on area or onto sterile gauze and dab)
  • Designed specifically for the aesthetic medicine and cosmetic surgery sector, including injectables and semi-permanent make-up
  • Manufactured in the UK and recognised with aesthetic industry awards for post-treatment innovation and patient safety

Indications

  • Post-treatment protection of injection and puncture sites following aesthetic procedures that break the epidermal barrier
  • Use after botulinum toxin injections and dermal filler treatments
  • Post-procedure care following semi-permanent make-up or cosmetic tattooing
  • Adjunctive protection after other minimally invasive or energy-based procedures creating small dermal abrasions or punctures, such as microneedling, non-surgical blepharoplasty, laser for acne scarring, tissue stimulation, cellulite treatments (e.g. Cellfina), plasma treatments, mole/wart removal and tattoo removal, where the practitioner deems a surface barrier appropriate
  • Situations where patients are likely to unintentionally touch their face, wear masks, or reapply make-up shortly after treatment, increasing contamination risk
  • Clinics seeking to enhance their standard post-procedure protocol with a dedicated barrier product for injection points

Composition

    Formulation

    • Film-forming post-treatment spray that creates a clear, sterile barrier layer over treated skin
    • Designed for use on and around injection points and small procedure sites rather than as a general all-over skincare product
    • Marketed in European sources as a 32.5 ml medical device spray for post-treatment skin protection

    Packaging

    • One clinic-use bottle of Derma-Seal post-treatment spray (approximately 32.5 ml), supplied as a medical device
    • Primary packaging designed for hand-held use in the treatment room for direct spraying or application via sterile gauze
    • Outer carton/labeling identifying Derma-Seal as a post-procedure skin protection product for aesthetic and cosmetic use

    Usage

    • Professional use: Derma-Seal is intended for use by trained medical cosmetic practitioners as a post-procedure product.
    • Timing: Apply immediately after completion of the procedure, once any bleeding has been controlled and the treatment area has been cleaned according to clinic protocol.
    • Application area: Use only on and around the injection or puncture sites and other small procedure areas, on intact surrounding skin.
    • Method 1 – Direct spray (clinic use only): Spray Derma-Seal directly onto the injection point area while carefully shielding the eyes and any mucous membranes. Do not spray into or near the eyes.
    • Method 2 – Sterile gauze (recommended, especially on the face): Spray Derma-Seal onto a sterile gauze pad, then gently dab each injection point or treated area with the gauze, using a fresh area of gauze as needed to avoid cross-contamination. Wipe away any excess product as directed.
    • Eye protection: Always protect the patient’s eyes if spraying near the face. Never spray directly into or near the eyes or onto mucosal surfaces.
    • Absorption: Allow the product to absorb and form the protective film. European distributor information indicates that the spray is absorbed in roughly 60 seconds while forming the protective layer.
    • Post-application care: Once the film has formed, the injection points are protected by an impervious barrier that is water-resistant and remains on the skin for several hours.
    • Make-up use: After a short period (e.g. once the film has fully formed), patients may apply make-up to the treated area in line with clinic advice, as Derma-Seal is designed to allow make-up application soon after procedures.
    • Patient advice: Continue to advise patients not to pick or scratch at treated areas, and to follow all additional post-procedure instructions given by the practitioner.
    • Reuse: Use a fresh application for each treatment session and avoid using the same gauze or applicator on multiple patients.

    Contraindications

    • Do not use on patients with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to any component of the product (ingredients list should be checked where available).
    • Not for use on large open wounds, heavily bleeding areas, or clinically infected skin lesions that require medical treatment beyond a topical barrier.
    • Avoid use on severely compromised, ulcerated or extensively diseased skin unless under explicit medical guidance.
    • Do not apply directly into or around the eyes, inside the nose, mouth or on other mucous membranes.
    • Use with caution in patients with a history of severe contact dermatitis or known sensitivity to film-forming sprays or adhesives.
    • Not intended as a replacement for aseptic technique, standard disinfectants or systemic therapy where these are clinically indicated.

    Adverse Effects

    • Transient stinging, warmth or tightness at the application site immediately after spraying.
    • Mild, short-lived erythema or irritation at treated points, particularly in very sensitive skin.
    • Potential for contact dermatitis or allergic reaction in individuals sensitive to one or more components of the formulation (e.g. redness, itching, swelling, rash); discontinue use and seek medical advice if such reactions occur.
    • Rarely, occlusion-related effects such as increased local heat or discomfort beneath the barrier film in predisposed individuals.
    • As with any topical barrier product, improper application on unclean skin or clinically infected lesions could theoretically contribute to persistence or worsening of infection; therefore, correct pre-cleaning and clinical judgement are essential.

    Storage Conditions

    • Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
    • Keep the container tightly closed when not in use, following any additional storage guidance on the primary packaging.
    • As a clinic consumable used post-procedure, store in accordance with general medical device and topical product handling standards (clean environment, controlled conditions).
    • Keep out of the reach of children and do not allow patients to self-apply unless specifically instructed by a healthcare professional.

    Duration

Derma-Seal is used as a single-application, post-procedure product at the end of each treatment session. Clinic and distributor descriptions indicate that the protective film forms within about 60 seconds and remains on the skin for several hours (commonly cited as up to approximately 12 hours) before naturally wearing off. One bottle is described by the manufacturer as sufficient for roughly 20 individual clients when treating multiple (6\u20138) injection points per treatment session, depending on usage patterns.

    Onset

The barrier effect begins within minutes of application. Product information from European distributors indicates that the spray is absorbed and forms a protective film in around 60 seconds, with an impervious barrier present within a few minutes of application, allowing make-up to be applied shortly afterwards in accordance with professional advice.
