    Description

Disposable flexible catheter mount designed for connection between an endotracheal (ET) tube and breathing or ventilator circuit. Intended for single patient use, non-sterile, with a standard size fitment compatible with all standard ET tubes and an access port for suction catheters, helping to reduce circuit drag and facilitate airway management in anaesthesia, critical care and emergency settings.

    Bnefits

    • Single patient use design helps reduce cross-contamination between patients by discarding the mount after each use.
    • Flexible section provides strain relief and minimises tugging or drag on the ET tube from the breathing circuit.
    • Standard size fitment allows connection to all standard ET tubes and breathing circuits in accordance with common airway connector dimensions.
    • Integrated suction catheter access port enables airway suctioning without repeatedly disconnecting the breathing circuit.
    • Non-sterile, ready-to-use product suitable for routine operating theatre, ICU and emergency department use where sterile field is not required.
    • Lightweight construction supports patient comfort and reduces torque on the airway.
    • Compatible with a wide range of ventilator and anaesthetic breathing circuits for versatile clinical use.

    Indications

    • To connect an endotracheal tube (ET) to a breathing or ventilator circuit in anaesthesia, intensive care or emergency ventilation.
    • To provide flexible, low-drag linkage between patient airway and circuit, reducing movement and potential trauma to the trachea.
    • To allow suction catheter access to the airway via an integrated port during mechanical ventilation or assisted ventilation.
    • Use in operating theatres, recovery, ICU, high-dependency units, emergency departments and pre-hospital settings where ET tubes are used.

    Composition

    • Medical-grade plastic (flexible corrugated tube and connectors).

    Formulation

    • Non-sterile, single-use flexible catheter mount.
    • Standard airway connectors designed to fit all standard ET tubes and breathing circuits.
    • Incorporates suction catheter access port.

    Packaging

    • Supplied as a single disposable flexible catheter mount per unit.
    • Standard size fitment suitable for all ET tubes.
    • Typically individually packaged for clinical use.
    • Approximate UK selling price around £4–£5 per unit including VAT (price may vary by retailer and over time).

    Usage

    • Verify that the catheter mount packaging is intact and that the product is within its stated shelf life before use.
    • Open the packaging using aseptic technique appropriate to the clinical environment.
    • Attach one end of the catheter mount securely to the patient’s endotracheal (ET) tube connector, ensuring a tight fit.
    • Connect the other end of the catheter mount to the breathing or ventilator circuit, confirming secure engagement of the standard connectors.
    • If suctioning is required, introduce a compatible suction catheter through the designated suction access port according to local protocols.
    • Monitor for any signs of leakage, disconnection or kinking of the mount during ventilation and reposition if necessary.
    • At the end of use or upon patient extubation, disconnect the catheter mount from both the ET tube and breathing circuit.
    • Dispose of the used catheter mount in an appropriate clinical waste container according to local infection control and waste disposal policies.
    • Do not attempt to clean, disinfect or reuse the catheter mount; use a new device for each patient.

    Contraindications

    • Do not use if the packaging is damaged or if the catheter mount appears deformed or cracked.
    • Not suitable where a sterile airway connection is specifically required; this product is non-sterile.
    • Do not use with non-standard airway connectors that are incompatible with the mount’s standard fittings.
    • Not intended for reuse; reuse may increase risk of cross-contamination or device failure.

    Adverse Effects

    • Potential for airway or tracheal trauma if excessive torque or drag is transmitted to the ET tube due to incorrect positioning.
    • Risk of leak, disconnection or inadequate ventilation if connectors are not properly seated or if the mount is damaged.
    • Possible obstruction of airflow if the mount becomes kinked, occluded or filled with secretions.
    • Inadequate suctioning or contamination risk if suction catheter access port is misused or not closed according to local practice.

    Storage Conditions

    • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
    • Keep in original packaging until time of use to protect from dust and contamination.
    • Avoid storing under heavy objects or in positions that could deform or damage the flexible tubing or connectors.

    Duration

For the duration of a single episode of mechanical or assisted ventilation for one patient; intended for single patient use only.

    Onset

Immediate functional effect once connected between the ET tube and breathing circuit.
