Hypodermic 2-piece Luer syringe without needle (non-sterile)
Description
Injekt 5ml Non-Sterile Syringe Special Pack x 1000 is a bulk pack of B. Braun Injekt 2-piece syringes supplied non-sterile and without needles, designed for non-critical applications such as preparation, measuring, transfer and aspiration of fluids where sterility of the syringe itself is not required. Each syringe features a 5 ml nominal capacity (total graduated capacity approximately 6 ml), a Luer eccentric slip cone, a highly transparent polypropylene barrel and a green polyethylene plunger. The high-contrast black graduation (0.2 ml divisions) supports precise dosing and reading, while the integrated plunger backstop helps prevent accidental plunger withdrawal. The syringes are silicone oil-free and not manufactured with PVC, DEHP, Bisphenol A (BPA) or natural rubber latex, and conform to EN ISO 7886-1 requirements for hypodermic syringes.
Bnefits
- Non-sterile 2-piece syringes supplied in a high-volume special pack of 1000, ideal for preparation and non-critical applications.
- 5 ml nominal volume with total graduated capacity up to approximately 6 ml, providing extra headroom for mixing and preparation.
- Luer eccentric slip cone allows easy attachment of compatible needles, connectors or tubing where appropriate.
- Highly transparent polypropylene barrel with black 0.2 ml graduation for clear, accurate volume reading.
- Green polyethylene plunger offers good visibility and contrast for precise dosage control.
- Safe plunger backstop helps prevent unintentional plunger withdrawal and loss of contents.
- Not manufactured with silicone oil, PVC, DEHP, Bisphenol A (BPA) or latex, improving material compatibility and patient safety.
- Conforms to EN ISO 7886-1 for hypodermic syringes, providing consistent quality and performance.
- Versatile use across preparation, aspiration, mixing and non-sterile procedures in hospital, clinic, lab and veterinary environments.
- Economical bulk packaging reduces waste per unit and simplifies stock management for high-use settings.
Indications
- Preparation, measuring and transfer of liquids in clinical, pharmacy and laboratory settings where non-sterile syringes are acceptable.
- Admixture and dilution of drugs into infusion bags or bottles in controlled environments when the syringe does not need to be sterile (e.g. for subsequent sterilisation or in validated clean processes).
- Aspiration and transfer of non-sterile fluids for laboratory analysis or processing in combination with appropriate devices.
- Flushing, rinsing or dosing in non-critical applications such as irrigation of equipment, filling of reservoirs, or oral/enteral dosing when compatible tips or adaptors are used and institutional protocols allow.
- Use in veterinary or industrial applications where sterility of the syringe is not required but accurate volume measurement is needed.
Composition
- Barrel: Transparent polypropylene (PP).
- Plunger: Green polyethylene (PE).
- Glide characteristics: Silicone oil-free (no silicone oil used as lubricant).
- Not manufactured with Polyvinylchloride (PVC).
- Not manufactured with Diethylhexylphthalate (DEHP).
- Not manufactured with Bisphenol A (BPA).
- Not manufactured with natural rubber latex.
Formulation
- 2-piece hypodermic syringe (barrel and plunger only, no separate rubber piston).
- Nominal capacity: 5 ml; total graduated capacity: approx. 6 ml.
- Graduation: 0.2 ml increments in ml scale.
- Cone: Luer slip eccentric connection.
- Colour: Transparent barrel with black graduation and green plunger.
- Non-sterile, single-use device, conforming to EN ISO 7886-1 for hypodermic syringes.
Packaging
- Special bulk pack containing 1000 non-sterile Injekt 5 ml syringes.
- Syringes supplied non-sterile, typically in inner bags or sleeves within an outer carton (configuration may vary by market).
- Outer carton labelled with B. Braun Injekt branding, manufacturer reference (4606051V or equivalent non-sterile variant), lot number, and product description including "non-sterile".
- Intended for single use; syringes should be discarded after one use according to local waste regulations.
Usage
- Verify that the packaging is intact and that the product is clearly marked as non-sterile; ensure the intended use is compatible with non-sterile devices.
- Select the appropriate syringe volume (5 ml) and remove it from the bulk packaging using clean handling procedures consistent with the application (e.g. clean bench or preparation area).
- If required, attach a compatible needle, connector or tubing to the Luer eccentric slip cone, ensuring a secure fit to prevent leakage.
- To aspirate, pull the plunger back smoothly while the tip is immersed in the liquid or connected to the source, observing the 0.2 ml graduations for accurate volume measurement.
- For dispensing or transfer, gently depress the plunger to expel the fluid at the desired rate into the target container, line or system.
- Avoid drawing the plunger beyond the integrated backstop to prevent detachment and loss of contents.
- Do not use these non-sterile syringes for direct injection into the human body unless they have been sterilised and such use is explicitly permitted under local regulations and institutional protocols.
- Do not use for parenteral administration, intrathecal, intraocular or any other sterile-critical procedures unless the syringe has been adequately sterilised and validated for that purpose.
- After use, dispose of the syringe (and any attached needle or device) as clinical or laboratory waste in accordance with local regulations; do not attempt to clean or reuse.
- Store remaining syringes in their original packaging or a clean, dry container to protect from dust and contamination between uses.
Contraindications
- Do not use where a sterile syringe is required (e.g. direct parenteral injections, intrathecal, intraocular, or other invasive sterile procedures) unless the syringe has been sterilised and validated in line with regulatory and institutional requirements.
- Do not use if the syringe is visibly damaged, cracked, discoloured or shows signs of contamination.
- Do not reuse; reuse of single-use syringes may increase the risk of infection, cross-contamination and mechanical failure.
- Do not use in combination with fluids or chemicals known to be incompatible with polypropylene or polyethylene.
- Do not use beyond the recommended temperature or chemical exposure limits specified by the manufacturer.
Adverse Effects
- The syringe itself has no pharmacological effect; potential adverse events are related to improper use, such as contamination, incorrect dosage or inappropriate use in place of a sterile device.
- Use of a non-sterile syringe in applications requiring sterility may increase the risk of infection or pyrogenic reactions.
- Incorrect attachment of needles or connectors may lead to leakage or accidental disconnection during use, potentially resulting in spills or incorrect dosing.
- Forceful manipulation of the plunger or cone may cause mechanical failure, spillage or loss of sample.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a clean, dry environment in the original packaging to protect from dust and mechanical damage.
- Keep away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and moisture.
- Observe any storage temperature recommendations provided by the manufacturer (typically room temperature); avoid freezing or exposure to temperatures outside the specified range.
- Do not use after any indicated shelf-life or recommended use-by date if provided.
- Keep out of reach of children and unauthorised personnel, in accordance with local medical device storage policies.
Duration
Not applicable; the syringe is a non-sterile single-use device intended for short, procedure-based use and is typically used and discarded immediately after a single preparation, transfer or aspiration task.
Onset
Not applicable to the device itself; it functions as a mechanical tool for fluid handling. Any clinical onset of effect is determined by the medication or solution administered using an appropriate sterile delivery system.
