Fine dosage hypodermic syringe (2-piece, Luer Solo, 1 ml)
Description
Injekt®-F Solo 2-piece Fine Dosage Syringe 1 ml is a single-use, needle-free hypodermic syringe from B. Braun designed for highly precise small-volume dosing. The 1 ml syringe features a fine 0.01 ml graduation scale, a centric Luer connector, a highly transparent polypropylene barrel and a green polyethylene plunger. A special displacement spike (low dead space design) minimises residual volume and reduces unnecessary loss of medication, while the safe plunger backstop helps prevent unintentional plunger withdrawal. The syringe is silicone oil-free and not manufactured with PVC, DEHP, Bisphenol A (BPA) or latex, and is produced according to ISO 7886-1. It is supplied sterile, individually packed, in boxes of 100, and is suitable for precise injections such as tuberculin, heparin and allergy tests as well as general fine-dosage applications.
Bnefits
- Fine 0.01 ml graduation for precise dosage of very small volumes.
- Highly transparent barrel with high-contrast black graduation and green plunger for excellent readability and exact dosing.
- Displacement spike (low dead space) reduces residual volume and minimises unnecessary loss of medication.
- Safe plunger backstop helps prevent unintentional plunger withdrawal and loss of fluid.
- 2-piece construction (barrel and plunger) with smooth operation and easy aspiration up to maximum volume.
- Centric Luer cone for secure connection to compatible needles, connectors and devices.
- Silicone oil-free and not manufactured with PVC, DEHP, BPA or latex, supporting compatibility with sensitive patients and medications.
- Manufactured according to ISO 7886-1 for single-use hypodermic syringes.
- No gender or age-related limitations; can be used for adults, paediatric and neonatal patients.
- Supplied sterile, individually packed, box of 100, supporting safe single-use in clinical practice.
Indications
- Fine-dosage aspiration and injection of fluids via clinically intended access routes (e.g. intravascular, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intracutaneous, intrathecal, intranasal, enteral, intraurethral, intravaginal, joint and soft tissue injections) in combination with appropriate medical devices.
- Precise small-volume injections such as tuberculin tests, heparin administration and allergy tests where 0.01 ml graduation is advantageous.
- Admixture of drugs to infusion solutions according to the SPC of the medication, in combination with suitable medical devices.
- Extraction of small volumes of body fluids and tissue via aspiration together with adequate medical devices (e.g. needles, catheters).
- Use wherever 2-piece fine-dosage syringes are prescribed as part of infusion therapy, injection therapy, nutrition therapy or sampling procedures.
- Use in adults, paediatric and neonatal patients without gender or age-related limitations when a 1 ml fine dosage syringe is indicated.
Composition
- Barrel made of highly transparent polypropylene (PP).
- Plunger made of polyethylene (PE), coloured green.
- Fine graduation scale with 0.01 ml intervals, permanent black printing.
- Displacement spike (low dead space tip) to minimise residual volume.
- Not manufactured with silicone oil.
- Not manufactured with Polyvinylchloride (PVC).
- Not manufactured with Diethylhexylphthalate (DEHP).
- Not manufactured with Bisphenol A (BPA).
- Not manufactured with natural rubber latex.
Formulation
- 2-piece hypodermic fine dosage syringe (barrel + plunger, no separate rubber piston).
- Type: Injekt®-F Luer Solo, fine dosage syringe for single-use without needle.
- Nominal capacity: 1.0 ml.
- Total graduated capacity: 1.0 ml.
- Maximum usable capacity: approximately 1.10 ml.
- Scale value: 0.01 ml increments.
- Cone style: Luer connector, centric position.
- Silicone oil-free, latex-free, PVC-free and DEHP-free design.
- Manufactured according to ISO 7886-1.
Packaging
- Box of 100 pcs Injekt®-F Solo 1 ml fine dosage syringes.
- Each syringe individually sterile-packed in peel-open packaging.
- Outer carton labelled with product name, Injekt®-F Luer Solo, article code 9166017V, lot number and expiry date.
- Single-use device; intended for one-time use and disposal after the procedure.
Usage
- Verify that the syringe packaging is intact and within its expiry date before use; only use if the sterile pack is undamaged.
- Open the individual sterile pack using aseptic technique and remove the syringe.
- If injection or aspiration via a needle or connector is required, attach an appropriate sterile needle or device to the centric Luer connector and ensure it is securely fitted.
- For aspiration, insert the needle or connector into the fluid or access device and gently pull back the plunger, using the 0.01 ml graduations to draw up the required volume precisely.
- For injection, expel any air bubbles by gently tapping the barrel and advancing the plunger until a small drop appears at the tip, then administer the dose according to clinical protocol and the intended route.
- When using as a low-dead-space syringe, utilise the displacement spike fully to minimise residual volume and reduce drug loss, particularly when withdrawing doses from multi-dose vials.
- Do not exceed the maximum usable capacity (approximately 1.10 ml) and never force the plunger beyond the safe backstop.
- After completing the procedure, safely engage needle safety mechanisms if present, disconnect from the patient or system and dispose of syringe (and needle) in an approved sharps container.
- Do not attempt to clean, resterilise or reuse the syringe; it is designed strictly for single use.
- Follow local institutional and national guidelines for safe handling, use and disposal of single-use syringes and needles.
Contraindications
- Do not use if the sterile packaging is damaged, opened or otherwise compromised prior to use.
- Do not reuse or resterilise; reuse of single-use syringes increases the risk of infection, cross-contamination and device malfunction.
- Do not use in combination with substances known to be incompatible with polypropylene or polyethylene materials if such incompatibility is documented.
- Use with caution and in accordance with clinical guidelines for routes requiring specific syringe types or connectors; in such cases, ensure that Injekt®-F Solo meets the required specifications.
- Do not use beyond the marked graduation range or maximum usable capacity.
- Follow general contraindications and precautions associated with the medication or procedure being performed (e.g. specific drugs, allergy tests, intrathecal injections).
Adverse Effects
- The syringe itself has no pharmacological activity; potential adverse effects are associated with the injected medication or procedure (e.g. pain, bruising, infection, allergic reactions, tissue damage).
- Incorrect use (e.g. failure to remove air, wrong route, inaccurate dosing) may result in complications such as air embolism, extravasation or under/over-dosing.
- Use of a damaged or non-sterile syringe may increase the risk of infection or pyrogenic reactions.
- Loose or incorrect attachment of needles or connectors may lead to leakage or disconnection during use, compromising dose delivery and safety.
Storage Conditions
- Store in original packaging in a clean, dry place, protected from dust, moisture and direct sunlight.
- Keep within the temperature range specified on the packaging (typically room temperature); avoid exposure to excessive heat or freezing temperatures.
- Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
- Protect cartons and inner sterile packs from crushing or mechanical damage that could compromise sterility.
- Keep out of reach of children and unauthorised persons, in accordance with local policies for medical device storage.
Duration
Not directly applicable; the syringe is used transiently during a single aspiration or injection procedure and is disposed of immediately after one use.
Onset
Not applicable to the device itself; it enables immediate administration of medication or extraction of fluids. Clinical onset of effect depends on the substance administered and the route of administration.
