Single-use toothed Adson tissue forceps (12.5cm)
Description
Instrapac Adson Forceps Toothed 12.5cm are single-use, toothed Adson tissue forceps designed for fine surgical procedures, including grasping and holding delicate or superficial tissues, assisting with suturing and handling dressings. Manufactured from medical grade surgical stainless steel, they are supplied individually in an easy-to-open, sterile peel pouch. As part of the Instrapac single-use instrument range from Robinson Healthcare (a Vernacare company), these forceps provide a high-quality, low-maintenance alternative to reusable instruments, helping to prevent cross infection and ensuring full compliance with the Medical Devices Directive. The 12.5cm toothed jaw profile gives a secure grip on tissue while allowing precise control in general, minor and aesthetic surgical procedures.

- Length: 12.5cm.
- Jaw: fine toothed tips for secure grip on tissue.
- Usage: single-use, sterile, for professional clinical use only.
- Material: medical grade surgical stainless steel.

Packaging
- Each instrument supplied individually sterile in an easy-to-open peel pouch.
- Pack labelling includes brand (Instrapac), description (Adson Forceps Toothed 12.5cm), manufacturer code 7923, single-use symbol and sterility information.
- Outer cartons typically contain multiple individually pouched forceps (e.g. cases of 50) for bulk supply to clinics and hospitals.
- Sterile until expiry date provided packaging remains intact and unopened.
Usage
- For professional use only by appropriately trained healthcare practitioners.
- Before use, check the sterile pouch for damage, moisture or compromised integrity; do not use if packaging is damaged or opened.
- Open the peel pouch using aseptic technique and present the instrument to the sterile field.
- Use the toothed Adson forceps to grasp or stabilise tissue, assist in suturing or handle small dressings as required by the procedure.
- Avoid excessive force or twisting that could damage tissue or deform the instrument tips.
- After the procedure, do not attempt to clean, reprocess or reuse the forceps; they are designed strictly for single use.
- Dispose of the used instrument in an appropriate sharps or clinical waste container according to local protocols and regulations.
- Follow all relevant hospital or clinic policies for use of single-use surgical instruments.
Contraindications
- Do not use if the sterile packaging is damaged, opened or shows signs of moisture or contamination.
- Not intended for reuse or resterilisation; reuse may lead to loss of function, breakage or increased risk of infection.
- Do not use if the instrument is visibly bent, damaged or has misaligned or blunted teeth.
- Use with caution near fragile structures (e.g. small vessels, nerves, thin skin) where toothed forceps may cause trauma if misused.
- Not suitable for non-medical purposes or for use outside appropriate clinical environments.
Adverse Effects
- Tissue bruising, indentation or minor trauma at the grasping site if excessive pressure is applied or the instrument is misused.
- Potential for more significant tissue damage, tearing or bleeding if used inappropriately on delicate structures.
- As with any surgical instrument, risk of infection exists if aseptic technique is not followed or if the instrument is used after sterility is compromised.
- Instrument breakage or deformation is rare but may occur if excessive force is applied or the instrument is reused contrary to instructions.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extremes of temperature.
- Keep in original outer packaging until required to protect sterile inner pouches from physical damage and contamination.
- Do not subject cartons or pouches to crushing, puncturing or prolonged moisture exposure.
- Observe the expiry date on the packaging; do not use after the indicated date.
- Store in accordance with hospital or clinic policies for sterile single-use instruments.
Duration
Used transiently during a single surgical or minor procedure; contact time with tissue is limited to the duration of the operation or intervention and the instrument is discarded immediately afterwards.
Onset
Immediate mechanical effect upon application to tissue; there is no pharmacological onset as the instrument provides physical grasping and manipulation only.
