Skin barrier and moisture protection cream

Description

Medi Derma-S Barrier Cream Tube 90g is a medical-grade moisture barrier cream formulated to provide gentle but effective protection for intact skin or skin with mild damage. It moisturises and protects the skin by forming a transparent, waterproof, hydrophobic barrier that helps prevent irritation and breakdown caused by bodily fluids, friction and adhesive products. The cream is quickly absorbed, long-lasting, and can be used during episodes of incontinence and around areas where dressings, ostomy pouches or other adhesive devices are applied. It can be used on all patient groups, including paediatric and elderly patients, and is free from alcohol, fragrance, latex, parabens and phthalates.

Bnefits

  • Provides gentle but effective barrier protection for intact skin and mild skin damage.
  • Forms a transparent, waterproof, hydrophobic barrier to protect against moisture-associated skin damage (MASD).
  • Helps prevent irritation and maceration from bodily fluids, including urine, faeces, wound exudate and perspiration.
  • Suitable for use during episodes of incontinence and under incontinence pads without impairing pad absorption.
  • Can be used around dressings, ostomy pouches and adhesive devices without impeding adhesion.
  • Highly moisturising to restore skin hydration and maintain skin integrity.
  • Suitable for use on paediatric, adult and elderly patients, including those receiving palliative or end-of-life care.
  • Quick-drying formulation that is rapidly absorbed, leaving a non-greasy protective coating.
  • Only a small amount is required per application, making the product economical in use.
  • Alcohol, fragrance, latex, parabens and phthalates free, reducing the risk of irritation and sensitisation.

Indications

  • Prevention and management of moisture-associated skin damage (MASD).

Usage

  • For external use only; follow local clinical protocols and the advice of a healthcare professional.
  • Ensure the skin is clean and thoroughly dry before application.
  • Apply a thin, uniform coating of cream over the area requiring protection; do not over-apply.

  • When used for incontinence-associated skin protection, application is generally recommended twice daily (e.g., morning and evening), or more frequently if the skin is washed very often.

  • Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

Duration

Duration and frequency of use depend on clinical need and the underlying cause of moisture exposure. For incontinence-associated skin protection, the cream is commonly applied twice daily and after frequent washing, and continued as long as the risk of moisture-associated skin damage persists.

Onset

Barrier protection begins immediately after application and drying, with progressive improvement in skin condition typically observed over days to weeks when used consistently as part of a comprehensive skin care regimen.
