Non-woven absorbent swabs
Description
Mesoft 10cm x 10cm 4-ply swabs are soft, non-woven absorbent swabs designed for a wide variety of clinical uses including wound cleansing, absorption of exudate, protection, padding and skin disinfection. Compared to traditional gauze, Mesoft swabs release fewer fibres into the wound and feel softer against the skin, helping to improve patient comfort and reduce the risk of lint contamination. This pack contains 100 swabs sized 10cm x 10cm with a 4-ply construction.
Bnefits
- Soft non-woven material provides greater comfort than traditional woven gauze.
- Low-linting construction releases fewer fibres into the wound than standard gauze swabs.
- Highly absorbent 4-ply design suitable for cleansing and managing light to moderate exudate.
- Versatile use for cleansing, absorption, protection, padding and skin disinfection.
- Conforms easily to body contours and can be folded or layered as required.
- Economical bulk pack of 100 swabs for clinic and practice use.
- Suitable for use in a wide range of medical and aesthetic procedures.
Indications
- General wound cleansing and irrigation support.
- Absorption of blood or exudate from superficial and post-operative wounds.
- Protection and padding of wounds or injection sites.
- Application and removal of antiseptic solutions for skin disinfection.
- Use as a non-woven swab in medical, dental and aesthetic treatments (e.g. before and after injections, minor procedures, skin treatments).
- As a secondary dressing component in combination with primary dressings where additional absorption or padding is required.
Composition
- Soft non-woven material (typically viscose/polyester blend).
- 4-ply construction for enhanced absorbency.
- White, low-linting swab designed for single use.
- Dimensions: 10cm x 10cm per swab.
- Supplied non-sterile (intended to be used from a clean pack or sterilised locally if required, according to local protocols).
Formulation
- Non-woven absorbent swab formed by layering multiple plies of viscose/polyester fibre web.
- Engineered to balance softness with sufficient tensile strength for use when wet.
- Low-lint design to minimise fibre shedding into wounds or onto treated skin.
- Designed for single-use clinical procedures.
Packaging
- Pack of 100 Mesoft 10cm x 10cm 4-ply swabs.
- Swabs supplied in a protective outer pack suitable for clinic storage and easy access.
- Outer packaging clearly identifies product name, size, ply, quantity and manufacturer/brand.

Usage
- Open the pack in a clean environment, following local infection-control procedures.
- Remove the required number of swabs using clean or gloved hands, avoiding unnecessary handling.
- Use swabs for wound cleansing with appropriate cleansing solution, for absorption of exudate, or for skin disinfection as required.
- For disinfection, apply a suitable antiseptic solution to the swab and wipe the target area according to product and local protocol instructions.
- Do not reuse swabs; discard after single use, especially if contaminated with blood or bodily fluids.
- If sterile use is required, use only sterilised swabs or follow local procedures for sterilisation and aseptic handling.
- Dispose of used swabs safely in clinical waste containers in line with local regulations.
Contraindications
- Do not use directly on patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the swab’s component materials (e.g. viscose, polyester).
- Not suitable as a primary dressing for heavily exuding or deep wounds without additional appropriate dressings.
- Do not reuse single-use swabs; reuse may increase risk of infection.
- If a sterile field is required, do not use non-sterile swabs unless they have been sterilised and handled according to local sterile protocols.
Adverse Effects
- Generally well tolerated; adverse effects are rare and usually related to underlying wound condition or cleansing agents used with the swab.
- Possible mechanical irritation if used vigorously on fragile or sensitive skin.
- In very rare cases, local irritation or hypersensitivity to fibre materials may occur.
- Improper use (e.g. reuse, non-aseptic handling) may contribute to contamination or infection risk.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Keep in original packaging until use to protect from dust and contamination.
- Do not use if packaging is damaged or visibly contaminated.
- Follow any additional storage recommendations on the product pack.

Onset
Immediate mechanical effect upon use (absorption, cleansing, protection or disinfection support as soon as the swab is applied).
