Description

mikrozid® alcohol jumbo wipes x 220 wipes are ready-to-use, alcohol-based disinfectant wipes from Schülke’s mikrozid range, designed for rapid cleaning and disinfection of non-invasive medical devices and hard, wipeable surfaces. They use a unique blend of two alcohols with added surfactants to deliver high-level virucidal performance within one minute contact time, while also providing effective bactericidal (including Mycobacterium tuberculosis), yeasticidal and virucidal activity. The jumbo wipes are large (approx. 20 x 27 cm), quick-drying and residue-free, making them suitable for near-patient areas and other high-risk clinical environments. This specific pack configuration contains 220 jumbo wipes in a convenient dispensing tub supplied for infection control use in healthcare, dental, and other professional settings.

Composition

Usage

  • Ensure all visible soiling is removed from surfaces before disinfection (pre-clean if necessary).
  • Open the tub and remove one impregnated wipe, then immediately reseal or close the lid to minimise drying.
  • Thoroughly wipe the surface or non-invasive medical device, ensuring complete wetting of all areas to be disinfected.
  • Observe the recommended contact time: generally 1 minute for bactericidal (including TB), yeasticidal and virucidal activity (per EN 16615 and EN 14476).
  • If required, use multiple wipes for larger surface areas to maintain adequate wetting and contact time.
  • Allow the surface to air-dry; do not wipe dry to ensure full disinfectant efficacy and a residue-free finish.
  • Do not use on surfaces sensitive to alcohol (e.g. acrylic glass, certain plastics, leather, some PVC surfaces).
  • For refilling compatible dispensers, disinfect hands and wear new protective gloves, avoid contamination of the tub and lid, and follow manufacturer refilling guidance.
  • Use biocides safely – always read the label and product information, and consult the Safety Data Sheet for detailed safety and handling instructions.
  • Dispose of used wipes as clinical or domestic waste according to local regulations; do not flush wipes down toilets.

Contraindications

  • Do not use on alcohol-sensitive surfaces such as acrylic glass and certain plastics, leather, or PVC where alcohol damage (e.g. crazing, clouding or softening) may occur.
  • Not intended for final disinfection of semi-critical or critical medical devices that require sterilisation or high-level disinfection by validated methods.
  • Not suitable for direct application to skin, wounds, mucous membranes or invasive medical devices.
  • Use with caution in poorly ventilated areas due to alcohol vapours; avoid inhaling vapour or aerosol.
  • Individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to ethanol, 1-propanol, or other formulation components should avoid direct contact with the solution.
  • Keep away from ignition sources – the product is flammable due to its alcohol content.

Adverse Effects

  • Prolonged or repeated skin contact with the impregnating solution may cause dryness, irritation or dermatitis, especially in sensitive individuals.
  • Inadvertent eye contact with the solution can cause irritation, redness and watering; rinse cautiously with water if contact occurs and seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
  • Inhalation of high concentrations of alcohol vapours may cause transient irritation of the respiratory tract, dizziness or headache in susceptible individuals; ensure good ventilation.
  • Misuse on incompatible or alcohol-sensitive surfaces may lead to cosmetic or structural damage such as discolouration, softening or crazing of plastics.

Storage Conditions

  • Keep the container tightly closed when not in use to prevent evaporation and contamination.
  • Store at room temperature in the original container, protected from frost, excessive heat and direct sunlight.
  • Keep away from open flames, sparks and other sources of ignition due to the flammable alcohol content.
  • Store out of the reach of children and unauthorised persons.
  • Do not store in a very hot environment or in direct sunlight for prolonged periods, as this can accelerate evaporation and reduce product performance.
  • Only recycle or dispose of completely emptied packaging; dispose of partially used product and used wipes according to local regulations.
