Description

PDI Hygea Hands & Face Washcloth - Fragranced x 80 are maceratable patient care wipes designed for gentle yet effective cleansing of the hands and face. These pre-moistened, pulp-based washcloths are hypoallergenic, dermatologically tested and lightly fragranced to leave the skin feeling clean and fresh. Alcohol free, paraben free and latex free, they are suitable for frequent use on sensitive skin and are intended to promote patient comfort, independence and dignity in hospitals, care homes and community settings. The wipes are fully maceratable and biodegradable, offering a waterless cleansing solution that is kind to both skin and the environment.

Composition

  • Non-woven, pulp-based maceratable washcloth substrate (biodegradable).
  • Aqua (water).
  • Propylene Glycol (humectant/skin conditioner).
  • Aloe Barbadensis (aloe vera) extract for skin soothing and conditioning.
  • Sodium Citrate (buffering agent).
  • Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate (chelating agent).
  • Phenoxyethanol (preservative).
  • Benzoic Acid (preservative).
  • Dehydroacetic Acid (preservative).
  • Sodium Hydroxide (pH adjuster).
  • Sodium Benzoate (preservative).
  • Fragrance (parfum), lightly fragranced and formulated to be hypoallergenic.
  • No added alcohol (ethanol or isopropyl alcohol).
  • No added parabens or lanolin.

Formulation

  • Pre-moistened maceratable washcloth impregnated with an aqueous cleansing and moisturising solution.

Packaging

Usage

  • Check the packaging and local protocols to confirm suitability for the intended patient and application.
  • Open the resealable pack and remove one washcloth, then reseal the pack immediately to prevent remaining wipes from drying out.
  • Gently wipe the patient’s hands and/or face until the skin is visibly clean, avoiding direct contact with the eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Use additional wipes as required, using a new wipe for each patient or body area as per local infection prevention policy.
  • Do not rinse; the product is a rinse-free, waterless cleansing solution intended to be left on the skin.
  • After use, dispose of the wipe via an approved macerator where available or in accordance with local waste-disposal guidelines; do not flush directly into toilets unless local instructions specifically permit.
  • Store the pack in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and ensure it is fully closed when not in use.
  • Discontinue use and seek clinical advice if redness, irritation or other signs of sensitivity occur.

Contraindications

  • Not for use on broken skin, open wounds or mucous membranes unless directed by a healthcare professional.
  • Avoid direct contact with the eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the listed ingredients.
  • Not intended for ingestion or internal use.
  • Do not flush wipes directly into toilets where plumbing or local regulations do not permit maceratable products; follow facility guidance.

Adverse Effects

  • Generally well tolerated; however, mild transient skin irritation or redness may occur in sensitive individuals.
  • Allergic contact dermatitis is possible in patients with hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.
  • Eye irritation may occur if the solution comes into direct contact with the eyes.
  • Inappropriate disposal (e.g. flushing in unsuitable systems) may contribute to plumbing blockages, although wipes are maceratable when used with compatible equipment.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
  • Keep pack tightly sealed when not in use to prevent wipes from drying out.
  • Do not expose to extremes of temperature (do not freeze or store near heat sources).
  • Store out of reach of children and unauthorised users.
