Reusable gel hot/cold pack

Description

The Reusable Hot & Cold Pack 13x14cm is a compact Koolpak gel pack supplied by Fillers Direct as a clinic consumable. Measuring approximately 13 x 14 cm and weighing around 120 g, it is designed for repeated hot or cold use to help manage soft tissue injuries, muscular and joint aches, and minor bumps or strains. The pack can be chilled in a freezer or refrigerator for cold therapy, or heated in a microwave for warm therapy, remaining flexible at both temperature ranges. It is intended for use in clinics, sports, first aid and aesthetic settings where simple, reusable hot/cold therapy is required, and it stays cooler for longer than a standard ice pack when used correctly.

Bnefits

  • Reusable design provides a cost-effective alternative to single-use hot and cold packs.
  • Suitable for both hot and cold therapy, reducing the need for separate products.
  • Remains soft and flexible when frozen, allowing it to conform to the contours of the body.
  • Helps provide soothing relief from muscular and joint aches, sprains, strains and other soft tissue injuries.
  • Stays cooler longer than a standard ice pack when properly chilled.
  • Compact 13 x 14 cm size is ideal for localized treatment (e.g. face, joints, small muscle groups) in clinical or home settings.

Indications

  • Adjunct hot or cold therapy for soft tissue injuries such as sprains, strains and bruises.
  • Cold therapy to help reduce swelling and inflammation in acute injuries once appropriate.
  • Warm therapy to provide relief from muscular and joint aches and stiffness.
  • Localised temperature therapy in clinic, sports, first aid or aesthetic practice (e.g. post-procedure comfort around injection sites, as permitted by clinic protocols).
  • General reusable gel pack for minor aches and pains where hot/cold therapy is appropriate.

Composition

  • Internal gel: water-based gel containing carbomer, glycerol and water.
  • External: flexible laminated plastic/nylon outer pouch (soft, wipe-clean and durable).

Formulation

  • Reusable gel-filled pack for external use only.
  • Can be cooled in a freezer or refrigerator for cold therapy.
  • Can be heated in a microwave (following timing guidance on the pack/outer packaging) for hot therapy.
  • Non-sterile, supplied ready to use; no additional activation chemicals required.

Packaging

  • Single reusable hot & cold gel pack supplied per unit (13 x 14 cm, approx. 120 g).
  • Pack is sealed in its own printed or labelled pouch; outer shipping packaging provided by the distributor.
  • Supplied as a clinic consumable within Fillers Direct’s Clinic Essentials range.

Usage

  • For cold use: place the pack in a freezer for at least 2 hours or in a refrigerator until adequately chilled before application.
  • For hot use: heat the pack in a microwave according to the instructions on the pack or packaging (typically short bursts, checking between intervals) until warm but not excessively hot.
  • Always wrap the pack in a cloth, towel or protective cover before placing on the skin; do not apply directly to bare skin to avoid risk of cold or heat injury.
  • Apply to the affected area for up to 20 minutes at a time, then remove and allow the skin to return to normal temperature before reapplying, in line with local clinical guidelines.
  • Check the skin regularly during use; discontinue treatment if excessive redness, pain, numbness or discomfort occurs.
  • Do not puncture, cut or sit on the pack; if the pack becomes damaged or leaks, discard and replace.
  • Clean the outer surface by wiping with a damp cloth or suitable wipe after use; do not machine wash or immerse in hot water.
  • Follow any additional manufacturer instructions printed on the pack or supplied with the product.

Contraindications

  • Do not use on broken or damaged skin, open wounds or infected areas unless advised by a healthcare professional.
  • Not recommended for individuals with impaired circulation, diabetes, reduced sensation, or certain skin conditions unless under medical supervision.
  • Do not use on infants or very young children without appropriate professional guidance and close supervision.
  • Do not apply for prolonged periods or use while sleeping due to risk of thermal injury.
  • Do not use if the pack is punctured, leaking, excessively worn or if the contents have changed colour or consistency.
  • Do not ingest the contents of the pack; if leakage occurs and gel contacts eyes or mouth, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.

Adverse Effects

  • Potential for cold burns, frostbite-like injury or skin irritation if applied too cold, directly to skin or for excessive duration.
  • Risk of heat burns or scalding if overheated in a microwave or applied too hot to the skin.
  • Temporary redness, discomfort or numbness at the application site if used incorrectly or for too long.
  • Possible allergic or irritation reaction in rare cases if the outer material or leaked gel comes into contact with sensitive skin.

Storage Conditions

  • Store at room temperature when not in active hot or cold use.
  • If used primarily for cold therapy, the pack may be kept in a dedicated freezer compartment so it is ready for immediate use, ensuring it is placed flat and away from sharp objects.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight, naked flames and high heat sources when not in use.
  • Do not exceed recommended microwave heating times; overheating may damage the pack and increase risk of burns.
  • Avoid placing heavy or sharp objects on top of the pack to prevent puncture or rupture.
  • Keep out of reach of children when not supervised.

Duration

Typically applied for up to 20 minutes per session for hot or cold therapy, with repeated use as required in accordance with clinical or first aid guidelines.

Onset

Cooling or warming relief is generally felt within minutes of application once the pack has been adequately chilled or heated.
