Alcohol-free universal disinfectant wipes

Description

Sani-Cloth® AF³ Universal wipes are alcohol-free, ready-to-use, low-linting disinfectant wipes for combined cleaning and disinfection of non-invasive medical devices and general hard surfaces in healthcare environments. Pre-saturated with a dual quaternary ammonium compound formulation, they provide broad-spectrum bactericidal, virucidal, yeasticidal and tuberculocidal activity with a 1-minute total contact time, supporting fast and effective infection control. The wipes are dermatologically tested, latex free, PHMB and CMR free, and compatible with a wide range of medical plastics, metals, electronic equipment and sealed wood surfaces. This Universal bucket format (SKU EAF3005) contains large wipes designed for high-touch areas such as bed rails, trolleys, monitors, IV poles and other frequently handled equipment.

Bnefits

  • 2-in-1 cleaning and disinfection in a single step, reducing the need for separate detergent and disinfectant products.
  • Alcohol-free, fragrance-free, dual quaternary ammonium formulation suitable for use around patients and staff with respiratory sensitivities.
  • Broad-spectrum efficacy – bactericidal, virucidal, yeasticidal and tuberculocidal with a 1-minute total contact time when used as directed.
  • Low-linting wipe material helps prevent fibre shedding on sensitive equipment and medical devices.
  • Dermatologically tested and not made with natural rubber latex, PHMB or CMR substances, helping to minimise allergy and sensitisation risks.
  • Compatible with a wide range of non-invasive medical devices and hard surfaces including many plastics, metals, electronic housings and sealed wood.
  • Ready-to-use disposable wipes in a convenient bucket format support consistent application and reduce dosing errors.
  • NHS-approved universal wipes, widely used across hospitals and clinical environments for routine and terminal disinfection of non-invasive equipment.

Indications

  • Routine cleaning and disinfection of non-invasive medical devices in healthcare settings, according to device manufacturer compatibility guidance.
  • Disinfection of non-porous hard surfaces such as bed rails, trolleys, worktops, IV poles, monitors, and other high-touch environmental surfaces.
  • Pre-cleaning or decontamination of non-invasive medical devices prior to sterilisation or high-level disinfection, where appropriate.
  • Use in areas requiring rapid, broad-spectrum disinfection with a short contact time and no alcohol (e.g. near patients with respiratory sensitivities or alcohol avoidance).

Composition

  • Dual quaternary ammonium compound-based disinfectant solution (approx. 0.28% w/w total quaternary ammonium compounds in the working solution).
  • Aqueous base with surfactants and stabilisers to provide combined cleaning and disinfection performance.
  • Impregnated onto a low-lint non-woven wipe substrate.
  • Alcohol-free, fragrance-free, PHMB-free, CMR-free and not made with natural rubber latex.

Formulation

  • Pre-impregnated non-woven wipes containing an alcohol-free, dual quaternary ammonium disinfectant solution for surface cleaning and disinfection.

Packaging

  • Universal bucket / tub format containing approximately 225 pre-saturated wipes.
  • Large wipe size (approx. 270 mm x 260 mm) suitable for rapid coverage of high-touch surfaces.
  • Resealable bucket lid to limit drying and maintain wipe moisture between uses.
  • Supplied as an alcohol-free, Class IIa medical device for non-invasive medical devices and hard surfaces.

Usage

  • For professional use only. Check the label and local infection-control policies before use.
  • Ensure the bucket is correctly closed when not in use; on first use, open the lid, remove any inner seal as directed, and feed the first wipe through the dispensing aperture.
  • Pull out a single wipe and close the lid after dispensing to prevent remaining wipes from drying out.
  • Using a fresh wipe, thoroughly wipe the surface or non-invasive medical device to ensure it is visibly wet, working from clean to dirty areas and avoiding re-contamination.
  • Allow the surface to remain visibly wet for at least 1 minute to achieve the stated bactericidal, virucidal, yeasticidal and tuberculocidal activity.
  • Where heavy soiling is present, pre-clean with a fresh wipe and then repeat with a new wipe to ensure effective disinfection.
  • Do not rinse unless specifically recommended by the device or equipment manufacturer; if rinsing is required, follow their instructions.
  • Dispose of used wipes in accordance with local clinical or domestic waste regulations; do not flush wipes down toilets.
  • Wash or sanitise hands after completing environmental cleaning and disinfection tasks.
  • Always follow the manufacturer’s Instructions for Use and any additional guidance from local infection prevention and control teams.

Contraindications

  • Not for use on skin, open wounds, mucous membranes or as a hand or body wipe.
  • Not suitable for ingestion or use on invasive medical devices.
  • Do not use on surfaces or equipment that are incompatible with quaternary ammonium compounds; always check manufacturer guidance for delicate materials and electronic equipment.
  • Do not mix with other cleaning or disinfectant chemicals, as this may reduce efficacy or generate hazardous by-products.
  • Discontinue use and seek advice if any unexpected damage or discolouration of surfaces or devices is observed.

Adverse Effects

  • May cause mild skin irritation or dryness in some users after prolonged or repeated exposure; wearing gloves is recommended for frequent use.
  • May cause transient eye irritation if solution contacts the eyes; eyes should be rinsed with water if contact occurs.
  • Inappropriate use on incompatible materials may lead to surface damage, staining or degradation over time.
  • Inhalation of mists or aerosols generated by improper use (e.g. vigorous waving of wet wipes near the face) may cause mild respiratory irritation in sensitive individuals.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
  • Keep the bucket tightly closed when not in use to prevent wipes from drying out and to maintain product efficacy.
  • Store in the original container and do not decant into other unlabelled containers.
  • Protect from freezing and from excessive temperatures as indicated on the product label.
  • Use within the stated shelf life and, once opened, within the recommended in-use period indicated by the manufacturer.

Duration

Onset

Broad-spectrum disinfection (bactericidal, virucidal, yeasticidal and tuberculocidal) achieved with a total contact time of approximately 1 minute on pre-cleaned surfaces when used as directed.
