Periocular and perioral (eye and lip) TCA/lactic acid gel peel
Description
Enerpeel EL is a medically engineered, monophasic gel chemical peel specifically designed for the peri-ocular (around the eyes) and peri-oral (around the lips) areas. Based on a controlled combination of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and lactic acid in a patented carrier solution, it is applied in multiple layers to progressively increase effective acid concentration while limiting surface irritation. This technology enables significant remodelling of fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet, eyelid laxity and lip lines, as well as improving dark circles and photo-induced pigmentation, with minimal erythema, peeling and downtime. The kit supplied by Fillers Direct contains 2 x 12.5 ml of Enerpeel EL gel for professional, in-clinic use only.
Bnefits
- Targets the ‘age-defining’ areas: peri-ocular (eye contour) and peri-oral (lip margin) regions
- Reduces fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet and perioral ‘pout lines’
- Improves eyelid firmness and contour, helping reduce eyelid droop and crepiness
- Helps lighten and brighten dark circles and photo-induced pigmentation around the eyes
- Improves tone and texture of the delicate eye and lip-area skin with minimal downtime
- Layered application allows gradual increase in effective TCA and lactic acid strength while maintaining tolerability
- Patented carrier system delivers acids deeper with less surface trauma compared to conventional peels
- Very superficial to superficial/superficial-medium chemoexfoliation depending on number of layers and treatment schedule
- Clinically used for chrono-aging, photoaging and moderate hyperpigmentation in sensitive areas
- Medical device manufactured under EU quality standards (GMP, ISO 13485) as part of Skin Tech’s Enerpeel line
Indications
- Photoaging and chrono-aging of the peri-ocular and peri-oral areas
- Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) and lips (pout lines, barcode lines)
- Eyelid laxity and early sagging of the upper and lower eyelids
- Moderate hyperpigmentation around the eyes and lips (including dark circles and sun-related discoloration)
- Textural irregularities and dullness in the eye and lip contour regions
- Patients seeking targeted rejuvenation of delicate eye and lip areas with limited downtime
Composition
- Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) ~3.75% per layer, effective strength up to ~15% with multi-layer application
- Lactic acid ~15% per layer, effective strength up to ~60% with multi-layer application
- Patented Enerpeel carrier solution (enhances penetration while reducing surface trauma)
- Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) – present in the Enerpeel range to support normal healing and reduce inflammatory mediators
- Monophasic gel base suitable for controlled application to peri-ocular and peri-oral skin
Formulation
- Monophasic gel formulation supplied in a precision dispenser / vial system for controlled application
- Active acids: low-strength TCA (~3.75% per layer) and lactic acid (~15% per layer), layered up to four times to reach effective concentrations comparable to higher-strength TCA peels while maintaining tolerability
- Patented carrier technology designed to restrain acid release at the surface and enhance deeper penetration, reducing visible peeling and erythema
- Engineered specifically for delicate peri-ocular and peri-oral skin, achieving very superficial to superficial-medium chemoexfoliation depending on protocol
- Part of the Enerpeel medical-device peel range manufactured by Skin Tech Pharma Group under GMP and ISO 13485 standards
Packaging
- Box containing Enerpeel EL 2 x 12.5 ml gel units (professional size)
- Supplied as a medical-device peel system for clinic use (typically used with Enerpeel PS preparatory wipes and Enerpeel neutraliser wipes, depending on kit configuration)
- Ergonomic ampoule/pen or vial-brush style dispenser with soft applicator designed for precise application to eye and lip areas
- Professional information and protocol supplied to licensed practitioners via manufacturer and distributors
Usage
- For professional in-clinic use only by trained medical or aesthetic practitioners.
- Prepare the peri-ocular and peri-oral skin by cleansing thoroughly and removing surface lipids, typically with Enerpeel PS (preparatory) wipes according to the Enerpeel protocol.
- Protect the ocular surface and mucosal areas as per clinic protocol (e.g., ophthalmic shields, petrolatum in commissures), avoiding direct contact with eyes and mucosa.
- Apply a thin, even layer of Enerpeel EL gel to the target areas (around the eye socket and along the lip margin) using the supplied applicator brush/pen, staying within the recommended treatment zones.
- Allow approximately 1–3 minutes for each layer, assessing erythema and patient sensation after each application.
- According to the indication and skin tolerance, apply up to four layers; each additional layer increases the effective acid concentration (TCA and lactic acid) in the tissue.
- Average total application time before neutralisation is typically 2–5 minutes, depending on the number of layers and clinical response.
- At the end of the prescribed exposure time or earlier if indicated by skin response, neutralise the peel with Enerpeel Neutraliser (wipes or solution) following the manufacturer’s protocol.
- Gently remove any residues and apply appropriate post-peel care, often including hydrating, barrier-supporting and pigment-regulating products (e.g., Tebiskin post-peel ranges recommended by SkinMed / Skin Tech partners).
- Instruct the patient to follow a home-care regimen, including broad-spectrum photoprotection and any pre/post-peel products recommended (e.g., melanin-controlling and barrier-repair formulas).
- Repeat treatments as part of a course: commonly 4 sessions spaced 7–14 days apart, with a yearly cycle of two courses recommended in many clinical protocols.
- Adjust number of layers and treatment intervals based on Fitzpatrick skin type, skin condition, prior response and practitioner judgment.
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to trichloroacetic acid, lactic acid, MSM or any component of the Enerpeel EL formulation.
- Active infections, inflammatory dermatoses, open wounds, erosions or severe irritation in the intended treatment areas.
- Recent procedures in the peri-ocular or peri-oral areas (e.g., surgery, ablative laser, deep peels) where healing is incomplete or the treating clinician advises against additional chemical exfoliation.
- History of abnormal scarring (keloids, hypertrophic scars) or impaired wound healing in the proposed treatment zones, unless the clinician judges benefits to outweigh risks.
- Uncontrolled systemic disease or conditions in which chemical peels are generally contraindicated, according to treating physician’s assessment.
- Use of photosensitising medications or topical agents on the treatment area that may increase risk of adverse reactions unless managed as per protocol.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding as a precaution, unless national guidelines and the supervising physician explicitly consider the procedure acceptable.
- Inability or unwillingness to comply with strict photoprotection and recommended post-peel care.
Adverse Effects
- Expected transient effects such as tingling, burning, warmth, erythema and tightness during and shortly after application, especially with higher numbers of layers.
- Temporary dryness, flaking or mild peeling of the treated skin in the days following the procedure.
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, particularly in higher Fitzpatrick skin types or in patients who do not adhere to photoprotection and pre-/post-peel protocols.
- Less commonly, prolonged erythema, edema, or local irritation requiring adjustment of protocol or additional supportive care.
- Rarely, blistering, surface erosion, scarring or infection if aftercare instructions or contraindications are not respected, or if excessive concentration/time is used.
- Allergic or idiosyncratic reactions to one or more components of the peel or associated pre-/post-treatment products.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Keep the vials/dispensers tightly closed when not in use to prevent evaporation or degradation of acids.
- Follow any specific temperature recommendations in the Enerpeel EL instructions for use (typically room temperature unless otherwise stated).
- Keep out of reach of children and non-professional users.
- Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging and do not use if the container is damaged or the product shows signs of instability.
Duration
Typical protocols use a course of 4 Enerpeel EL treatments at intervals of 7\u201314 days; many practitioners recommend a yearly cycle of two such courses (i.e., 8 sessions per year) for sustained results. Each individual treatment has an on-skin exposure time of roughly 2\u20135 minutes before neutralisation, depending on the number of layers. Long-term maintenance frequency is tailored to patient age, skin condition, and response.
Onset
Initial improvements in brightness and fine lines around the eyes and lips are often visible after the first few sessions, with more marked remodelling of wrinkles, eyelid tightness and pigmentation typically becoming apparent over the full 4-treatment course and consolidating in the weeks following completion of the series.
