Salicylic acid chemical peel for acne and oily skin
Description
Enerpeel SA is a professional salicylic acid chemical peel formulated in the patented Enerpeel skin remodelling carrier solution and designed specifically for acne-prone and oily skin. Using approximately 30% salicylic acid together with triethyl citrate, ethyl linoleate and GT peptide-10 (the same active complex as in Tebiskin/Aknicare OSK), it targets the four main visible signs of acne by reducing sebum, inhibiting bacterial lipases, decreasing inflammation and limiting hyperkeratinisation. The Enerpeel carrier delivers the actives deep into the pilosebaceous unit while limiting surface irritation, so redness and erythema are usually milder and shorter-lived than with conventional salicylic peels. The kit supplied by Fillers Direct contains 5 x 2 ml vials for in-clinic use only.
Bnefits
- Formulated specifically for acne sufferers, from mild to acute and chronic active acne
- Sebostatic effect of salicylic acid helps reduce excess sebum and shine
- Triethyl citrate and ethyl linoleate help inhibit bacterial lipases, reduce sebum production and modulate inflammation
- Targets the four main visible signs of acne (comedones, papules, pustules and oiliness) as shown in clinical studies of the OSK actives
- Helps clear existing spots, blackheads and congestion while reducing new breakouts
- Improves post-acne blemishes and texture with minimal downtime
- Patented Enerpeel carrier restrains acid activity at the surface and then releases it deeper into the skin, reducing erythema and visible peeling
- Average application time before neutralisation is 3–7 minutes with typically very little to no downtime
- Suitable for face, and in appropriate protocols can be used on chest and back acne (SA C+B variant) under professional supervision
Indications
- Comedonic and inflammatory facial acne
- Acute and chronic active acne
- Oily and seborrhoeic skin with enlarged pores
- Skin with blackheads and whiteheads (comedones)
- Post-acne blemishes and textural irregularities
- Acne affecting chest and back when used in appropriate protocol variants
- Patients requiring a remodelling peel that focuses on acne with limited downtime
Composition
- Salicylic acid ~30%
- Triethyl citrate
- Ethyl linoleate
- GT peptide-10
- Patented Enerpeel carrier solution
- Excipients suitable for topical chemoexfoliation (medical-device formulation)
Formulation
- Liquid salicylic acid peel supplied in single-use 2 ml vials
- Active concentration: approximately 30% salicylic acid in Enerpeel carrier
- Contains triethyl citrate and ethyl linoleate (OSK actives) to reduce sebum, bacterial activity and inflammation in acne
- Includes GT peptide-10 for additional anti-inflammatory and reparative activity
- Patented Enerpeel carrier restrains acid protons at the surface and releases them deeper for enhanced penetration with reduced surface trauma
- Chemoexfoliation depth: very superficial to superficial, with strong comedolytic and sebostatic action focused within the pilosebaceous unit
- Designed to work synergistically with Tebiskin/Aknicare OSK home-care protocols as part of a comprehensive acne management programme
Packaging
- Box containing 5 x 2 ml Enerpeel SA vials
- Professional-use presentation for in-clinic application by trained practitioners
- Size and care information: 5 x 2 ml as listed by Fillers Direct
- In some markets, Enerpeel SA kits are supplied with additional pre-treatment, remover wipes and applicator brushes as part of the complete Enerpeel system
Usage
- For professional in-clinic use only by trained medical or aesthetic practitioners.
- Obtain full medical and dermatological history, assess acne severity, Fitzpatrick type and risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation before treatment.
- Cleanse the treatment area thoroughly, then degrease and prepare the skin according to Enerpeel protocol (commonly using Enerpeel PS preparatory wipes).
- Protect sensitive areas (eyes, nostrils, lips and other mucous membranes) with appropriate barrier products as per clinic protocol.
- Dispense the contents of one 2 ml vial of Enerpeel SA into a suitable container or use directly with the supplied applicator brush.
- Apply a uniform layer of Enerpeel SA to the affected areas (typically the full face, and optionally chest or back with appropriate protocols), avoiding direct contact with eyes and mucosa.
- Allow the peel to act for approximately 3–7 minutes, monitoring patient comfort (e.g. 0–10 stinging scale) and clinical endpoints such as erythema and the formation of a superficial white salicylate precipitate.
- Once the prescribed exposure time is reached, or earlier if clinical endpoints dictate, neutralise or remove the peel per Enerpeel protocol—typically by wiping with damp cotton pads to remove the salicylate precipitate and/or using Enerpeel Neutraliser wipes/solution if specified.
- After removal/neutralisation, apply soothing and hydrating post-peel products as recommended (e.g. Tebiskin Sooth, barrier-repair moisturisers) followed by broad-spectrum sunscreen.
- Advise the patient to follow the recommended home-care regimen, often including Tebiskin/Aknicare OSK products, gentle cleansing, non-comedogenic moisturisers and daily high-SPF sun protection.
- Instruct the patient to avoid picking lesions, using additional irritant topical agents (e.g. strong retinoids, scrubs) and extensive heat/UV exposure for several days post-peel.
- Typical protocols involve a series of peels rather than a single treatment; adjust exposure time and frequency of sessions based on clinical response and tolerance.
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to salicylic acid, triethyl citrate, ethyl linoleate, GT peptide-10 or any component of the Enerpeel SA formulation.
- Active skin infections (bacterial, viral, fungal) or open wounds in the intended treatment area.
- Severe, uncontrolled inflammatory dermatoses (e.g. uncontrolled eczema, psoriasis) on the treatment sites.
- Recent ablative procedures, deep peels or resurfacing in the same area where healing is incomplete.
- History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring or impaired wound healing, unless carefully assessed and monitored by a medical professional.
- Current use of systemic isotretinoin or recent completion of an isotretinoin course where chemical peels are contraindicated by local guidelines.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding as a precaution, unless the supervising physician explicitly approves treatment under local regulations.
- Very dark Fitzpatrick skin types with high risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, unless treated by an experienced clinician under strict protocol.
- Inability or unwillingness to follow pre- and post-peel instructions, particularly avoidance of picking and adherence to photoprotection.
Adverse Effects
- Transient stinging, burning or warmth during application, with temporary erythema immediately after treatment.
- Short-term dryness, tightness, mild flaking or light peeling in the days following the procedure.
- Formation of a superficial white salicylate precipitate on the skin surface during treatment, which is expected and removed at the end of exposure.
- Risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially in darker skin types or in the event of unprotected sun exposure after the peel.
- Less commonly, prolonged erythema, oedema or irritation requiring topical treatment or adjustment of subsequent peel strength or frequency.
- Rarely, blistering, erosions, infection or scarring if protocols are exceeded, contraindications are not respected or post-peel care is inadequate.
- Possible allergic or idiosyncratic reactions to salicylic acid, the OSK actives, the carrier solution or associated pre-/post-peel products.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Keep vials in their original packaging and tightly closed until use to prevent evaporation and degradation.
- Observe any specific storage temperature instructions provided in the Enerpeel SA package insert (typically controlled room temperature unless otherwise stated).
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
- Keep out of reach of children and non-professional users.
Duration
Common protocols use a course of approximately 4 Enerpeel SA treatments spaced about 2 weeks apart for resistant or moderate to severe acne, with some variations using 3–6 sessions depending on severity and response. Each in-clinic peel has a contact time of around 3–7 minutes before removal/neutralisation. Maintenance courses can be repeated as needed (for example, 1–2 courses per year) in conjunction with ongoing home-care.
Onset
Many patients notice reduction in oiliness and inflammation, along with some clearing of active lesions, within the first couple of sessions. More significant improvement in acne severity, texture and post-acne marks is typically seen over the full course of approximately 4 peels and continues to consolidate in the weeks following the last treatment, particularly when combined with appropriate OSK-based home-care and strict photoprotection.
