Powder-free medical examination gloves

Description

McKinnon Medical Small Blue Nitrile Powder-Free Examination Gloves are single-use, non-sterile medical examination gloves made from nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), designed as a high-quality alternative to latex gloves for users with Type I latex allergy. They contain no natural rubber latex proteins yet offer similar wall thickness and excellent perforation resistance. Their distinctive blue colour allows easy identification in clinical settings. They are designed to provide barrier protection against blood, body fluids and a wide range of chemicals during medical, dental and care procedures. Each box contains 100 small-sized gloves (by count), suitable for use in hospitals, GP surgeries, dental practices, nursing and other healthcare environments.

Bnefits

  • Latex-free formulation makes them suitable for users and patients with Type I latex allergy.
  • Manufactured from nitrile butadiene rubber, providing high resistance to punctures and tears compared to many latex and vinyl gloves.
  • Powder-free design reduces the risk of powder-associated complications and contamination.
  • Distinctive blue colour allows quick visual identification and differentiation from other glove types in multi-glove environments.
  • Good resistance to a range of chemicals, making them suitable for protection against blood, body fluids and many commonly used clinical chemicals.
  • Same effective wall thickness as comparable latex examination gloves due to nitrile's higher perforation resistance.
  • Compliant with EN455 medical glove standards and EN374 chemical protection standards (as specified for McKinnon type MG gloves).
  • Available across a full size range (S, M, L, XL) with the small size supplied as a box of 100 gloves.

Indications

  • Intended for use as disposable medical examination gloves for healthcare professionals.
  • Suitable for general clinical procedures involving contact with blood, body fluids, secretions and excretions, where a barrier glove is required.
  • Use in hospitals, GP surgeries, dental practices, nursing homes, community care and similar healthcare and care environments.
  • Appropriate for tasks requiring basic chemical splash protection as defined by the glove's EN374 rating.
  • Recommended for users who need an alternative to natural rubber latex gloves due to Type I latex allergy or institutional latex-avoidance policies.

Composition

  • Material: Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR).
  • Powder status: Powder-free (no donning powder added).
  • Latex status: Contains no natural rubber latex proteins (latex-free).
  • Colour: Blue.
  • AQL (pinholes): 1.5 (as per McKinnon MG range data).

Formulation

  • Single-use, non-sterile medical examination gloves.
  • Ambidextrous design to fit either hand.
  • Beaded cuff to aid donning and reduce roll-down.
  • Textured fingertips or surface (depending on batch/spec) to enhance grip in wet or dry conditions.
  • Thin yet robust wall thickness to balance tactile sensitivity with puncture resistance.
  • Conforms to EN455 (medical gloves for single use) and EN420 (general requirements for protective gloves), with EN374 chemical protection classification specified for the MG range.

Packaging

  • Box of 100 small-size gloves by count (50 pairs, packed by weight / count).
  • Dispenser box with perforated opening for easy glove dispensing.
  • Outer labelling typically includes brand name (McKinnon Medical), product name, size (Small), material (nitrile), powder-free status, quantity (100), lot number, manufacturing / expiry dates, and relevant conformity and EN standard markings.
  • Multiple dispenser boxes may be supplied in a shipping carton for bulk orders.

Usage

  • Check the packaging for integrity and expiry date before use; do not use if the box or inner packaging is damaged or if the product is out of date.
  • Select the correct glove size (Small for this SKU) to ensure proper fit and to minimise risk of tears or slippage.
  • With clean, dry hands, remove a glove from the dispenser box and don it carefully, avoiding sharp nails, jewellery or other objects that may puncture the glove.
  • Ensure the glove fits snugly over the fingers, palm and wrist; repeat for the other hand as required.
  • Use the gloves for a single clinical task or patient interaction as per local infection prevention and control guidelines.
  • Avoid contact with highly aggressive chemicals beyond the scope of the glove’s EN374 rating; refer to your institutional chemical compatibility chart where available.
  • After use, grasp the outside of one glove near the cuff, peel it away from the hand turning it inside-out, hold it in the gloved hand, then slide an ungloved finger under the wrist of the remaining glove and peel it off over the first glove.
  • Dispose of used gloves safely in accordance with local clinical waste or infection-control policies; do not reuse or wash.
  • Perform hand hygiene (e.g., alcohol hand rub or washing with soap and water) immediately after glove removal.

Contraindications

  • Not suitable for individuals with known hypersensitivity to nitrile butadiene rubber or any component used in the glove formulation.
  • Not intended for sterile surgical use (non-sterile examination gloves only).
  • Not appropriate for exposure to chemicals or cytotoxic agents outside the glove’s validated EN374 performance and institutional risk assessments.
  • Should not be reused or reprocessed; re-use may compromise barrier integrity and increase infection risk.

Adverse Effects

  • Potential for skin irritation or allergic contact dermatitis in users sensitive to nitrile or glove additives (e.g., accelerators).
  • Excessive sweating or maceration of the skin if worn for prolonged periods without breaks.
  • Tearing or puncture during use if the wrong size is selected or if gloves are used beyond their mechanical limits, potentially compromising protection.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Recommended storage temperature typically between 5 °C and 30 °C (refer to box labelling for exact range).
  • Keep boxes in their original packaging until use to protect from dust, moisture and mechanical damage.
  • Do not store near ozone-generating equipment or strong solvents that might degrade the glove material.
  • Rotate stock using a first-expiry, first-out (FEFO) or first-in, first-out (FIFO) system to avoid using gloves past their expiry date.

Duration

Not applicable (personal protective equipment, not a medicinal treatment). Gloves are single-use and should be worn only for the duration of a single task or patient contact, then discarded.

Onset

Immediate barrier protection upon donning and wearing the gloves correctly.
