Usage

Clean and thoroughly dry instruments before packaging in the pouches.
Open the pouch and place instruments inside, ensuring they do not overfill or stress the seals.
Position sharp or pointed ends away from the seams to reduce risk of puncture.
Remove the protective liner from the self-adhesive strip.
Fold along the pre-marked line and press firmly along the adhesive area to create a complete seal.
Label the pouch as required (e.g., contents, sterilisation date, operator).
Place pouches in the autoclave according to local protocols, typically with the paper side up/down as per autoclave manufacturer guidance to allow steam penetration.
Run the validated steam sterilisation cycle.
After the cycle, confirm that the indicator strip on each pouch has changed colour to brown, indicating exposure to sterilisation conditions.
Allow pouches to dry and cool before handling and storage.
Store sterilised pouches in a clean, dry environment until use. Discard pouches if damaged, wet, or if seals are compromised.
Single use only – do not reuse pouches.

Contraindications

Do not use pouches for instruments that have not been properly cleaned and dried prior to sterilisation.
Not suitable for liquids or items that cannot be steam sterilised.
Do not use if the pouch material, seams or adhesive strip appear damaged or compromised.
Do not overfill pouches, as overfilling may lead to seal failure or inadequate sterilant penetration.
Do not reuse pouches after a completed sterilisation cycle.

Adverse Effects

Improper sealing or use of damaged pouches may compromise instrument sterility and increase infection risk.
Pouch puncture or tearing by sharp instruments can lead to loss of sterility.
