It features a chrome-plated metal syringe body with a precision-ground plunger to ensure smooth, controlled fluid delivery. The instrument is supplied complete with two detachable metal cannulas (one bulbous tip and one tapered tip) for different clinical ear-wash techniques. It is supplied non-sterile and is intended to be cleaned and sterilised between uses in accordance with local infection-control protocols.

      • Purpose-designed ENT instrument for irrigation and cleaning of the ear canal
      • Reusable, premium-grade construction for long service life and cost-effectiveness
      • Chrome-plated metal body with precision-ground plunger for smooth, controlled irrigation
      • Supplied with two interchangeable cannulas (1 bulbous tip and 1 tapered tip) for flexible clinical use
      • 50cc (approximately 1.7 oz) capacity suitable for standard ear-wax removal procedures
      • Non-sterile, allowing facilities to use their preferred decontamination and sterilisation processes
      • Premium grade, Japanese stainless-steel–based construction for durability and corrosion resistance

      Indications

      • Irrigation and cleaning of the external ear canal by trained healthcare professionals
      • Removal of excess or impacted cerumen (earwax) using an appropriate irrigation solution
      • Flushing of the ear canal as part of ENT, audiology or general practice procedures where irrigation is clinically indicated
      • Use in clinical, hospital, ENT clinic and primary care settings according to local protocols

      Composition

      • Chrome-plated steel syringe body (precision crafted from quality Japanese stainless steel, according to supplier information)
      • Precision-ground metal plunger / piston mechanism
      • Two detachable metal cannulas: 1 bulbous tip and 1 tapered tip
      • Brass/steel metal alloy construction as described by suppliers (chrome-plated finish)

      Formulation

      • Mechanical, metal-bodied piston syringe with 50cc capacity
      • Chrome-plated metal finish for durability and ease of cleaning
      • Precision-ground plunger for smooth operation and controlled irrigation flow
      • Reusable, non-sterile ENT instrument intended for repeated use after appropriate decontamination
      • Premium-grade, Japanese stainless-steel–based construction for surgical instrument quality

      Packaging

      • Individual POMEROY 50cc ear syringe unit
      • Supplied complete with 2 metal cannulas (1 bulbous tip and 1 tapered tip)
      • Supplied non-sterile
      • Packaged for professional / clinical use (typically boxed and labelled under Medisave Professional range)

      Usage

      • Intended for use only by trained healthcare professionals (e.g., ENT specialists, audiologists, nurses, or suitably trained clinicians) in accordance with local clinical guidelines for ear irrigation.
      • Before first use and between patients, the syringe and cannulas should be cleaned, disinfected and, where appropriate, sterilised in line with local infection-prevention policies and the facility’s instrument reprocessing protocols.
      • Select the appropriate cannula (bulbous tip or tapered tip) according to clinical preference and patient anatomy, and screw it securely onto the syringe nozzle.
      • Fill the syringe with a suitable warmed irrigation solution (e.g., body-temperature water or saline) as specified in local ear-irrigation protocols, ensuring there is no air locked in the system that could cause discomfort.
      • During use, support the patient’s head and gently insert the cannula into the outer ear canal without forcing it, keeping the tip directed safely and avoiding direct impact on the tympanic membrane.
      • Deliver irrigation in controlled, moderate-pressure strokes of the plunger, monitoring patient comfort and stopping the procedure if the patient experiences pain, dizziness, or other adverse symptoms.
      • After the procedure, empty and rinse the syringe, then promptly clean and decontaminate all components per the clinic’s instrument reprocessing procedure; inspect for wear or damage and remove from service if integrity is compromised.
      • Do not use the instrument if it is visibly damaged, corroded, leaking, or if any components are missing or fail to operate smoothly.

      Contraindications

      • Do not use for self-treatment by untrained individuals; the device is intended for professional clinical use only.
      • Do not use in patients with a known or suspected perforated tympanic membrane unless specifically advised by an ENT specialist.
      • Avoid use in patients with active otitis media, otitis externa or other acute ear infections, unless irrigation is specifically indicated and performed under specialist guidance.
      • Not suitable in the presence of recent ear surgery, mastoid surgery or other conditions where irrigation may be contraindicated.
      • Avoid use in patients with a history of severe vertigo or where irrigation has previously caused significant adverse reactions.
      • Do not use if the device is damaged, corroded, leaking or if any parts are missing.

      Adverse Effects

      • Potential transient discomfort, fullness or mild pain in the ear during or shortly after irrigation if pressure is excessive or technique is suboptimal.
      • Risk of dizziness or vertigo, particularly if the irrigation solution is not at body temperature or if excessive pressure is used.
      • Possible minor trauma to the external ear canal (e.g., abrasions) if the cannula is inserted too deeply or roughly.
      • If used inappropriately or in contraindicated cases, there is a risk of tympanic membrane damage or worsening of underlying ear pathology.
      • As with any reusable instrument, there is a risk of cross-infection if cleaning and disinfection/sterilisation procedures are inadequate.

      Storage Conditions

      • Store the ear syringe and cannulas in a clean, dry environment when not in use.
      • Ensure the instrument is thoroughly cleaned and dried before storage to minimise corrosion and maintain functionality.
      • Protect from extreme humidity, corrosive chemicals and physical damage.
      • Store in accordance with the healthcare facility’s policies for reusable surgical/ENT instruments (e.g., in a designated instrument tray or container).

      Duration

Not applicable as a time-based therapy; the instrument is used during single ear-irrigation procedures whose duration is determined by clinical need and local protocol.

      Onset

Immediate mechanical effect during the irrigation procedure (flushing and cleaning of the ear canal) when used by a trained professional.
