Description

Relief Reusable Hot and Cold Pack (SKU 711) is a gel-filled, reusable hot/cold therapy compress manufactured by Reliance Medical. The pack is designed to soothe muscular discomfort and help reduce swelling and bruising. When heated, it increases local circulation and provides temporary relief from muscle aches, sprains and strains, back pain, sinusitis and menstrual cramps. When cooled, it provides temporary relief from minor soft-tissue injuries, swelling, toothache, headache and fever. The clear plastic pack contains a non-toxic gel and is simple to heat or chill, with clear instructions printed directly on the pack. Usage

General: Always inspect the pack for damage or leakage before use. Ensure the gel is evenly distributed by gently kneading the pack after heating or cooling. Do not apply directly to the skin; wrap the pack in a suitable cover, towel, or dedicated sleeve before application.
Hot use – hot water method: Bring water to the boil, remove from heat, and immerse the pack fully in the hot (not boiling on heat) water for approximately 4–10 minutes. Check the pack temperature after about 4 minutes and then every 1 minute until the desired temperature is reached. Do not overheat.
Hot use – microwave method: Place the pack flat in the microwave oven. Heat according to the microwave power rating as guided on the pack (indicative guidance commonly provided by the manufacturer includes approximately 30 seconds at 600 W, 20 seconds at 700 W, and 10 seconds at 800 W or above). Adjust times carefully in small increments if needed and do not exceed recommended times.
After heating: Remove the pack carefully, check for signs of splitting or leakage, and gently knead to distribute heat evenly. Always test the temperature on the inner forearm through a cloth before applying to the treatment area.
Cold use – freezer method: Place the pack flat in a household freezer for approximately 1 hour before use to achieve the desired cold temperature. Do not leave in the freezer for significantly longer than recommended without checking firmness and flexibility.
Application: Wrap the heated or cooled pack in a cloth, towel or appropriate cover and apply to the affected area. Use for a short session at a time (commonly around 10–20 minutes per application), allowing the skin to return to normal temperature between applications. Frequency of use should be guided by comfort and any clinical advice.
Safety: Do not apply directly to bare skin. Do not sit, lie, or sleep on the pack. Discontinue use if the pack feels excessively hot or cold, or if the user experiences pain, numbness, excessive redness or irritation. Dispose of the pack if the outer pouch is punctured or leaking. Keep out of reach of children.
Medical advice: For individuals with circulatory problems, diabetes, reduced sensation, or severe or persistent pain, seek advice from a healthcare professional before using hot/cold therapy.

Contraindications

Do not use on broken, damaged, or diseased skin unless directed by a healthcare professional.
Use with caution, and only under medical advice, in patients with impaired peripheral circulation, reduced skin sensitivity, diabetes, or known sensitivity to hot/cold therapy.
Not recommended for unsupervised use in infants, very young children, or individuals unable to remove the pack themselves.
Do not ingest the gel; if the pack leaks and gel contacts eyes, mouth, or open wounds, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice.

Adverse Effects

Storage Conditions
