PDO lifting threads (multi thread arrow cog)
Description
PDO 23g x 38mm Multi Thread - 2pcs consists of two preloaded PDO (polydioxanone) arrow cog threads on 23-gauge, 38 mm needles. PDO is a biodegradable synthetic polymer traditionally used for absorbable surgical sutures. In aesthetic procedures, these cog threads provide mechanical lifting and tightening of sagging skin and also stimulate new collagen formation as they gradually degrade via hydrolysis over approximately 6–8 months. The product is intended for professional use in minimally invasive lifting procedures on the face and certain body areas by trained aesthetic practitioners. The origin of the product is stated as the European Community (EC).
Bnefits
- Biodegradable PDO threads that gradually hydrolyse over approximately 6–8 months while supporting tissue and encouraging collagen production. (EC origin stated)
- Arrow cog (barbed) configuration designed to provide improved mechanical anchoring and lifting of sagging skin compared with smooth threads.
- Provides both an immediate lifting effect and longer-term structural support via neocollagenesis.
- Suitable for professional aesthetic procedures to address mild to moderate sagging in appropriate facial and select body areas.
- Pack contains two threads, allowing focused use in small or defined treatment regions.
Indications
- Professional aesthetic lifting and tightening procedures performed by trained healthcare practitioners.
- Improvement of sagging skin and facial laxity in appropriate areas such as cheeks, jawline, and midface.
- Supportive lifting in selected body areas where PDO cog threads are indicated by clinical judgement.
Composition
- Active material: Polydioxanone (PDO) biodegradable synthetic polymer used in absorbable suture materials.
- Thread type: Arrow cog (barbed) PDO thread designed for mechanical lifting and anchoring of tissues.
- Needle: 23-gauge, 38 mm preloaded stainless needle carrying the PDO thread.
Formulation
- Implantable absorbable PDO thread device supplied sterile, pre-mounted on a 23 G x 38 mm needle.
- Biodegradable barbed thread configuration (arrow cog) to facilitate lifting and collagen stimulation.
- Intended for subdermal implantation in aesthetic lifting procedures.
Packaging
- Pack contains: 2 x PDO 23g x 38 mm arrow cog threads.
- Each thread is supplied preloaded on a 23 G x 38 mm needle, typically in sealed sterile primary packaging within an outer carton or pouch.
Usage
- For professional use only by trained aesthetic practitioners experienced with PDO thread techniques.
- Perform a thorough assessment of patient anatomy, indications, contraindications and obtain informed consent.
- Use aseptic technique in a clinical environment compliant with local infection prevention and control policies.
- Determine appropriate vectors, depths and insertion points based on training and patient-specific goals.
- Insert PDO threads via the preloaded needle into the appropriate subdermal plane and withdraw the needle to leave the thread in place.
- Deliver post-procedure care guidance: avoid strenuous facial movements, pressure on treated areas, and follow individual clinic protocols.
- Dispose of used needles and packaging in accordance with local clinical waste and sharps disposal regulations.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for patients without clear aesthetic indications determined by a trained professional.
- Known allergy or hypersensitivity to PDO or device components.
- Active infection, inflammation or open lesions in the intended treatment area.
- Uncontrolled systemic conditions or pregnancy/breastfeeding where elective aesthetic procedures are contraindicated.
Adverse Effects
- Localized swelling, bruising and tenderness at insertion sites.
- Mild to moderate discomfort or transient irregularities as tissues adapt.
- Possible infection at thread insertion points requiring appropriate clinical management.
- Rare events such as thread visibility or exposure, inflammation or granuloma formation.
Storage Conditions
- Store in original sealed packaging in a clean, dry environment at controlled room temperature.
- Protect from extremes of heat, cold, and direct sunlight.
- Do not use if packaging is damaged or the product is past the stated expiry date.
Duration
PDO threads are absorbed over approximately 6\u20138 months; clinical benefits such as improved lifting and collagen support may persist beyond the physical presence of threads as tissue remodeling continues.
Onset
Initial lifting and tightening are typically visible immediately after thread placement due to mechanical support, with further improvement in texture and firmness developing as collagen stimulation progresses.
