Professional kitchen and food-industry clogs
Description
The Birkenstock A 630 Clog is a professional polyurethane (PU) work shoe designed to meet stringent hygiene requirements and provide reliable non-slip performance, particularly in kitchens and the food industry. The fully enclosed design and treaded PU sole offer secure grip and maximum sure-footedness on wet or greasy floors. Made from oil-, grease- and water-resistant PU, the clog can be washed at temperatures up to 80°C and is suitable for daily disinfection once the removable cork-latex footbed is taken out. The anatomically shaped original BIRKENSTOCK cork-latex footbed, lined with suede, supports the natural anatomy of the foot, helping protect joints and tendons and reducing fatigue during long shifts. The footbed is washable up to 30°C and can be replaced separately when worn. The A 630 model is certified as occupational footwear in accordance with EN ISO 20347:2012 OB E (SRC category) for slip resistance, energy absorption in the heel area and basic occupational protection.

Packaging
- Supplied as one pair of clogs (left and right shoe) per retail box
- Each clog includes a removable cork-latex/suede footbed fitted inside
- Available in multiple sizes (typically EU 36–46) and colours depending on distributor stock (e.g. black, white, blue, cork brown)
- Box carries Birkenstock branding, size, width and colour information, plus certification details for EN ISO 20347:2012
Usage
- Select the correct size and width using Birkenstock’s sizing guidance to ensure that the foot sits correctly within the footbed without resting on the raised edges.
- Insert and correctly position the original cork-latex footbed inside the clog before wear.
- Wear with appropriate work socks as required by workplace hygiene and comfort preferences.
- Use as everyday occupational footwear during work shifts in kitchens, food-processing plants or other suitable workplaces, following local PPE and safety policies.
- For cleaning the clog: remove the footbed, then wash the PU clog under running water or in an appropriate washing system at temperatures up to 80°C using suitable detergents; allow to air dry away from direct heat.
- For cleaning the removable cork-latex footbed: wash gently by hand at temperatures up to 30°C, avoiding aggressive detergents; allow to air dry completely before reinserting into the clog.
- Both clog and footbed may be disinfected daily using disinfectants compatible with PU, cork and suede, following manufacturer and infection-control guidelines.
- Inspect the clogs and footbeds regularly for signs of wear, damage or deterioration in slip resistance; replace the footbeds or clogs when needed to maintain comfort and safety.
- Do not use non-original or inappropriate replacement footbeds if EN ISO 20347 certification and performance need to be maintained.
- Avoid exposing the clogs to direct high heat sources (such as radiators or open flames) or strong solvents that could damage the PU or cork.
Contraindications
- Not suitable in workplaces where additional protection such as a steel toe cap or safety footwear certified under EN ISO 20345 is specifically required instead of EN ISO 20347 occupational shoes.
- Not suitable for environments that require ESD-rated (electrostatic discharge) footwear beyond the OB E (SRC) classification.
- Use with caution in individuals with severe foot deformities, advanced diabetic neuropathy or significant circulatory disorders without professional footwear assessment.
- Users with known allergies or sensitivities to polyurethane, cork, natural leather (suede) or related materials should avoid use.
- Do not continue to use clogs that are cracked, excessively worn or have significantly reduced slip resistance, as this may compromise safety.
Adverse Effects
- If incorrectly sized or adjusted, the clogs may cause pressure points, rubbing or blisters on toes, heels or instep.
- Inadequate fit or wrong arch support may contribute to foot, knee, hip or back discomfort in some individuals with pre-existing biomechanical issues.
- Poor hygiene practices (e.g. infrequent sock changes or inadequate cleaning of clogs) may contribute to foot odour or superficial skin irritation.
- In rare cases, contact irritation or dermatitis can occur in users sensitive to PU, cork, natural leather or cleaning/disinfection products used on the shoes.
- Reduced slip resistance, if the outsole is severely worn or contaminated with certain substances, can increase the risk of slips and falls.
Storage Conditions
- Store the clogs in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Keep away from strong heat sources (radiators, heaters, open flames) that may deform the PU material or damage the footbed.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to solvents, strong acids, alkalis or harsh chemicals that may degrade polyurethane, cork or suede.
- Allow clogs and footbeds to dry fully after washing or disinfection before storing or wearing them again.
- Do not stack heavy items on top of the clogs to prevent deformation of the upper or compression of the footbed.
Duration
Not applicable as a medical treatment; intended for continuous daily occupational use for as long as the clogs and footbeds remain in good condition and retain their certified safety properties.
Onset
Support, grip and comfort benefits are experienced immediately upon correct fitting and wear; longer-term benefits in terms of reduced fatigue and joint strain depend on regular use during work shifts.
