Description

The Birkenstock Linz Super Grip Slipper - Natural Leather is a closed, professional work shoe designed for demanding environments such as medical practices, hospitals, clinics, kitchens and the food industry. Its fully enclosed upper made from comfortable, smooth natural leather (unsplit leather) provides reliable protection from impact injuries and is easy to clean. A freely adjustable backstrap with a hook-and-loop (Velcro) fastener ensures a snug, secure fit around the heel. The anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed, lined with soft suede, supports the natural contours of the foot, helping promote proper posture and protect joints and tendons during long periods of standing and walking. The Super Grip sole unit combines a cushioning EVA midsole with a nonslip, oil- and grease-resistant rubber outsole. All Super Grip soles are tested for slip resistance in accordance with EN ISO 20347:2012 and are rated in the top SRC category, making the Linz Super Grip an excellent choice where sure-footedness, comfort and durability are essential.

Usage

  • Select the appropriate size and width using Birkenstock’s sizing guide to ensure that the foot sits comfortably within the footbed without pressing against the raised edges.
  • Place the foot in the shoe and adjust the backstrap using the hook-and-loop fastener so that the heel is securely but comfortably held in place.
  • Wear with suitable work socks as required by workplace hygiene and comfort standards.
  • Use as everyday occupational footwear during work shifts in relevant environments (medical, care, kitchen, food industry), following workplace PPE and footwear policies.
  • Clean the smooth leather upper regularly with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary; avoid harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature; do not dry on radiators, in direct intense sunlight or near open flames, as excessive heat can damage leather, cork, EVA and adhesives.
  • Brush the suede footbed gently with a soft brush to remove surface dirt and maintain the nap; avoid soaking the footbed to protect the cork and adhesive.
  • Inspect the tread pattern on the rubber outsole regularly; replace the shoes when slip resistance appears significantly reduced or the tread is heavily worn.
  • If the exposed cork edges appear dry, apply a suitable cork sealant following Birkenstock care recommendations to help prolong the life of the footbed.
  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place when not in use to preserve the materials and maintain the shape of the footbed.

Contraindications

  • Not suitable as safety footwear in workplaces where EN ISO 20345-certified protective-toe or additional protective features (such as puncture-resistant midsoles) are explicitly required.
  • May not be appropriate for individuals with very wide feet or pronounced foot deformities without professional fitting advice, depending on the width option chosen.
  • Users with known allergies or sensitivities to natural leather, cork, rubber, suede or adhesives used in footwear manufacture should avoid use.
  • Use with caution in individuals with severe peripheral neuropathy, advanced diabetic foot disease or significant circulatory disorders without professional footwear assessment.
  • Do not continue to wear shoes that are visibly damaged, cracked or excessively worn, or where the tread has significantly degraded, as this may compromise safety and slip resistance.

Adverse Effects

  • If incorrectly sized or adjusted, the shoes may cause rubbing, pressure points or blisters on toes, heel or instep.
  • Inadequate arch support for an individual’s specific biomechanical needs may contribute to foot, knee, hip or back discomfort over time.
  • Insufficient foot or shoe hygiene may contribute to odour or superficial skin irritation.
  • In rare cases, contact dermatitis or irritation may occur in users sensitive to natural leather, rubber, suede or cleaning agents used on the shoes.
  • Worn or contaminated outsoles may offer reduced slip resistance, increasing the risk of slips, trips or falls in challenging environments.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight when not in use.
  • Keep away from strong heat sources such as radiators, heaters or open flames that may deform or damage leather, cork, EVA or rubber components.
  • Avoid prolonged contact with solvents, oils, strong acids, alkalis or aggressive cleaning chemicals that may degrade the materials.
  • Allow shoes to dry completely after cleaning or exposure to moisture before storing to prevent mould and material deterioration.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the shoes during storage to avoid deforming the upper or compressing the cork-latex footbed.

Duration

Not applicable as a medical treatment; intended for continuous daily occupational use for as long as the shoes remain structurally sound and retain adequate comfort and slip resistance.

Onset

Comfort, arch support, protection and slip-resistance benefits are experienced immediately upon correct fitting and wear; longer-term benefits in terms of reduced fatigue and joint strain depend on regular use over extended working periods.
