Professional medical and work clogs
Description
The Birkenstock Tokio Super Grip Clog Narrow - Natural White Leather is a professional occupational clog designed for demanding work environments such as hospitals, clinics, kitchens and service areas. Developed specifically for roles that require many hours of standing and walking, the Tokio Super Grip features an anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed that supports the natural anatomy of the foot, helping to reduce fatigue and protect joints. The smooth natural leather upper fully covers the forefoot while an adjustable backstrap with metal buckle secures the heel for enhanced stability. The two-component Super Grip sole combines a shock-absorbing EVA midsole with a nonslip, oil- and grease-resistant rubber outsole. Its tread pattern promotes an ideal rolling motion and provides reliable traction on smooth surfaces. The sole has been tested for slip resistance according to EN ISO 20347:2012 and classified in the SRA category. The narrow fit version is tailored for slimmer feet, offering a secure, close fit preferred by many healthcare and service professionals.

Packaging
- Supplied as one pair of clogs (left and right) per Birkenstock Professional retail box
- Each clog contains a permanently integrated cork-latex footbed and Super Grip sole unit
- Packaging typically indicates model name (Tokio Super Grip), style number (e.g. 61136), size, width (narrow fit), colour (natural white) and occupational classification (EN ISO 20347:2012 SRA)
- Box includes Birkenstock branding and may include basic care and use information for professional environments
Usage
- Determine the correct size and width using Birkenstock’s size guide; for narrow feet select the narrow fit version to ensure secure hold without excessive pressure.
- Place the foot in the clog and adjust the instep strap and backstrap using the metal pin buckles so that the foot is held firmly yet comfortably, with the heel seated securely in the heel cup.
- Wear with suitable work socks as required by workplace hygiene and comfort standards.
- Use as daily occupational footwear during work shifts in medical, kitchen or service environments, following workplace PPE and footwear policies.
- Clean the smooth leather upper regularly with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary; avoid harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners that may damage the leather finish.
- Allow the clogs to air dry naturally at room temperature after cleaning; do not dry near radiators, open flames or in intense direct sunlight to prevent damage to leather, cork, EVA and adhesives.
- Brush the suede footbed lining occasionally with a soft brush to remove surface dirt and maintain the nap; avoid soaking the footbed to protect the cork and adhesive.
- Inspect the rubber outsole regularly for signs of significant wear or damage; replace the clogs once the tread is noticeably worn or slip resistance has decreased.
- If the exposed cork edges appear dry, apply a suitable cork sealant according to Birkenstock care recommendations to prolong the life of the footbed.
- Store clogs in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place when not in use, away from direct heat and sunlight.
Contraindications
- Not suitable as safety footwear in workplaces where EN ISO 20345 safety shoes with protective toe caps or puncture-resistant midsoles are required.
- May not be appropriate for individuals with very wide feet or pronounced foot deformities who may require regular-width or specialist orthopaedic footwear.
- Should be used with caution, and ideally after professional assessment, in individuals with severe peripheral neuropathy, advanced diabetic foot complications or significant circulatory disorders.
- Not recommended for users with known allergies or sensitivities to natural leather, cork, rubber, suede or metal buckles unless compatibility is confirmed.
- Do not continue to use clogs that are visibly damaged (e.g. cracked sole, upper separation, severely worn tread) as safety and slip resistance may be compromised.
Adverse Effects
- If incorrectly sized or adjusted, the clogs may cause rubbing, pressure points or blisters on toes, heel or instep.
- In some individuals, prolonged use of a footbed shape that does not match their specific biomechanics may contribute to discomfort in the feet, knees, hips or lower back.
- Insufficient cleaning and drying may lead to odour, superficial skin irritation or fungal growth.
- Rarely, contact dermatitis or allergic reactions may occur in users sensitive to components such as leather tanning agents, rubber compounds, suede or metal buckles.
- Use on heavily contaminated or excessively worn outsoles may reduce slip resistance and increase the risk of slips and falls, despite the SRA rating.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Keep away from strong heat sources such as radiators, heaters or open flames that may deform or damage leather, cork, EVA and rubber components.
- Avoid prolonged contact with solvents, oils, strong acids, alkalis or aggressive cleaning agents that may degrade the leather, outsole or adhesive bonds.
- Allow clogs to dry completely after cleaning or exposure to moisture before storage to prevent mould growth and material deterioration.
- Do not place heavy objects on top of the clogs during storage to avoid deforming the upper or compressing the cork-latex footbed.
Duration
Not applicable as a medical treatment; intended for continuous daily occupational use for as long as the clogs remain structurally sound and maintain adequate comfort and slip resistance.
Onset
Comfort, arch support, stability and slip resistance are experienced immediately upon correct fitting and wear; perceived comfort typically improves further over several days as the cork-latex footbed and leather upper adapt to the wearer\u2019s feet.
