Description
The Butterfly Sleeve Adult Patient Gown – Blue Stripe is a reusable hospital gown from MIP designed to provide comfort, modesty and easy clinical access for adult patients. It features wide butterfly sleeves to better accommodate patients with larger arms, casts or dressings, a white round neckline, neck tie and side waist tie, and a generous wider sweep for a more comfortable fit. Made from a durable 50/50 poly/cotton fabric at 110 gsm, the gown is suitable for all healthcare departments and can be washed up to thermal disinfection temperatures and tumble dried on a medium heat. One size fits most adult patients.

Usage
- Place the gown on the patient with the opening to the back unless clinical protocol requires an alternative arrangement.
- Secure the neck tie behind the neck to provide comfortable coverage of the shoulders and upper back.
- Use the side waist tie to wrap and secure the gown around the patient’s body, adjusting for comfort and modesty.
- Ensure butterfly sleeves sit comfortably around the upper arms, allowing sufficient space for any casts, dressings or IV lines.
- Laundry care (follow label and institutional policy): wash at thermal disinfection temperatures as required by local infection-control standards, typically up to 71–95 °C depending on process; use appropriate detergent system for healthcare textiles.
- Tumble dry on a medium heat setting; remove promptly to minimise creasing.
- Inspect gowns regularly for wear, damage (tears, fraying ties) or staining and retire any gowns that no longer meet safety, comfort or presentation standards.
Contraindications
- Not suitable as a barrier garment for high-risk isolation or procedures requiring fluid-impermeable or sterile gowns.
- Do not use on patients where local policy mandates disposable or specialised protective gowns (e.g. certain infection-control scenarios) instead of standard reusable patient gowns.
- Do not use if the gown is visibly soiled, torn or otherwise damaged prior to patient wear.
Adverse Effects

Storage Conditions
