  • Packed for shipment by Medisave UK in protective outer packaging suitable for transport and storage.

Usage

  • Before first use, remove any packaging and inspect the clothing protector for damage or defects; do not use if damaged.
  • Position the protector so that the polyester/rayon textile side faces outward and the PVC-backed side faces towards the wearer’s clothing.
  • Place the protector around the neck with the long panel covering the front of the torso and lap area.
  • Use the snap-closure fastenings at the neck to secure the protector comfortably; adjust to ensure a snug but non-restrictive fit.
  • Ensure the protector lies flat across the chest and lap to maximise coverage and catch any spills or food debris.
  • After use, carefully remove the protector, taking care not to shake or flick food debris onto surrounding surfaces.
  • Dispose of any loose debris into appropriate waste and place the used protector into a laundry bag or basket in line with local infection-control and laundry policies.
  • Wash in accordance with the care instructions for the heavy-duty clothing protector range (commonly machine washable up to high disinfection temperatures and suitable for tumble drying on appropriate settings); avoid bleach and high-heat ironing that may damage the PVC backing.
  • Inspect after laundering to ensure the PVC backing and snap fastenings remain intact; retire and replace if cracking, delamination or damage is observed.

Contraindications

  • Not intended for use as flame-protective equipment or as a substitute for certified PPE in high-risk fire or chemical exposure environments.
  • Not suitable as a restraint device or for securing a person in a chair or bed.
  • Use with caution in individuals with severe neck contractures, tracheostomies or other conditions where fabric at the neck may require specific clinical assessment.
  • Do not use if the wearer has a known sensitivity or allergy to polyester, rayon, PVC or other components of the garment.

Adverse Effects

  • Prolonged use in hot or humid environments may cause local heat or discomfort under the PVC-backed section.
  • Possible mild skin irritation or contact dermatitis in individuals sensitive to polyester, rayon or PVC materials.
  • If improperly fitted too tightly, the neck fastening may cause discomfort or chafing at the neck.
  • If not laundered and dried thoroughly between uses, retained moisture or soiling may contribute to odour or microbial growth on the fabric.

Storage Conditions

  • Store clean, dry clothing protectors in a well-ventilated area at normal room temperature.
  • Ensure items are fully dry before stacking or storing to prevent mildew or odour.
  • Keep away from direct heat sources, open flames and sharp objects that could damage the PVC backing or fabric.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high temperatures that may degrade PVC over time.
  • Store laundered protectors separately from soiled laundry in accordance with local infection-control policies.

Duration

Used intermittently for the duration of meals or activities where spills are likely, then removed and laundered; intended for repeated long-term use over many wash cycles.

Onset

Provides protective coverage immediately once fastened around the neck and positioned over the wearer\u2019s clothing.
