FFP3 valved particulate respirator (disposable)
Description
The 3M™ Aura™ 9332+ Particulate Respirator is a flat-fold, disposable FFP3 NR D respirator with exhalation valve, designed to provide high-level protection against fine dusts, mists and metal fumes. It forms part of the 3M™ Aura™ 9300+ Series and combines low breathing resistance filter technology with a three-panel, ergonomic design that accommodates facial movement and speech. The sculpted nose panel, embossed upper panel and integrated nose clip help achieve an effective seal and improve compatibility with eyewear, while the 3M™ Cool Flow™ exhalation valve helps reduce heat build-up inside the respirator for greater comfort in hot or humid conditions and during physically demanding work. Colour-coded red headbands identify the FFP3 protection level, and each white respirator is individually hygienically packaged. This Medisave configuration is supplied as a box of 10 masks.
Bnefits
- FFP3 NR D performance providing high-level protection against fine dusts, non-volatile liquid mists and metal fume when correctly fitted and used.
- Flat-fold, three-panel Aura™ design that accommodates facial movement for improved comfort and maintains a good seal during speech.
- Low breathing resistance filter media designed to make breathing easier throughout the shift while maintaining effective filtration.
- 3M™ Cool Flow™ exhalation valve that reduces heat and moisture build-up inside the respirator, enhancing comfort in hot and humid environments or during strenuous work.
- Sculpted, low-profile nose panel and adjustable nose clip to improve seal around the nose and enhance compatibility with 3M eyewear.
- Embossed upper panel that helps reduce fogging of eyewear by directing warm exhaled air away from the nose and glasses.
- Soft nose foam and internal materials designed to feel comfortable on the skin during prolonged wear.
- Colour-coded headbands (red for FFP3) for easy identification of protection level.
- Individually hygienically packaged flat-fold design for easy storage, portability and reduced contamination prior to use.
- Compatible with a wide range of 3M eyewear and hearing protection products when worn according to instructions.
Indications
- Respiratory protection against higher levels of airborne solid particles (dusts) and non-volatile liquid particles (mists) in accordance with EN 149:2001+A1:2009 FFP3 NR D.
- Use in industrial and occupational settings such as construction, metalworking, pharmaceutical manufacturing, ceramics, foundries, woodworking and similar environments where FFP3 protection is indicated by risk assessment.
- Use in healthcare and laboratory settings for protection against particulate hazards where an FFP3-level filtering facepiece is required (e.g. certain aerosol-generating procedures), subject to local infection prevention and control policies.
- Use in environments where disposable particulate respirators are appropriate and gas or vapour hazards are not present in excess of occupational exposure limits.
Composition
- Filter media: multi-layer non-woven polypropylene electret filter.
- Head straps: polyisoprene elastic straps, colour-coded red for FFP3 protection level.
- Nose clip: aluminium strip embedded in the upper panel to allow shaping to the nose and face contours.
- Nose foam: soft polyurethane foam for improved comfort and sealing at the nose bridge.
- Valve housing: polypropylene (3M™ Cool Flow™ exhalation valve).
- Exhalation valve diaphragm: polyisoprene.
- Staples: steel staples securing the straps to the mask body.
- Product contains no components made from natural rubber latex, according to 3M technical data sheet for the Aura™ 9300+ Series.
Formulation
- Disposable, flat-fold filtering half mask respirator.
- FFP3 NR D classification under EN 149:2001+A1:2009.
- Valved design incorporating 3M™ Cool Flow™ exhalation valve.
- Three-panel Aura™ design with sculpted nose panel and embossed upper panel.
- Red colour-coded headbands to denote FFP3 protection level.
Packaging
- Box of 10 individually hygienically wrapped respirators.
- Each respirator supplied flat-folded for compact storage and to help protect from contamination prior to use.
- Outer carton printed with model designation 3M™ Aura™ 9332+, FFP3 NR D, lot number, CE marking, and expiry date.
Usage
- Before use, check that the respirator is within its stated shelf life and that both the outer carton and individual packaging are intact. Do not use if damaged or expired.
- With clean hands, remove one respirator from its packaging and unfold the panels fully, ensuring the nose clip is on the upper panel.
- Cup the respirator in one hand with the open side facing towards you and the headbands hanging freely.
- Hold the respirator under the chin with the nosepiece upwards, then pull the headbands over the head: position the upper strap high on the back of the head and the lower strap below the ears around the neck. Ensure straps are not twisted.
- Mould the nose clip firmly to the shape of your nose by pressing down with both hands, starting at the nose bridge and working outwards along the cheeks to ensure an effective seal.
- Adjust the top and bottom panels as needed so that the respirator fits comfortably and covers the nose, mouth and chin without gaps.
- Perform a fit check each time the respirator is worn by cupping both hands over the respirator and sharply inhaling and exhaling; if air leaks around the nose, readjust the nose clip; if leakage is detected at the edges, reposition the straps and panels until a good seal is achieved.
- Do not use the respirator together with facial hair, stubble or other conditions that prevent direct contact between the sealing surface and the skin, as this significantly reduces protection.
- Use the respirator only in atmospheres with sufficient oxygen (not oxygen-deficient) and within the limits specified for FFP3 NR D devices, for example up to 20 × Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL) where applicable local regulations permit.
- Discontinue use and leave the contaminated area if breathing becomes difficult, the respirator is damaged, visibly contaminated, becomes wet, or you feel dizziness, irritation or discomfort.
- After use, remove the respirator by pulling the straps over the head without touching the front facepiece, and dispose of it in accordance with local regulations for contaminated PPE.
- Do not reuse, wash, or attempt to re-sterilise the respirator; it is designated NR (non-reusable) for single-shift use only.
Contraindications
- Do not use in atmospheres containing less than the legally required minimum oxygen concentration (oxygen-deficient atmospheres) – filtering half masks do not supply oxygen.
- Do not use for protection against gases or vapours (e.g. organic solvents, acid gases) where appropriate gas/vapour filters or respirators are required.
- Not suitable for protection against unknown contaminants or concentrations that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH).
- Do not use if you have facial hair, piercings, scars, skin conditions or other factors in the sealing area that prevent an effective face seal.
- Do not use if the respirator is damaged, deformed, visibly dirty, wet, or if any component (headbands, valve, nose clip) is missing or defective.
- Individuals with existing respiratory or cardiovascular conditions should consult an occupational health professional before using tight-fitting respirators.
Adverse Effects
- Potential for discomfort, pressure marks or irritation on the nose, face or behind the head due to prolonged or tight fit.
- Increased breathing resistance compared with not wearing a respirator, which may be noticeable during heavy exertion.
- Fogging of eyewear may occur if the respirator is not correctly fitted and sealed around the nose, although the embossed top panel is designed to minimise this.
- Skin irritation or contact dermatitis in sensitive individuals due to contact with mask materials, straps or nose foam, although components are generally biocompatible and latex-free.
- Incorrect selection, poor fit or misuse can lead to inadequate protection and possible inhalation of hazardous particles, with associated health risks determined by the specific contaminant.
Storage Conditions
- Store in clean, dry conditions in the original packaging, away from direct sunlight and physical damage.
- Recommended storage temperature range: –20 °C to +25 °C with maximum relative humidity < 80%, as per 3M technical data sheet for Aura™ 9300+ Series.
- Do not store near solvents, oils or chemicals that could degrade the materials.
- Respect the manufacturer’s stated shelf life (typically 5 years from date of manufacture); do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the packaging and respirator.
- When storing or transporting, keep the respirator flat-folded as supplied, without crushing the valve or deforming the panels or nose clip.
Duration
Single-shift, single-use disposable respirator; to be worn only for the duration of exposure within one shift and discarded afterwards or sooner if damaged, contaminated, or difficult to breathe through.
Onset
Immediate \u2013 respiratory protection is provided as soon as the respirator is correctly fitted and an effective seal is achieved.
