Injection & Infusion \u2013 Syringe Holder / Pistol
Description
The Cameco Syringe Pistol for Once Syringes 10 ml is a reusable, precision-machined syringe holder designed for fine-needle aspiration and other procedures requiring controlled negative pressure. It is made from lightweight aluminium with stainless steel guides and functions as a pistol-grip handle which securely holds a compatible 10 ml ONCE disposable syringe and guides the attached needle, allowing the clinician to operate the plunger and control the needle with one hand.
Bnefits
- Provides pistol-grip, one-handed operation of a 10 ml syringe, leaving the other hand free to palpate or stabilise tissue during the procedure.
- Lightweight aluminium construction with stainless steel guides helps reduce operator fatigue while maintaining durability and stability.
- Allows precise control of needle position and aspiration pressure during fine-needle aspiration and similar procedures.
- Reusable mechanical device that can be cleaned and reprocessed according to local protocols, reducing waste from single-use aspiration handles.
- Compatible specifically with 10 ml ONCE disposable syringes, ensuring a secure fit and predictable performance.
Indications
- Use as a syringe holder/pistol for 10 ml ONCE disposable syringes during fine-needle aspiration (FNA) procedures.
- Procedures requiring controlled aspiration and precise needle guidance, such as cytology sampling of superficial or deep lesions (per local clinical protocols).
- Situations where one-handed syringe control is advantageous, allowing the operator’s other hand to palpate, support or position the target area.
Composition
- Main body: lightweight aluminium
- Guides and key structural elements: stainless steel
- Mechanical pistol-grip syringe-holding mechanism (metallic components – aluminium and stainless steel)
Formulation
- Reusable mechanical pistol-grip syringe holder for 10 ml ONCE disposable syringes
- Non-sterile on delivery; intended to be cleaned and reprocessed before clinical use according to institutional guidelines
Packaging
- Supplied as a single reusable syringe pistol/handle (1 unit per pack; outer packaging details may vary by distributor).
Usage
- Inspect the Cameco Syringe Pistol before use to ensure it is clean, intact and functioning smoothly; reprocess according to local protocols if required.
- Open the pistol handle and insert a compatible 10 ml ONCE disposable syringe into the holder, ensuring the syringe barrel seats correctly in the guides.
- Secure the syringe within the pistol mechanism so that the plunger can be operated via the pistol trigger or handle movement.
- Attach a sterile, compatible needle to the syringe Luer connection, following standard aseptic technique.
- Position the needle at the target site and, using the pistol grip, advance the needle and apply aspiration with controlled movements while maintaining one-handed control.
- After completing the aspiration, release negative pressure as per local technique, withdraw the needle and syringe from the patient, and safely disconnect and dispose of the needle and syringe according to sharps and clinical waste policies.
- Clean and reprocess the syringe pistol after each use in line with the manufacturer’s or institutional guidelines for reusable medical instruments.
Contraindications
- No device-specific contraindications are stated by distributors; use is subject to standard contraindications and precautions for fine-needle aspiration and needle-based procedures.
- Do not use if the device is visibly damaged, excessively worn, or if smooth mechanical operation cannot be achieved after cleaning and reprocessing.
Adverse Effects
- No adverse effects are intrinsic to the syringe pistol itself; any risks are those associated with needle-based aspiration procedures (e.g., bleeding, bruising, infection, patient discomfort), which should be managed according to clinical best practice.
Storage Conditions
- Store the cleaned and dried syringe pistol in a clean, dry environment, protected from dust, contamination and mechanical damage.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to corrosive chemicals or extreme temperatures that could damage the aluminium or stainless steel components.
