Irrigation Sets & Accessories
Description
The Double Lead Easyflow Irrigation Set is a sterile, single-use Y-type irrigation set designed for reliable fluid delivery in clinical irrigation procedures. It features two Easyflow spikes with protectors, a moulded chamber, dual clamps and 1524 mm tubing with a 4.95 mm internal diameter, complemented by roller and medical clamps, a catheter adapter, silicone tubing and a vented cap. Manufactured by Baxter and branded for distribution by 3S Healthcare, it is suitable for use in hospital and clinical environments where controlled irrigation is required.
Bnefits
- Y-type configuration with two Easyflow spikes allows connection of two irrigation fluid sources for flexibility and convenience.
- Integrated Easyflow spikes with protectors support safe and secure piercing of irrigation containers while reducing contamination risk.
- Moulded drip chamber enables visual monitoring of fluid flow and helps clinicians adjust irrigation rate.
- Long 1524 mm tube with 4.95 mm internal diameter provides sufficient reach from fluid source to patient while maintaining adequate flow.
- Dual clamps (including roller clamp and medical clamp) allow precise control and temporary interruption of flow when required.
- Catheter adapter and silicone tube facilitate secure connection to a range of compatible urinary or irrigation catheters.
- Vented cap design supports appropriate venting of fluid containers when indicated by protocol.
- Sterile, single-use set reduces cross-contamination risk and supports infection prevention practices.
- Compatible with standard irrigation solutions commonly used in urology and other irrigation procedures.
- Supplied by established hospital suppliers and manufactured by a recognised global infusion and irrigation systems manufacturer.
Indications
- Intended for the administration of irrigation fluids in clinical settings, such as urological bladder irrigation and similar procedures where continuous or intermittent irrigation is required.
- Use in hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities for controlled delivery of sterile irrigation solutions via catheter.
- Situations where two irrigation fluid sources (e.g. different solutions or replacement bags) are to be connected using a double-lead Y-type set.
Composition
- Two Easyflow spikes with protective caps for connection to irrigation fluid containers.
- Transparent moulded drip chamber for visual flow monitoring.
- Flexible tubing 1524 mm long with internal diameter (ID) of 4.95 mm.
- Roller clamp for fine control of flow rate.
- Additional medical clamp (on line) for on/off flow control.
- Two line clamps (as specified) for segment isolation and safety.
- Catheter adapter for connection to appropriate catheter or irrigation port.
- Silicone tube section for flexible connection between adapter and main line.
- Vented cap to allow controlled air entry when required by the irrigation setup.
- All components manufactured from medical-grade plastics and silicone suitable for sterile single-use devices.
Formulation
- Sterile, single-use, non-pyrogenic irrigation set.
- Y-type double-lead configuration with dual spikes converging to a single patient line.
- PVC or comparable medical-grade polymer tubing with silicone connector section.
- Supplied ready to use after removal from sterile packaging; non-powered device.
Packaging
- Supplied as a single Double Lead Easyflow Irrigation Set per sterile pack.
- Retail/wholesale outer cartons typically contain 25 individually packed sets (Baxter product code EMC4047 / Easyflow Irrigation Set - Double Lead).
- Medisave sells the product per set, with a listed price of approximately £29.99 inc. VAT (subject to change).
- Packaging clearly identifies product name, manufacturer, brand (3S Healthcare/Baxter), lot number and expiry date.
Usage
- Verify that the packaging is intact and within its expiry date before use; do not use if the packaging is damaged or compromised.
- Open the sterile pack using aseptic technique immediately prior to the procedure.
- Close all clamps on the set before connecting to fluid sources.
- Insert each Easyflow spike into the designated irrigation solution container(s) according to local protocol, ensuring a secure and aseptic connection.
- Prime the line by filling the drip chamber to the recommended level and opening clamps gradually to expel air from the tubing, then close clamps once priming is complete.
- Connect the catheter adapter and silicone tubing securely to the patient’s irrigation catheter or access port, following device compatibility and clinical guidelines.
- Adjust the roller clamp and other clamps as needed to achieve the desired irrigation flow rate, monitoring the drip chamber and patient response.
- During use, regularly check the set for kinks, disconnections or leaks and ensure all clamps and connections remain secure.
- At the end of the procedure or when the irrigation fluids are finished, close all clamps, disconnect from the patient and fluid sources, and dispose of the entire set in appropriate clinical waste according to local regulations.
- Do not attempt to re-sterilise or reuse the irrigation set; it is intended strictly for single use.
Contraindications
- Do not use if the sterile packaging is damaged, opened prior to use, or if the product appears contaminated.
- Not intended for use with blood or blood products unless explicitly authorised by the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Do not use with non-compatible fluids or solutions that may interact with material components (e.g. certain solvents or oils) beyond standard irrigation solutions.
- Not suitable for reuse; reusing single-use irrigation sets may lead to infection, device failure or inaccurate flow control.
- Use only with compatible catheters and connectors as per clinical guidelines and manufacturer recommendations.
Adverse Effects
- Device-related complications are generally associated with improper setup or use, such as air introduction, leaks or incorrect flow rate.
- Potential for fluid leakage or disconnection if clamps and connections are not correctly secured.
- Risk of infection if aseptic technique is not followed or if the set is reused contrary to instructions.
- Excessive irrigation pressure or flow may contribute to patient discomfort or tissue trauma if not controlled appropriately; clinical monitoring is required.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of excessive heat.
- Keep in original packaging until point of use to maintain sterility and protect from physical damage.
- Avoid compression, bending or crushing of cartons that could damage spikes, chambers or tubing.
- Store in accordance with standard hospital or clinic protocols for sterile single-use devices and within the temperature range specified on the packaging.
Duration
Used for the duration of an irrigation procedure or for a single patient session; the set should be discarded after completion of use in accordance with single-use labelling.
Onset
Provides functional irrigation flow as soon as the line is primed and clamps are opened, in accordance with the selected flow rate.
