Detergent surface wipes for multi-surface cleaning and damp dusting
Description
Medipal Detergent Wipes - Refill Bag of 275 are alcohol-free, neutral pH multi-surface cleaning wipes designed for routine environmental cleaning and damp dusting in healthcare and care environments. Each pre-saturated wipe contains a detergent solution formulated with environmentally considerate, VOC-free ingredients that lift and remove soil and contamination from hard, non-porous surfaces without leaving visible residue or smearing. The wipes are supplied in a high-capacity soft refill bag intended for use in compatible dispensers or as a standalone pack, providing an easy-to-use, ready-to-go option for staff. They are intended for cleaning rather than disinfection and are suitable for patient-shared equipment and general surface cleaning where there is a low risk of infection or as a pre-cleaning step before disinfectant use.
Bnefits
- Ideal for multi-surface cleaning and damp dusting of hard, non-porous surfaces in healthcare and care environments.
- Alcohol-free formulation reduces the risk of skin dryness, material damage and fume build-up associated with alcohol-containing products.
- Neutral pH detergent solution helps maintain material compatibility while effectively removing everyday soiling.
- Low-smear formula leaves no visible residue, helping to maintain a clean, professional appearance on surfaces such as plastics, metals and coated materials.
- Formulated with VOC-free, environmentally considerate ingredients, supporting sustainability goals.
- Detergent solution uses surfactants and naturally derived components to lift and remove contamination, leaving surfaces visibly clean and streak-free.
- High-wipe-count refill bag (275 wipes) reduces the need for frequent replacement and is convenient for busy clinical areas.
- Ready-to-use format removes the need for dilution or mixing, reducing dosing errors and saving staff time.
- Compatible with surface cleaning of patient-shared equipment where there is a low risk of infection, or as a pre-clean step before disinfectant wipes or sprays are used.
- Supports infection prevention protocols by standardising cleaning practice and providing a dedicated cleaning product separate from disinfectants.
Indications
- Routine cleaning and damp dusting of hard, non-porous surfaces in healthcare, care and clinical environments.
- Cleaning of patient-shared equipment and furniture where a low risk of infection is identified and detergent cleaning is appropriate.
- Removal of visible dirt and organic material from surfaces before subsequent disinfection, particularly when using disinfectant wipes or sprays.
- General housekeeping and environmental cleaning in treatment rooms, wards, consulting rooms, waiting areas and ancillary spaces.
- Use in settings such as hospitals, clinics, GP surgeries, dental practices, care homes and aesthetic/dermatology treatment facilities.
Composition
- Aqueous detergent cleaning solution containing a blend of surfactants to remove soil and contamination from surfaces.
- Naturally derived detergent components designed to provide effective cleaning while being environmentally considerate.
- Formulation specifically stated by the manufacturer to be VOC free (no added volatile organic solvents).
- Neutral pH (approximately skin-balanced) solution to support material compatibility and user comfort during frequent use.
- Preservatives and stabilisers as required to maintain product integrity over its shelf life (exact substances detailed in the safety data sheet).
- Non-woven wipe substrate (Pal proprietary Tritex®-type or similar synthetic material in canisters/buckets, and a compatible non-woven substrate for refill formats) engineered for strength and consistent liquid release.
- No alcohol and no disinfectant actives (the product is for cleaning only, not disinfection).
Formulation
- Pre-saturated, single-use detergent wipes supplied in a high-capacity refill bag containing 275 wipes.
- Cleaning solution formulated with VOC-free, surfactant-based detergents and naturally derived ingredients for effective soil removal.
- Neutral pH, alcohol-free formula designed for routine use on compatible hard surfaces and equipment.
- Low-smear, low-residue characteristics to minimise streaking and visible film after surfaces dry.
- Wipes manufactured from strong, low-lint non-woven material to withstand use on multiple surface types and to deliver controlled liquid release.
- Non-sterile, ready-to-use cleaning wipes intended for environmental cleaning rather than direct patient application.
Packaging
- Soft refill bag containing 275 pre-saturated detergent wipes.
- Refill configuration designed to replenish compatible Medipal detergent wipe dispensers or be used directly from the bag, depending on local practice.
- High-wipe-count format reduces packaging per wipe and minimises storage footprint compared with multiple small tubs.
- Outer case quantities (as supplied by distributors) typically contain multiple refill bags for bulk use in healthcare facilities.
- Packaging clearly identifies the product as Medipal Detergent Wipes with key features (alcohol free, neutral pH, low smear formula, no visible residue) and basic usage guidance.
Usage
- For professional use in healthcare, care or similar environments; follow local cleaning and infection prevention policies, including any PPE requirements.
- Open the refill bag or place it into a compatible dispenser according to dispenser instructions, ensuring the opening can be resealed between uses to minimise drying.
- Dispense a single wipe; close or reseal the bag/dispenser after each use to maintain wipe moisture.
- If surfaces are heavily soiled, use the wipe to remove visible dirt and organic matter first; more than one wipe may be required for large or heavily soiled areas.
- Wipe the surface using an S-shaped motion, working from cleaner areas towards dirtier areas, and avoid going over the same area twice with the same side of the wipe whenever possible.
- Use the wipe flat rather than scrunched to maximise contact area and cleaning efficiency.
- Ensure that all target areas are thoroughly wiped so that soil is lifted from the surface; for pre-cleaning before disinfection, ensure visible contamination is fully removed.
- Allow the surface to air dry; the low-smear formula is designed to leave no visible residue when used as directed.
- Discard used wipes into the appropriate waste stream in line with local waste management procedures; do not flush wipes down toilets.
- Do not attempt to re-use wipes once they have been used; always take a fresh wipe for each new area or when the wipe becomes visibly soiled or dry.
Contraindications
- Not intended for disinfection or high-level decontamination; should not be used as a substitute for disinfectant wipes or solutions where disinfection is required.
- Not suitable for use on invasive medical devices or instruments, or on devices that require sterilisation.
- Not designed for direct application to skin, open wounds, mucous membranes or other body sites.
- Avoid use on surfaces or materials that are sensitive to water or detergents (e.g. some unsealed wood, certain electronic components where liquid ingress may cause damage), unless the device or surface manufacturer confirms compatibility.
- Do not use in combination with other chemical cleaners on the same surface without confirming compatibility, as residues from other products may interact or affect performance.
- Not appropriate in situations where a chlorine, alcohol, or other specific disinfectant chemistry is mandated by local infection control policy for pathogen control.
Adverse Effects
- Prolonged or repeated skin contact with the detergent solution may cause mild irritation or dryness in susceptible individuals.
- Eye contact with the solution may cause transient irritation; affected eyes should be rinsed with plenty of clean water and medical advice sought if symptoms persist.
- Ingestion of the solution is not intended and may cause gastrointestinal discomfort; medical attention should be sought if swallowed.
- Spillages of liquid from the bag or from heavily used wipes on smooth flooring may temporarily increase slip risk until dried.
- Rare allergic or sensitivity reactions to components of the formulation are possible; exposure should be discontinued if such reactions occur and appropriate medical advice obtained.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, in accordance with the guidance on the packaging and safety data sheet.
- Keep the refill bag tightly closed or properly resealed when not in use to prevent drying of the wipes.
- Do not store near strong oxidising agents or incompatible chemicals.
- Keep out of reach of children and unauthorised persons.
- Use within the shelf life printed on the packaging; once opened, use wipes within a reasonable in-use period recommended by the manufacturer or local policy to ensure performance.
- Protect the bag from puncture or crushing that could lead to leakage of the detergent solution.
Duration
Single-use, episodic cleaning product. Each wipe is used once for cleaning a surface or piece of equipment, with the cleaning effect occurring during wiping and as the surface dries. Overall duration and frequency of use are determined by local cleaning schedules and risk assessments rather than a fixed treatment course.
Onset
Cleaning action begins immediately on contact with the surface as the detergent solution and wipe mechanically remove soil and contamination. Visible cleaning benefits (removal of dirt and reduction of streaks) are apparent once wiping is completed and the surface has dried.
