Alcohol-free surface disinfectant wipes for food-contact hard surfaces

Description

Medipal PAL TX Surface Disinfectant Wipes (Tub of 1500) are alcohol-free, QUAT-free and PHMB-free disinfectant wipes specifically designed for rapid cleaning and disinfection of food-contact hard surfaces. Each blue wipe is made from Tritex non-woven material (20 gsm, 195 x 195 mm) and is impregnated with a triamine-based disinfectant solution containing N,N-bis(3-aminopropyl) dodecylamine. The formulation is food safe, Halal certified and ideal for alcohol-sensitive environments, providing broad-spectrum bactericidal, yeasticidal and virucidal activity with proven efficacy against a wide range of organisms at contact times between 1 and 5 minutes. The 1500-wipe 8 litre bucket format is intended for high-usage food manufacturing, processing and service environments, helping maintain hygienic surfaces while avoiding taint and visible residue.

Usage

  • For professional use only; always follow site risk assessments, HACCP plans and local hygiene policies, including PPE requirements (e.g. gloves).
  • Open the bucket’s dispenser lid as instructed and pull the first wipe through the opening; reseal between uses to minimise drying.
  • Use one wipe at a time. If the surface is visibly soiled, use the wipe to remove dirt and organic matter first; heavily soiled areas may require more than one wipe or a separate pre-cleaning step.
  • Wipe the surface thoroughly using an S-shaped motion, working from the cleanest area towards the dirtiest area. Use the wipe flat rather than scrunched to maximise coverage.
  • Ensure that the surface is fully wetted by the disinfectant solution. Do not re-wipe the same area with the same side of a heavily soiled wipe.
  • Allow the surface to remain visibly wet for at least the required contact time for the target organisms: - 1 minute: Campylobacter jejuni, E. coli O157, Escherichia coli, Lactobacillus brevis, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella Typhimurium, Serratia marcescens, Shigella sonnei, Candida albicans. - 5 minutes: Enterococcus hirae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and enveloped viruses (e.g. coronavirus) according to EN methods.
  • Use additional wipes if the surface dries before the specified contact time has elapsed or if the wipe becomes dry or visibly soiled.
  • After the required contact time, allow the surface to air dry. Follow local policies regarding any required rinsing of food-contact surfaces before direct food contact.
  • Dispose of used wipes in accordance with local waste regulations; do not flush wipes down toilets.
  • Close the dispenser lid securely after use to maintain wipe moisture and product performance.
  • Refer to the product data sheet and safety data sheet for any additional handling, compatibility, and safety information.

Contraindications

  • Not for direct application to food, human or animal skin, open wounds or mucous membranes.
  • Not intended for disinfection of invasive medical devices or instruments that require sterilisation.
  • Do not use on materials that are incompatible with the triamine disinfectant solution (e.g. certain sensitive coatings, some uncured plastics or rubber) without prior compatibility testing.
  • Avoid use on powered electrical equipment where liquid ingress may pose a safety hazard, unless specifically allowed by the equipment manufacturer and used with great care.
  • Do not mix or use concurrently on the same surface with other chemical cleaners or disinfectants without verifying compatibility, as this can compromise efficacy or cause unwanted reactions.
  • Not suitable for environments where a different specified chemistry (e.g. chlorine-based sporicidal) is required by regulation or site policy for particular pathogens.
  • Use only in well-ventilated areas if large numbers of wipes are used extensively in a confined space, as vapours or odours may accumulate.

Adverse Effects

  • Prolonged or repeated skin contact with the impregnated solution may cause mild irritation or dryness in some individuals; gloves are recommended where frequent use is expected.
  • Eye contact with the solution may cause irritation, redness and discomfort; affected eyes should be rinsed thoroughly with clean water and medical advice sought if symptoms persist.
  • Ingestion of the solution is not intended and may cause gastrointestinal upset; medical advice should be sought if swallowed.
  • Inhalation of aerosols or vapours in poorly ventilated spaces could cause transient respiratory or throat irritation in sensitive individuals.
  • Rare allergic or hypersensitivity reactions to the active ingredient or other components of the formulation may occur; discontinue exposure and seek medical advice if significant irritation or systemic symptoms develop.
  • Spills on smooth flooring may increase slip risk until cleaned and dried.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in the original, tightly closed bucket in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight, heat sources and extremes of temperature to maintain solution stability and wipe moisture.
  • Do not allow the product to freeze or overheat for prolonged periods.
  • Keep the dispenser lid closed when not in use to prevent wipes from drying out and to minimise contamination.
  • Store away from food, drink and animal feed when possible, in accordance with local hygiene and chemical storage regulations.
  • Keep out of reach of children and unauthorised personnel.
  • Refer to the product label or specification for shelf-life information and do not use beyond the stated expiry date.

Duration

Single-use surface disinfection product. Each application involves wiping the surface and maintaining wet contact for 1\u20135 minutes depending on the target organism. There is no fixed overall treatment course; frequency and duration of use are determined by local cleaning and disinfection schedules, HACCP plans and risk assessments.

Onset

Disinfection begins immediately upon application of the solution to the surface. Under EN test conditions, many bacteria and yeasts are effectively inactivated within 1 minute, and more resistant organisms (e.g. certain bacteria and enveloped viruses) within up to 5 minutes, provided the surface remains visibly wet for the required contact time.
