Patient skin cleansing wash cloths / wet wipes
Description
Medipal Skin Cleansing Wash Cloths (Pack of 8) are pre-moistened, biodegradable patient wash cloths enriched with vitamins B5 and E, Aloe Vera and added moisturisers. Designed for convenient bed bathing and personal cleansing, they gently cleanse, deodorise and refresh the skin while helping to hydrate and maintain the skin barrier. The cloths are alcohol free, lanolin and paraben free, dermatologically tested and formulated with a skin-friendly pH around 5.5, making them suitable for regular use on fragile and sensitive skin in healthcare, care-home and community settings. Each flow pack contains 8 large wash cloths for single-patient use as part of a structured patient hygiene routine or hand hygiene strategy.

Packaging
- Flow pack containing 8 pre-moistened skin cleansing wash cloths.
- Pack dimensions designed for bedside use and easy storage on trolleys or in lockers.
- Typical case configuration: 30 packs per case (240 wash cloths per case), depending on distributor.
- Resealable label or closure to help maintain wipe moisture during use on the same patient episode (short term).
- Outer packaging printed with product name, key features (alcohol free, dermatologically tested, skin-friendly pH, lanolin/paraben free) and usage information.
- Marked with product codes such as S658110WPFS, BA112 or equivalent distributor codes for ordering and stock control.
Usage
- For external use only. Follow local patient hygiene and infection prevention policies.
- Open the flow pack by peeling back the resealable label or opening the pack as indicated.
- Remove one wash cloth at a time. Reseal the pack promptly after each removal to help prevent the remaining cloths from drying out.
- Use the cloth to gently cleanse the desired area of skin (e.g. hands, face, body), using light, sweeping motions. Avoid excessive rubbing, especially on fragile or compromised skin.
- If carrying out a full bed bath, use a systematic approach (e.g. face, torso, arms, legs, perineal area) with a fresh cloth for each area as required, following local protocols and infection prevention guidance.
- There is no need to rinse the skin after use; allow the skin to air dry or gently pat dry with a clean towel if required.
- Dispose of used cloths in the appropriate waste stream as per local policy. Do not flush wash cloths down toilets and do not macerate unless specifically approved by the manufacturer (these cloths are generally marked DO NOT MACERATE / DO NOT FLUSH).
- Close and store the pack in a cool, dry place between uses during the same care episode. For infection control, use the pack for a single patient episode where required by local policy.
- Discontinue use and seek advice if redness, irritation or other signs of sensitivity appear.
- Keep out of reach of children when not under professional supervision.
Contraindications
- Not for use on broken skin, open wounds or mucous membranes unless directed by a healthcare professional.
- Not suitable for use on patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the listed or suspected ingredients (e.g. Aloe Vera, fragrance components, preservatives).
- Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Not designed as a disinfectant product and should not be relied upon for antimicrobial skin disinfection where surgical or high-level skin antisepsis is required.
- Do not use if the pack is damaged, the cloths are dry or discoloured, or the product is past its expiry date.
Adverse Effects
- Mild transient skin irritation, redness or dryness may occur in susceptible individuals, particularly with very frequent use.
- Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions to components (e.g. fragrance, preservatives, Aloe Vera or vitamin derivatives) are possible but expected to be uncommon; symptoms may include itching, rash or swelling.
- Eye contact with the solution may cause stinging or irritation; thorough rinsing is recommended and medical advice should be sought if symptoms persist.
- Ingestion of the solution is not intended and may cause gastrointestinal discomfort; medical advice should be sought if significant ingestion occurs.
- If any serious or persistent adverse reaction occurs, use should be discontinued and medical assessment obtained.
Storage Conditions
- Store in the original, tightly closed packaging in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place.
- Keep away from direct sunlight, heat sources and freezing temperatures to maintain product quality and wipe moisture.
- Do not store near strong oxidising agents or incompatible chemicals.
- Ensure the resealable opening is properly closed between uses to prevent the cloths from drying out.
- Keep out of reach of children when not in professional use.
- Observe the expiry date printed on the pack or outer case and do not use after this date.
Duration
Used on an as-needed basis for single cleansing episodes or as part of a daily patient hygiene routine. Each cloth is single use; overall duration and frequency of use are determined by patient care plans and local hygiene protocols rather than a fixed course.
Onset
Cleansing, deodorising and refreshing effects occur immediately upon wiping the skin. Hydrating and moisturising benefits develop during and shortly after application as the solution is absorbed by the skin.
