Sterile latex examination gloves
Description
Premier Sterile Powder Free Latex Gloves - Small x 50 are sterile, powder-free latex examination gloves supplied as 50 pairs (100 gloves) for single use. They feature strong beaded cuffs for added strength, a textured surface for superior grip and ease of donning, and are designed to provide high levels of strength, sensitivity and dexterity. Extractable protein and residual chemical levels are kept extremely low to help reduce the risk of adverse skin reactions. The gloves are ambidextrous, fit either hand and conform to BS EN 455 as medical examination gloves.
Bnefits
- Sterile, powder-free latex examination gloves suitable for procedures requiring a sterile barrier.
- Strong beaded cuffs add durability and reduce the risk of tearing during donning and use.
- High levels of strength, tactile sensitivity and dexterity support precise clinical work.
- Textured surface provides superior grip and makes the gloves easier to don than many other powder-free latex gloves.
- Very low extractable protein and residual chemical levels help to reduce the likelihood of latex-related skin reactions.
- Ambidextrous design allows each glove to fit either hand, simplifying stock management and use.
- Conforms to BS EN 455, supporting medical-grade quality and performance.
Indications
- Use as a sterile examination glove for medical, dental and clinical procedures where sterility is required.
- Protection of healthcare workers and patients from cross-contamination and exposure to blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious materials.
- Procedures in hospitals, theatres (where appropriate), outpatient clinics, GP surgeries and dental practices requiring sterile, powder-free latex gloves.
- Tasks where high tactile sensitivity and good instrument grip are important, such as minor procedures or aseptic techniques.
Composition
- Material: Natural rubber latex (powder free).
- Low extractable latex proteins to reduce the risk of latex-related skin reactions.
- Low residual processing chemicals to minimise the chance of irritant or allergic contact dermatitis.
- Texturing on the external surface to enhance grip.
- Beaded cuff for added strength and easier donning.
Formulation
- Sterile, single-use, powder-free latex examination gloves.
- Size: Small.
- Ambidextrous design (each glove fits either left or right hand).
- Textured outer surface for improved grip.
- Standard cuff length with strong beaded cuff.
- Conforms to BS EN 455 medical glove standards.
Packaging
- Box containing 50 pairs (100 gloves) of Premier sterile powder-free latex examination gloves, size Small.
- Gloves supplied as sterile pairs in individual inner packs (pairs) inside the outer carton.
- Outer box printed with product name, size, quantity, batch/lot number, expiry date and conformity information.
Usage
- Check the packaging and expiry date before use; do not use if the box or sterile inner packs are damaged or opened.
- Perform hand hygiene according to local protocol prior to donning gloves.
- Open the sterile inner pack carefully using aseptic technique and remove the gloves without touching non-sterile surfaces.
- Don gloves one hand at a time, taking care not to tear the glove with fingernails, jewellery or sharp objects.
- Ensure the beaded cuff is pulled over the wrist for full coverage and a secure fit.
- Use each pair of gloves for a single patient/procedure only; do not reuse or attempt to re-sterilise.
- If a glove becomes torn, punctured or heavily contaminated during use, remove and replace with a new sterile pair as soon as safe.
- After the procedure, remove gloves using an appropriate technique to avoid contamination of the hands and dispose of them in clinical/infectious waste.
- Perform hand hygiene immediately after glove removal.
Contraindications
- Known or suspected allergy or hypersensitivity to natural rubber latex or any component of the gloves.
- Do not use if the packaging or sterile inner packs are damaged, opened or past the printed expiry date.
- Not suitable where a non-latex glove is specifically indicated (e.g. for patients or staff with confirmed latex allergy).
- Not intended for reuse or re-sterilisation; reusing single-use gloves increases risk of failure and cross-contamination.
Adverse Effects
- Potential for latex-related allergic reactions, including local skin irritation, urticaria or, rarely, more severe systemic reactions in sensitised individuals.
- Possible irritant contact dermatitis due to occlusion, perspiration or residual processing chemicals, especially with prolonged or repeated use.
- Discomfort, sweating or skin maceration with extended wear common to occlusive gloves.
- If a glove fails (tears or punctures) unnoticed, there is a risk of contamination or infection.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid excessive heat, humidity and ozone sources which may degrade latex.
- Keep in the original outer carton and inner sterile packaging until required for use.
- Observe expiry dates and rotate stock on a first-expiry, first-out basis.
Duration
Not applicable; gloves provide barrier protection only while worn and are intended for single-use during individual procedures.
Onset
Immediate barrier protection upon correct donning of intact gloves.
