Exfoliating AHA/BHA serum
Description
Institut Esthederm Intensive AHA Peel Concentrated Serum is a 30 ml exfoliating facial serum formulated with a 12% complex of fruit-derived AHAs and BHA (4% glycolic acid, 2.5% lactic acid, 3.5% citric acid and 2% salicylic acid). This light, velvety, leave-on serum gently but intensively renews the skin surface, smooths texture, tightens enlarged pores and brightens dull, uneven skin. It helps reduce the appearance of dark spots and post-acne marks, evens skin tone and delivers a visible
ew skin\ effect. Designed mainly for combination to oily skin with dilated pores and irregular microrelief, it can be used as a home-care alternative or complement to professional chemical peels and aesthetic procedures.

Packaging
- 30 ml bottle, typically with pump dispenser.
- Supplied in branded Institut Esthederm Intensive range outer carton with usage instructions and ingredient list.
- Intended as professional-grade home-care skincare, often retailed through clinics, pharmacies and professional skincare outlets.
Usage
- Apply in the evening to clean, dry skin on the face and neck; some protocols also include the décolleté.
- Use 1–2 pumps or a small amount of serum, spreading evenly while avoiding the eye contour and mucous membranes.
- Leave on for approximately 15 minutes before applying a moisturiser, in order to preserve the skin’s pH balance as recommended by Institut Esthederm.
- Do not rinse off unless otherwise directed by a professional.
- Many professional protocols advise using Intensive AHA Peel Gentle Serum first for about 8 weeks to build tolerance, then transitioning to the Concentrated Serum if the skin tolerates acids well.
- Use strictly in the evening; do not combine at the same application with multiple other strong exfoliating or sensitising actives unless directed by a professional.
- During use and for at least a week afterwards, apply broad-spectrum high SPF daily, wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure due to increased photosensitivity from AHAs/BHA.
- Do not apply to irritated, broken, sunburned or freshly treated skin (e.g. immediately post-laser or post-peel) unless specifically directed by a clinician.
- Adjust frequency (e.g. every night vs. every other night) based on skin type, sensitivity and professional advice.
- Discontinue use and seek professional guidance if marked irritation, burning or persistent redness occurs.
Contraindications
- Known allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, particularly glycolic, lactic, citric or salicylic acids, or fragrance components.
- Very sensitive, reactive or rosacea-prone skin that does not tolerate chemical exfoliants.
- Inflamed, broken, eczematous, sunburned or otherwise compromised skin in the intended treatment area.
- Recent in-office procedures such as strong chemical peels, ablative lasers or microneedling in the treatment area, unless the treating professional explicitly approves its use.
- Concurrent use of potent topical or oral retinoids without clinician-supervised scheduling, as this may significantly increase irritation risk.
- Use immediately before or after waxing, shaving or hair removal procedures on the same area.
- Caution during pregnancy or breastfeeding; use should be discussed with a healthcare professional, especially due to the presence of leave-on salicylic acid.
- Individuals with a history of severe photosensitivity disorders unless carefully supervised.
Adverse Effects
- Transient tingling, stinging or warmth on application, especially during the first uses.
- Temporary redness or mild irritation, particularly on more sensitive areas.
- Dryness, flaking or peeling as part of the exfoliation process, especially if used too frequently or in combination with other exfoliants.
- Increased sensitivity to sunlight and heightened risk of sunburn if adequate photoprotection is not used.
- Potential for irritant contact dermatitis if overused or if the skin barrier is already compromised.
- In rare cases, more pronounced burning, persistent erythema, oedema or discomfort, which should prompt discontinuation and professional review.
- Possible exacerbation of underlying inflammatory skin conditions if used without appropriate medical guidance.
Storage Conditions
- Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
- Ensure the cap or pump is tightly closed after each use to maintain product stability.
- Do not freeze.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
Duration
Typically used as an intensive evening course for around 6–8 weeks, often following an initial 6–8 week phase with Intensive AHA Peel Gentle Serum. Duration and frequency should be individualised by a skincare professional according to skin tolerance, type and treatment goals.
Onset
Initial improvements in radiance and smoothness are often noticeable within the first 1–2 weeks of regular use, with more visible changes in pore size, uneven tone, dark spots and surface irregularities generally developing progressively over several weeks of consistent application.
