Clear 10 mL oral dispensing syringe with slip oral tip and tip cap

Description

The BD™ 10 mL Oral Dispensing Syringe, Clear, Non-Sterile with Tip Cap (REF 305219) is a single-use, clear polypropylene oral syringe designed for accurate measurement and administration of oral and enteral liquid medications. The syringe features an oral (non-Luer) slip tip to help prevent accidental parenteral use and includes a compatible tip cap for secure storage and transport of prepared doses. Easy-to-read metric graduations along the clear barrel support precise dosing, and the device is disposable and non-sterile, intended for oral/enteral use only by healthcare professionals or under their direction.

Bnefits

  • Clear barrel with easy-to-read metric graduations to support accurate measurement of 10 mL oral and enteral medication doses.
  • Oral (non-Luer) slip tip design helps prevent misconnections with IV or parenteral systems, improving patient safety.
  • Tip cap included to allow temporary storage and secure transport of pre-drawn oral doses while helping to minimise leakage and contamination risk.
  • Non-sterile, single-use construction suitable for routine oral and enteral medication dosing in wards, pharmacies, clinics and home-care settings.
  • Use of oral syringes provides better volumetric accuracy than spoons or cups, helping reduce dosing errors, especially in paediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Polypropylene barrel and plunger designed for compatibility with a wide range of liquid oral medications.
  • Latex-free and BPA-/DEHP-free construction (per BD oral syringe specifications) reduces risk of material-related sensitivities.
  • Supplied in boxes of 100 syringes to support efficient stock management in hospitals, community care and aesthetic/dermatology clinics.

Indications

  • Measurement and administration of prescribed liquid oral medications.
  • Enteral administration of liquid medicines via appropriate enteral access devices when used with suitable connectors, according to local protocols.
  • Preparation and dispensing of unit-dose oral medications in hospital, pharmacy, clinic or community settings.
  • Oral/enteral dosing in paediatric, adult and geriatric patients where accurate volume measurement is important.
  • Use in aesthetic and dermatology practice for accurate oral or enteral dosing of medications around aesthetic procedures (e.g. analgesics, antibiotics), under clinician direction.

Composition

  • Barrel: clear medical-grade polypropylene with printed metric graduation scale up to 10 mL.
  • Plunger: polypropylene plunger rod with elastomeric plunger tip suitable for oral/enteral liquids.
  • Tip: oral slip tip (non-Luer) designed specifically for oral/enteral use.
  • Tip cap: compatible plastic cap for sealing the oral tip after filling.
  • Latex-free, BPA-free and DEHP-free construction, non-sterile, single-use.

Formulation

  • Non-sterile, disposable 10 mL oral dispensing syringe with clear polypropylene barrel, oral slip tip, tip cap and metric graduation markings, designed for oral/enteral dosing only.

Packaging

  • Box of 100 clear 10 mL BD™ oral dispensing syringes with tip caps (shelfpack quantity: 100).
  • Each syringe supplied non-sterile, typically bulk-packed in inner packaging within the outer carton.
  • Outer carton labelled with BD branding, product description, reference/SKU 305219, volume (10 mL), oral tip, non-sterile status, quantity per box (100) and standard regulatory symbols.
  • Case quantity from BD master data: 500 syringes per case (5 shelfpacks of 100), though Medisave retails as box of 100.

Usage

  • Confirm that the syringe is intended for oral/enteral use only and is not to be connected to IV or parenteral lines.
  • If supplied with a tip cap in place, remove the cap immediately before drawing up medication.
  • Using aseptic dispensing technique as appropriate, draw the prescribed volume of liquid oral medication into the syringe, aligning the plunger edge with the correct graduation marking.
  • Reapply the tip cap if the dose is to be stored briefly or transported; ensure the cap is firmly seated to minimise leakage.
  • When administering, remove the tip cap, place the oral tip gently into the patient’s mouth (or appropriate enteral connector), and depress the plunger steadily to deliver the dose.
  • After use, discard the syringe and tip cap immediately into an appropriate waste container; do not attempt to wash or reuse.
  • Follow local protocols regarding labelling of pre-drawn doses, maximum storage times and handling of oral medications.
  • Do not use the syringe if visibly damaged, cracked or if graduation markings are illegible.

Contraindications

  • Not for parenteral, intravenous or intramuscular injection; oral/enteral use only.
  • Do not use for administration of medications that are incompatible with polypropylene or the syringe components, according to drug manufacturer guidance.
  • Not to be used if the syringe is visibly damaged, contaminated or if packaging integrity has been compromised.
  • Not suitable for uses requiring sterile devices; this product is supplied non-sterile.

Adverse Effects

  • Potential dosing errors if the syringe is not used or read correctly (e.g. incorrect graduation alignment).
  • Risk of aspiration or choking if oral administration technique is inappropriate, particularly in patients with swallowing difficulties.
  • Cross-contamination risk if the syringe is reused or shared between patients, contrary to single-use instructions.
  • Medication-specific adverse effects related to the drug being administered rather than the syringe itself.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a clean, dry environment at normal room temperature.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and extremes of heat or cold that could affect plastic integrity or printed graduations.
  • Maintain syringes in their original packaging until use to protect from dust, moisture and contamination.
  • Do not use beyond the manufacturer’s indicated expiry date.
  • Store out of reach of children and unauthorised persons.
