Mixed-technology Alexandrite & Nd:YAG dermatologic laser with external cold air skin cooling system

Description

The Quanta Duetto MT EVO is a high-end mixed-technology dermatologic laser platform designed for hair removal, vascular treatments and skin rejuvenation. It combines Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser sources that can be delivered as single, sequential or simultaneous (mixed) emissions. This flexibility, together with large spot sizes, a wide range of pulse durations and high repetition rates, makes the system suitable for all skin phototypes and a wide spectrum of indications including permanent hair reduction, vascular lesions and non-ablative skin rejuvenation. When paired with the Zimmer Cryo 6 cold air system, the device offers powerful epidermal protection and analgesia by delivering continuous streams of cold air to the treatment area before, during or after laser exposure, enhancing patient comfort and safety while minimizing the risk of thermal injury.

Bnefits

  • Dual-wavelength mixed technology: Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm, usable in single, sequential or simultaneous mixed emission modes.
  • Treats a broad range of indications including permanent hair reduction, vascular lesions and skin rejuvenation with one platform.
  • Suitable for all skin types and tones (I–VI) and a wide range of hair types by tailoring wavelength, fluence, pulse width and emission mode.
  • Large spot sizes and fast repetition rates enable rapid treatment of large body areas.
  • Programmable fluence and pulse duration with adjustable sequences improve efficacy while optimizing patient safety.
  • Upgradeable with TWAIN IPL and other optional handpieces to expand treatment capabilities.
  • Zimmer Cryo 6 provides powerful, contact-free cold air skin cooling (air as low as approximately −30 °C at the nozzle) for significant pain reduction and epidermal protection.
  • Cold air cooling can be applied before, during and after laser pulses without interfering with the laser beam, improving comfort and reducing risk of burns.
  • Zimmer Cryo 6 uses filtered room air and requires no consumables, allowing continuous operation with minimal running costs.

Usage

  • Only trained and appropriately licensed medical or aesthetic professionals should operate the Duetto MT EVO and Zimmer Cryo 6 systems.
  • Perform a thorough medical history, skin and hair assessment and obtain informed consent prior to treatment.
  • Select the appropriate wavelength (755 nm, 1064 nm or mixed), fluence, pulse duration, spot size and emission mode based on indication, skin type and hair characteristics according to the manufacturer’s guidelines and clinical judgment.
  • Prepare the treatment area by cleansing the skin and shaving hair if performing hair removal; avoid active infections, open wounds or recent sunburn in the target area.
  • Provide certified protective eyewear to the patient and all personnel in the treatment room.
  • Position the Zimmer Cryo 6 nozzle 5–20 cm from the treatment area and select the desired airflow level; start cooling shortly before initiating laser pulses.
  • Deliver laser pulses in a systematic pattern, ensuring adequate overlap as recommended while monitoring skin response; adjust parameters if necessary for safety and comfort.
  • Maintain continuous or intermittent cold air flow from the Cryo 6 before, during and after laser application to minimize discomfort and reduce risk of epidermal injury.
  • After treatment, continue cooling for a short period if needed, then apply appropriate post-treatment care (e.g. soothing topical products) and advise strict photoprotection.
  • Schedule follow-up sessions depending on the indication (e.g. hair removal typically requires multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart).
  • Perform regular maintenance, safety checks and calibration as recommended by the manufacturer or authorized service provider; keep air filters of the Cryo 6 clean and empty the condensation collector at the recommended intervals.

Contraindications

  • Active infections, open wounds or inflammatory skin diseases in the intended treatment area.
  • Recent significant sun exposure, sunburn or use of tanning beds in the treatment area without adequate recovery time.
  • History of keloid formation or abnormal scarring, or severely impaired wound healing.
  • Known photosensitivity disorders or use of strong photosensitizing medications, unless carefully assessed and cleared by a physician.
  • Pregnancy as a general precaution, unless local regulations and clinical judgment explicitly allow treatment.
  • Uncontrolled systemic disease or conditions that the treating physician considers unsafe for laser procedures.
  • Patients unable or unwilling to comply with eye protection, treatment instructions or post-treatment sun avoidance.
  • History of hypersensitivity to extreme cold (for use of Zimmer Cryo 6), such as cold urticaria or cryoglobulinemia.

Adverse Effects

  • Transient erythema (redness), edema and mild discomfort or burning sensation in the treated area.
  • Temporary darkening or lightening of the skin (post-inflammatory hyper- or hypopigmentation), particularly if sun exposure is not adequately avoided.
  • Crusting, blistering or superficial burns if parameters or technique are inappropriate or if there is inadequate epidermal protection.
  • Rare risk of scarring or textural changes with improper use or in highly susceptible patients.
  • With Zimmer Cryo 6, excessive cooling or prolonged exposure at very close distances may rarely cause cold-related skin irritation or, in extreme cases, frostbite if used contrary to guidelines.
