1ml low dead space Luer slip syringe barrels
Description
Reduce Dead Space Luer Slip 1ml Syringes x 100 (SKU LW1) are low-cost, high-quality sterile 1ml syringe barrels featuring a displacement spike at the end of the plunger. This plunger spike significantly reduces the dead space in the syringe tip and therefore reduces wasted drug volume by around 50% compared with standard Luer slip syringes. The syringes are Luer slip (friction fit) barrels supplied without needles, designed to fit all standard Luer-fit needles but not compatible with the Total Dose low dead space needle range. They are widely used in medical, pharmacy and aesthetic practice where minimising wastage of high-cost or low-volume injectable products (e.g. dermal fillers, botulinum toxin, vaccines) is important.
Bnefits
- Low dead space design with displacement spike on the plunger reduces dead space and drug wastage by around 50% compared with standard 1ml Luer slip syringes.
- Cost-effective, high-quality syringe barrels suitable for a wide range of injectable medications, including high-cost products such as dermal fillers and toxins.
- Luer slip connection fits all standard Luer-fit needles, providing flexibility in needle choice and gauge selection.
- Fine 1ml graduations support accurate dosing, especially useful for low-volume or titrated injections.
- Sterile, single-use barrels help maintain infection control standards in clinical and aesthetic practice.
- Compatible with most standard injection techniques used in aesthetics, vaccination and general medicine (excluding the Total Dose low dead space needle range).
Indications
- Preparation and administration of injectable drugs where reduced dead space and minimised product wastage are desired (e.g. dermal fillers, botulinum toxin, vaccines, high-cost injectables).
- General medical and nursing use requiring a 1ml Luer slip syringe barrel without an attached needle.
- Use in aesthetic medicine clinics for precise, low-volume injections and to reduce waste of premium products.
- Situations where a detachable needle is required (e.g. choice of needle gauge/length, separate drawing-up and injecting needles).
Composition
- Barrel: medical-grade polypropylene (transparent, graduated 1ml cylinder).
- Plunger rod: medical-grade polypropylene with integrated displacement spike to reduce dead space.
- Plunger seal: synthetic rubber/elastomer plunger tip, latex-free according to typical product specifications for this class of syringe.
- Luer slip tip at distal end for friction-fit attachment of standard Luer needles (needle not included).
Formulation
- Sterile, single-use 1ml syringe barrel with Luer slip tip.
- Low dead space design achieved by a displacement spike on the plunger that extends into the barrel tip.
- Supplied without needles; compatible with standard Luer-fit hypodermic needles but not compatible with the Total Dose low dead space detachable needle range.
Packaging
- Box of 100 sterile 1ml low dead space Luer slip syringe barrels.
- Syringes typically individually blister-packed or supplied in sterile packs suitable for clinical and aesthetic use.
- Outer carton labelled with product name, SKU LW1, quantity (100) and appropriate regulatory and lot/batch details.
Usage
- Check the packaging is intact and within expiry date before use; do not use if the sterile pack is damaged.
- Open the sterile packaging immediately before use using aseptic technique.
- Attach a compatible standard Luer-fit needle to the Luer slip tip, ensuring a secure friction fit; do not overtighten or force.
- Draw up the required volume of medication, taking advantage of the fine graduations for precise dosing.
- Use the syringe to administer the injection according to local clinical or aesthetic protocols.
- After injection, ensure any residual drug is expelled as clinically appropriate, noting that the displacement spike reduces the residual volume in the barrel tip.
- Dispose of the used syringe and needle immediately into an approved sharps container; do not attempt to recap needles unless local policy specifically allows and safe technique is used.
- Do not reuse; these syringes are designed for single use only.
Contraindications
- Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the syringe materials (e.g. polypropylene or rubber components).
- Not compatible with the Total Dose low dead space detachable needle range; do not attempt to use together.
- Do not use if packaging is damaged, sterility is compromised, or the syringe appears cracked, warped or otherwise defective.
- Not suitable for applications requiring a fixed-needle insulin syringe or specialised intravitreal/ophthalmic syringes with specific regulatory approvals.
Adverse Effects
- As with all syringe use, risk of needlestick injury to staff if sharps safety procedures are not followed.
- Potential for dosing errors if graduations are misread or incorrect technique is used.
- Mechanical failure (e.g. plunger sticking or barrel cracking) is rare but may occur if used outside recommended conditions or if damaged prior to use.
Storage Conditions
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Keep in original packaging until use to maintain sterility and protect from dust and contaminants.
- Avoid crushing or bending the cartons to prevent mechanical damage to the barrels or plunger spikes.
- Store away from chemicals or vapours that could degrade plastics or rubber components.
