Usage

  • General: Always inspect the mask for damage or leaks before each use. Do not use if the pouch is punctured or leaking.
  • Cold therapy:
  • 1. Place the eye mask flat in the freezer for at least 2 hours (4 hours is recommended for optimal cold effect).
  • 2. Remove from the freezer and ensure the microbeads are evenly distributed within the Repearl thermal pocket.
  • 3. Check the temperature of the mask on the inside of the wrist or over a cloth before applying to the eye area.
  • 4. Position the mask over the eyes and secure with the Velcro strap if desired. Apply for up to 20 minutes.
  • 5. Wait at least 20 minutes before any new application. If needed, applications of up to 20 minutes may be repeated with appropriate intervals.
  • Heat therapy (microwave):
  • 1. Place the eye mask flat in the microwave, ensuring it does not touch the walls of the microwave and that it can rotate freely if applicable.
  • 2. Heat for the time and at the power indicated in the product leaflet (follow manufacturer’s recommended times according to microwave power).
  • 3. After heating, carefully remove the mask and mix/knead the microbeads to distribute heat evenly.
  • 4. Always test the temperature on the inside of the wrist or over a cloth before applying to the eye area.
  • 5. If the mask is not warm enough, reheat in 5-second increments, checking the temperature each time until the desired temperature is reached. Do not overheat.
  • 6. Apply to the eye area for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time, using the Velcro strap for support if desired.
  • Heat therapy (hot water):
  • 1. As an alternative to microwave heating, the mask can be heated in hot water following the detailed instructions in the leaflet.
  • 2. Typically, the mask is placed in hot (not boiling) water for the recommended time, then removed, dried and temperature-checked before use.
  • Safety precautions:
  • 1. The application should not exceed 20 minutes per session.
  • 2. Wait at least 20 minutes between applications. Do not use continuously for prolonged periods.
  • 3. Always check the temperature of the mask before applying it to the skin to avoid burns or cold injury.
  • 4. Prolonged or excessive application may cause injury, including burns or cold damage.
  • 5. Do not apply directly to broken or irritated skin. If discomfort, excessive redness, numbness or pain occurs, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional.
  • 6. Keep out of reach of children and do not allow unattended use by individuals who cannot remove the mask on their own.

Contraindications

  • Do not use on broken, bleeding, infected or severely irritated skin around the eyes.
  • Not recommended for individuals with known hypersensitivity to cold or heat therapy, such as certain circulatory disorders, cryoglobulinemia or Raynaud’s phenomenon, unless advised by a healthcare professional.
  • Use with caution in patients with reduced skin sensation (e.g. neuropathy) or impaired circulation who may not feel excessive heat or cold.
  • Not intended as a substitute for medical treatment in serious eye conditions or following major surgery; always follow the surgeon’s or doctor’s specific post-procedure instructions.
  • Do not use on infants or very young children without medical advice and close supervision.

Adverse Effects

  • Possible temporary redness or mild irritation of the skin if the mask is too hot, too cold or applied for longer than recommended.
  • Risk of cold injury (e.g. frostbite-like damage) if the mask is over-cooled and applied directly to the skin for excessive periods.
  • Risk of heat-related burns if the mask is overheated or not properly temperature-checked before use.
  • In rare cases, contact irritation or allergy to any component of the gel or pouch material.
  • If any pain, blistering, persistent redness or other unexpected skin reaction occurs, discontinue use and seek medical advice.

Storage Conditions

  • Store the unused mask in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
  • For cold applications, the mask may be stored in the freezer as recommended by the manufacturer; ensure it lies flat and is protected from sharp objects that could puncture the pouch.
  • Do not expose the mask to open flame, high heat sources or boiling water.
  • Avoid puncturing or cutting the mask; do not use if the pouch is leaking or damaged.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
