Usage
- General precautions:
- Always inspect the mask for damage or leakage before each use. Do not use if the pouch is punctured or leaking.
- Do not apply directly to broken, irritated or highly sensitive skin. If discomfort or excessive redness occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
- Cold therapy:
- Place the face mask flat in the freezer for at least 2 hours before use (4 hours is recommended for optimal cooling effect).
- Remove from the freezer and ensure the microbeads are evenly distributed within the REPEARL thermal pocket by gently massaging the mask.
- Check the temperature on the inside of the wrist or over a cloth before applying to the face.
- Position the mask over the face, adjust for comfort and secure with the retaining strap if desired. Do not cover the nose or mouth in a way that impedes breathing.
- Apply for up to 20 minutes at a time.
- Wait at least 20 minutes before any new application. If necessary, repeat applications of up to 20 minutes with appropriate intervals.
- Heat therapy (microwave):
- Place the mask flat in the microwave, ensuring it does not touch the microwave walls and can rotate freely if applicable.
- Heat for the time and at the power indicated in the manufacturer’s instructions (follow the recommended heating times for your microwave power).
- After heating, carefully remove the mask and mix/knead the microbeads to distribute heat evenly.
- Test the temperature on the inside of the wrist or over a cloth before applying to the face.
- If additional warmth is desired, reheat in 5-second increments, checking the temperature each time until the desired temperature is reached. Do not overheat.
- Apply to the face for a maximum of 20 minutes per session, ensuring the retaining strap is comfortable and does not apply excessive pressure.
- Heat therapy (hot water):
- As an alternative to microwave heating, the mask may be heated in hot (not boiling) water according to the detailed instructions in the leaflet.
- Typically, place the mask in hot water for the recommended time, remove, dry and check the temperature before application.
- Safety guidelines:
- Application should not exceed 20 minutes at a time regardless of hot or cold use.
- Wait at least 20 minutes between applications to prevent skin or tissue damage.
- Always check the temperature of the mask before applying to the skin to avoid burns or cold injuries.
- Prolonged or excessive application may cause injury, including burns or cold damage.
- Do not allow unsupervised use by children or individuals who cannot remove the mask by themselves.
Contraindications
- Do not use on broken, bleeding, infected or severely irritated facial skin.
- Not recommended for individuals with known intolerance or hypersensitivity to cold or heat therapy (e.g. certain circulatory disorders, cryoglobulinemia, Raynaud’s phenomenon) unless specifically advised by a healthcare professional.
- Use with caution in patients with reduced skin sensation (such as neuropathy) or impaired circulation who may not adequately sense excessive heat or cold.
- Not intended to replace professional medical treatment after major surgery or serious trauma; always follow specific instructions provided by the treating surgeon or physician.
- Avoid use on infants and very young children without medical advice and close supervision.
Adverse Effects
- Temporary redness or mild irritation of facial skin, particularly if the mask is too hot, too cold or applied for longer than recommended.
- Risk of cold injury (frostbite-like damage) if the mask is over-cooled and applied directly to the skin for excessive periods.
- Risk of heat-related burns if the mask is overheated or not properly temperature-checked before use.
- In rare cases, contact irritation or allergic reactions to any component of the gel or outer pouch materials.
- If pain, blistering, persistent redness, numbness or other unexpected reactions occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical advice.
Storage Conditions
- Store unused mask in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of excessive heat.
- For cold therapy, the mask may be stored in the freezer as recommended, ideally lying flat and protected from sharp objects that could puncture the pouch.
- Do not expose the mask to open flame or very high temperatures and do not boil.
- Avoid puncturing, cutting or crushing the mask; discard if the pouch is damaged or leaking.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets when not in use.
Duration
Intended for intermittent sessions of up to 20 minutes per application with at least 20 minutes between applications. Overall length of use (days or weeks) depends on cosmetic or post-procedure needs and practitioner or user guidance.
Onset
Cooling or warming comfort is typically felt within minutes once the mask has reached the desired temperature and is applied to the face.
