Venous blood collection tube \u2014 serum gel with clot activator

Description

S-Monovette® Serum Gel CAT 7.5 ml is a sterile venous blood collection tube (92 x 15 mm) containing a clotting activator and a separating gel. The tube uses a membrane screw cap (brown/EU-ISO colour coding) and is supplied with a paper label. It is intended for serum collection and subsequent centrifugation for clinical chemistry testing. Sterilised by electron irradiation and supplied batched in packs of 50.

Bnefits

  • Clot activator with separating gel forms a stable serum/plasma barrier after centrifugation for improved sample quality
  • Membrane screw cap provides a liquid-tight closure and compatibility with S-Monovette handling systems
  • Sterile, electron-irradiated and IATA/ADR compliant for transport
  • CE certified (manufacturer self-declaration) for intended IVD use

Indications

  • Collection of venous blood for serum preparation and subsequent laboratory analysis (clinical chemistry, serology) following clotting and centrifugation

Composition

  • Tube material: Polypropylene (PP)
  • Cap/closure: High-density polyethylene (HD-PE) screw cap with membrane
  • Membrane material: Rubber (membrane screw cap)
  • Additives: Clotting activator (silicate) and separating gel (proprietary gel formulation)
  • Label: Paper label with brown print (EU/ISO colour coding for serum tubes)

Formulation

  • Sterile, single-use blood collection tube with clot activator and separating gel; membrane screw cap closure; fill mark / graduation indicated

Packaging

  • Pack size: 50 tubes per inner box (sterile, batched)
  • Manufacturer order number: 01.1602.001 (refer to carton labelling for lot, expiry and IFU)

Usage

  • Collect venous blood into the tube using appropriate S-Monovette collection technique or compatible systems
  • Allow blood to clot (typical clotting time ~20–30 minutes with clot activator), then centrifuge at recommended conditions (2500 x g, 20°C for 10 minutes) to obtain separated serum
  • Follow local laboratory procedures and the Sarstedt Instructions for Use (IFU) for handling, storage, transport and disposal

Contraindications

  • Not to be used if sterility of package is compromised or packaging is damaged
  • Not intended for collection of samples requiring anticoagulated whole blood (use appropriate anticoagulant tube instead)

Adverse Effects

  • Device-related risks are typical of venepuncture and include haemolysis if improper technique is used; follow standard venepuncture and sample handling precautions
  • Not reported as causing adverse systemic effects — adverse events are associated with blood collection procedure rather than the tube itself

Storage Conditions

  • Store in original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Refer to product carton and IFU for storage temperature range and shelf-life information

Duration

Not applicable (single-use collection device used per venepuncture/sample)

Onset

Clotting occurs within approximately 20\u201330 minutes with clot activator; serum separation achieved after recommended centrifugation (e.g., 2500 x g for 10 minutes)
