Wall-mounted HD-LED minor surgical light
Description
The Astralite eLite Minor Surgical Wall Mounted Light is a high-performance HD-LED minor surgical and examination lamp from Brandon Medical, designed for use in operating rooms, treatment rooms and clinics. Using patented solid-state focusing technology, it combines LEDs with different beam shapes superimposed to create an extremely effective and reliable focus system with a wide adjustment range. The eLite 10 wall-mounted model (ALE10WJ) delivers high-intensity cold light up to 100,000 lux at 1 m, with variable light intensity (8 steps), adjustable colour temperature from 3,500 K to 5,000 K, and exceptional colour rendering (Ra and R9 > 95) for accurate tissue differentiation. A large 250 mm illuminated field and 180 mm beam at 1 m provide excellent coverage, while the HD-LED technology produces natural white light with minimal heat. The lamp head incorporates antimicrobial additives (e.g., Polygiene-style/biomaster technology) and smooth, sealed surfaces to help reduce infection risk, making it ideal for minor procedures, suturing, A&E, dermatology, gynaecology and general examination.
Bnefits
- High-intensity cold light delivering up to approximately 100,000 lux at 1 metre for demanding minor surgical procedures
- HD-LED technology with near-perfect colour rendition (Ra > 95, R9 > 95) for accurate tissue and blood colour discrimination
- Patented solid state focusing using LEDs with different beam shapes superimposed for an effective, reliable focusing system and wide adjustment range
- "Auto On" feature turns the light on as soon as any control is touched, simplifying operation during procedures
- Adjustable colour temperature (approximately 3,500–5,000 K) and 8-step intensity control to optimise contrast for different tissues and procedures
- Large 250 mm illuminated field and 180 mm beam size at 1 m for excellent coverage and easy targeting of the wound area
- Excellent shadow control by spreading LEDs across the entire light head, helping to under-light obstructions such as the surgeon’s hands
- Long LED life (>50,000 hours) with no bulb changes required, providing low lifetime cost and high reliability
- Low power consumption (typically <32 VA) making the system economical and environmentally friendly
- Antimicrobial lamp head surfaces incorporating additives to inhibit bacteria, viruses and yeasts, with smooth, sealed design for easy cleaning and infection control
- Wide movement range with multiple rotational axes, allowing the light head to be positioned all around the couch and from almost any angle

Usage
- Installation must be carried out by suitably qualified electrical / medical equipment installers, following Brandon Medical’s installation manual and local electrical regulations.
- Securely mount the wall bracket to a suitable load-bearing wall structure and attach the articulated arm and lamp head as directed by the manufacturer.
- Connect the unit to a 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz mains supply via an appropriate fused spur or outlet, ensuring correct earthing and isolation in accordance with EN 60601-1 and local standards.
- After installation, verify all safety functions, movement ranges and light output according to the commissioning procedure before clinical use.
- During use, position the arm and lamp head over the operative or examination field using the ergonomic handle, taking advantage of the 5 rotations to achieve the desired angle and distance.
- Switch on or adjust the light by touching the wipe-clean control panel; use the Auto On feature, intensity control (8 steps) and colour temperature adjustment (3,500–5,000 K) to suit the procedure and tissue contrast required.
- Focus and field size can be adjusted by twisting or manipulating the handle (solid-state focusing) to increase or decrease the illuminated area and intensity at the surgical site.
- After procedures, wipe the lamp head, handle and arm surfaces with approved disinfectant wipes or cleaning solutions compatible with the materials, following infection control protocols and manufacturer guidance.
- Do not cover ventilation areas or modify the lamp head; ensure that the light is turned off when not in use and that routine visual checks and periodic servicing are carried out as per Brandon Medical’s recommendations.
- Only trained clinical staff should operate the light; any maintenance beyond cleaning and basic checks must be performed by authorised service personnel.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for use in environments with flammable anaesthetic mixtures or explosive atmospheres unless specifically certified for such use.
- Should not be used if the lamp head, arm, wall bracket or electrical connections are visibly damaged, loose or malfunctioning.
