Electric multifunction medical recovery and treatment chair

Description

The Capre RC Recovery Chair is a luxurious, multifunction electric medical chair from Lojer, designed together with healthcare professionals to meet modern requirements for post-day-surgery recovery, dialysis and cytostatic treatments. It replaces a traditional hospital bed in many recovery scenarios, improving patient vitality and comfort while optimising space. The chair features pleasantly contoured, anatomically shaped upholstery, an intelligent 24 V electric control system and a modular structure with split, motorised leg sections and length-adjustable head and leg sections. Four pre-programmed positions (including sitting, beach chair, flat/lying and Trendelenburg) plus one user-programmable memory position allow fast and precise positioning. Additional comforts such as a tablet stand with reading light, USB charger and versatile multi-function armrests make the Capre RC suitable for demanding healthcare environments.

Bnefits

  • Multifunction design for recovery after outpatient surgery, dialysis and cytostatic treatments, reducing the need for separate beds and chairs.
  • Electric 24 V low-voltage system with motorised height, back, seat and split leg section adjustment allows ergonomic, low-effort patient positioning.
  • Trendelenburg and resuscitation / full lying positions can be achieved at the press of a button, supporting rapid response in emergencies.
  • Intelligent control system provides multiple pre-programmed treatment positions (sitting, beach chair, lying, Trendelenburg) and one user memory position for frequently used settings.
  • Split leg section with independent motorised adjustment and length adjustment improves comfort and positioning options for different procedures and patient sizes.
  • Luxurious, anatomically contoured upholstery and modern design improve patient comfort during long treatments and enhance the image of the facility.
  • Versatile arm supports with height and angle adjustment and 0–180° rotation remain horizontal relative to the patient surface, ideal for infusions and blood access.
  • Central locking design castors (Ø 75 mm) and relatively compact footprint increase mobility and safety within treatment areas.
  • Integrated USB charger (approx. 4 W) and provision for tablet stand and reading light enhance patient engagement and comfort during prolonged sessions.
  • CE-marked, MDR-compliant medical device manufactured in Finland under ISO-certified quality systems with a Safe Working Load of 160 kg.

  • Standard package typically includes: Capre RC chair with selected upholstery colour, split leg section, central-locking castors, armrests, hand control with flexible arm or spiral cable, main power cable and user / technical manual.
  • Optional accessories such as tablet PC stand with flexible neck, LED reading light, coffee tray, IV pole, additional arm supports, battery back-up and various foot control configurations may be ordered separately and are not always included in the base package.

Usage

  • Place the chair on a level surface and engage the central locking castors before seating a patient or initiating movement of the chair sections.
  • Connect the chair to an appropriate mains power supply as specified in the user manual, ensuring correct voltage and proper earthing.
  • Use the hand control to adjust height, backrest angle, seat angle and split leg sections to the desired position before treatment, selecting one of the pre-programmed positions (e.g. sitting, beach chair, lying, Trendelenburg) or a stored user memory position as required.
  • Adjust the mechanical head section (angle and length) to provide comfortable support for the patient’s head and neck, especially during prolonged treatments.
  • For dialysis or cytostatic treatments, adjust the multi-function arm supports for optimal venous access by setting armrest height, angle and rotation while ensuring the armrests remain horizontal relative to the patient surface.
  • When necessary, move the patient quickly into Trendelenburg, lying or resuscitation position using the designated function buttons, with staff supporting the patient and monitoring their condition during the movement.
  • After treatment, return the chair to a safe exit position, lower the height as appropriate, release the central locking castors if the chair needs to be moved and assist the patient to stand safely.
  • Clean all upholstery, armrests, hand control and frequently touched parts with approved hospital-grade cleaning and disinfecting agents according to local infection control policies, ensuring that cleaning products are compatible with the upholstery material.
  • Carry out regular functional checks of electrical adjustments, castor locking, armrest mechanisms and emergency positioning functions; report any malfunction and arrange maintenance according to Lojer’s service instructions and local biomedical engineering procedures.

Contraindications

  • Not suitable for patients whose weight exceeds the Safe Working Load (SWL) of 160 kg.
  • Use with caution or consider alternative equipment for patients requiring special positioning that cannot be achieved safely with the chair (e.g. specific spinal or orthopaedic conditions).
  • Do not use the chair if any electrical faults, damaged power cables, non-functioning motors or defective castor locks are observed; the unit must be serviced before further use.
  • Not intended for use in areas with explosion risk or where flammable anaesthetic gases or mixtures are present.

Adverse Effects

  • Improper use (e.g. unlocked castors, incorrect transfer technique) may increase the risk of patient falls or instability during entry, exit or repositioning.
  • Prolonged positioning without appropriate pressure care may lead to discomfort or pressure-related issues, particularly in high-risk patients; regular repositioning and monitoring are recommended.
  • Rapid position changes (e.g. Trendelenburg) may cause transient dizziness or circulatory symptoms in some patients; clinical judgement should be used when selecting positions.

Storage Conditions

  • Use and store the chair in an indoor clinical environment within the temperature and humidity ranges specified in the manufacturer’s documentation.
  • Keep the power cable routed safely to avoid trip hazards and mechanical damage; disconnect from mains if the chair will not be used for an extended period.
  • Clean upholstery and painted surfaces regularly with compatible cleaning and disinfecting agents; avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that may damage the upholstery or coatings.
  • Ensure castors, joints and moving parts are kept free from debris and perform periodic inspection and maintenance according to Lojer’s recommendations.
