LED head torch / headlamp

Description

The Coast FL85 Dual Colour Focusing Head Torch is a powerful, front-loaded LED headlamp delivering up to 615 lumens of output with Coast’s Pure Beam Focusing technology. A primary white LED provides an ultra-wide flood beam that can be quickly focused by twisting the bezel into a long-range spot beam with a transition halo, while a secondary fixed red LED helps preserve night vision. Powered by three AAA batteries, the FL85 offers a beam distance of up to 600 ft (183 m) and runtimes of approximately 2 hours 15 minutes on high and 13 hours on low. It is built with an IPX4 weatherproof rating, a reflective safety head strap, and a robust, impact-resistant housing. The virtually unbreakable LED and ANSI/FL1-tested performance are backed by Coast’s lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

  • Adjustable reflective head strap (pre-fitted or included in the pack)
  • 3 × AAA batteries (in many retail configurations)
  • Printed user instructions and warranty information
  • Retail blister pack or box suitable for store display and shipping protection

Usage

  • Install the 3 × AAA batteries according to the polarity markings in the battery compartment, ensuring secure closure of the housing.
  • Place the headlamp on the head or over a helmet and adjust the elastic strap for a secure but comfortable fit; ensure the reflective portions are oriented outward for visibility.
  • Use the primary (white light) button to turn the headlamp on and cycle through the available white modes (typically high and low).
  • Twist the front bezel of the light to switch between an ultra-wide flood beam and a focused spot beam with transition halo, adjusting to the required task.
  • Use the secondary button to activate the fixed red LED mode when night-vision preservation is desired; press again to switch off the red LED.
  • Avoid shining the beam directly into eyes at close range to prevent discomfort or temporary visual disturbance.
  • After use, switch the headlamp off to conserve battery power; if storing for prolonged periods, remove the batteries to reduce the risk of leakage.
  • Clean the housing and strap with a damp cloth if soiled and allow to dry completely before storage.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the LED module or modify the headlamp; refer to Coast warranty guidelines for service or replacement.

Contraindications

  • Not certified as intrinsically safe; do not use in explosive atmospheres or where ATEX-rated equipment is required.
  • Avoid direct eye exposure at close range to prevent glare or temporary visual disturbance.
  • Users sensitive to bright light should use lower output settings or red mode where appropriate.
  • Do not use if the headlamp or battery compartment is visibly damaged, cracked or shows signs of battery leakage.

Adverse Effects

  • Temporary glare or visual discomfort if the beam is directed into the eyes at close range.
  • Potential skin irritation from the strap in users with sensitivities to elastic or synthetic materials.
  • Risk of battery leakage or overheating if incorrect batteries are used, installed incorrectly, or left for prolonged periods in extreme temperatures.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
  • Switch the headlamp off before storage and remove batteries if it will not be used for an extended period.
  • Avoid storing in damp or corrosive environments that may degrade the housing, contacts or strap.
  • Keep out of reach of young children when not in supervised use.
