Handheld Torch / Flashlight

Description

The Coast Polysteel 600 Twist-Focusing LED Torch is a heavy-duty handheld flashlight built for harsh work and outdoor environments. Featuring a stainless steel core encased in a tough poly (fibreglass-reinforced polymer) outer shell, it is engineered to be waterproof, drop proof and crush proof. Coast’s Pure Beam Focusing System with twist focus allows smooth adjustment from an ultra-wide flood beam to a long-range Bulls-Eye spot, while delivering up to 710 lumens on high with a beam distance of approximately 247 m. Powered by 4 × AA alkaline batteries, it offers three light modes (high, medium and low) with runtimes up to around 40 hours on low. The torch is impact resistant, weatherproof, and uses a virtually unbreakable LED, tested and rated to ANSI/FL1 standards and backed by Coast’s warranty, making it suitable for demanding industrial, professional, emergency and outdoor use.

Bnefits

  • Extremely rugged design with stainless steel core and poly outer shell for superior impact, drop and crush resistance.
  • Waterproof and weather-resistant construction suitable for use in heavy rain and harsh environments.
  • Pure Beam Focusing System with twist focus enables seamless transition between wide flood and long-range spot beams.
  • High maximum output of approximately 710 lumens with a long beam distance of around 247 m for distance illumination.
  • Three light modes (high, medium and low) to balance brightness and runtime for different tasks.
  • Long runtime up to approximately 40 hours on low using common 4 × AA alkaline batteries.
  • Uses widely available AA batteries, reducing running costs and simplifying replacement in the field.
  • Virtually unbreakable LED with ANSI/FL1-tested performance for reliable, consistent output.
  • Ergonomic cylindrical body with textured poly outer for secure grip, even when wet or gloved.
  • Backed by Coast’s multi-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Indications

  • General-purpose and heavy-duty handheld lighting in industrial, construction and maintenance environments.
  • Use by emergency services, rescue teams, security personnel and facility managers who need robust, weatherproof lighting.
  • Outdoor activities including camping, hiking, hunting and boating where reliable, waterproof illumination is required.
  • Work in wet, dirty or physically demanding conditions where tools are frequently dropped or subject to impact.
  • Vehicle, workshop or site torch for routine inspections and emergency situations.

Composition

  • Fibreglass-reinforced polymer (poly) outer housing for impact, crush and weather resistance.
  • Stainless steel internal core structure for added strength and rigidity.
  • High-power white LED with Coast Pure Beam Focusing Optic.
  • Twist-focus front bezel for flood-to-spot beam adjustment.
  • Tail-cap or side-mounted electronic switch assembly for mode selection (high/medium/low).
  • Internal battery cartridge designed to hold 4 × AA alkaline cells.
  • O-ring seals and internal gaskets providing waterproofing and environmental protection.

Formulation

  • Battery-powered, non-sterile, non-medicated LED flashlight with Pure Beam Focusing optics, twist-focus bezel and three-mode electronic driver circuit, powered by 4 × AA alkaline cells.

Packaging

  • Coast Polysteel 600 Twist-Focusing LED Torch.
  • Battery cartridge for 4 × AA cells.
  • 4 × AA alkaline batteries (typically included in retail kits).
  • Printed instruction leaflet or user manual with safety and operating information.
  • Retail blister or box packaging with product specifications.

Usage

  • Turn the tail cap counter-clockwise to remove it and access the battery cartridge.
  • Remove the cartridge and insert four AA batteries, ensuring polarity matches the markings on the cartridge.
  • Reinsert the battery cartridge into the body in the orientation indicated by the arrow, then replace the tail cap and tighten fully to maintain waterproofing.
  • Press the switch to turn the light on and cycle through modes (high, medium, low) according to the quick-cycle sequence described in the user manual.
  • To adjust the beam, twist the front bezel clockwise or counter-clockwise to move between wide flood and focused spot settings.
  • Use the flood beam for close-up or area lighting, and the focused Bulls-Eye spot for long-distance illumination.
  • Avoid shining the beam directly into eyes at close range to prevent glare or visual discomfort.
  • After use in wet or dirty conditions, rinse lightly or wipe the outer body with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly; do not open battery compartments while wet.
  • Replace all four AA batteries together when brightness decreases significantly or runtimes become short.
  • For transport or extended non-use, switch the light off and, if storing for a long period, remove the batteries to reduce the risk of leakage.

Contraindications

  • Not suitable as a replacement for approved medical examination or surgical lighting in clinical settings.
  • Not certified as intrinsically safe; do not use in explosive atmospheres or areas requiring ATEX or similar hazardous-location certification.
  • Avoid direct, prolonged exposure of the beam to human or animal eyes at close distances.
  • Not designed as a toy and should not be used unsupervised by young children.

Adverse Effects

  • Temporary glare, after-images or visual discomfort if the beam is directed into the eyes.
  • Potential eye strain or headache from prolonged use in close proximity to reflective surfaces.
  • Heat build-up around the bezel area during extended high-output operation may cause mild local warming or discomfort on contact.
  • Battery leakage from damaged, old or mixed batteries may cause skin or eye irritation and can damage the device.

Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat sources.
  • Ensure the torch is switched off before storage and keep out of reach of young children.
  • For long-term storage, remove the AA batteries from the torch or battery cartridge to minimise the risk of leakage and corrosion.
  • Do not store the torch where it may be crushed, heavily impacted or submerged in liquids.
  • Keep loose batteries in appropriate packaging or containers, away from metal objects that could cause short circuits.

Duration

Not a medical treatment device. Typical continuous runtime is approximately 2 hours 15 minutes on high and up to around 40 hours on low with fresh alkaline AA batteries, depending on conditions.

Onset

Immediate illumination upon activation of the power switch.
