Ceiling mounting kit for examination/procedure lights
Description
The Daray Ceiling Mounting with Down-Tube and Variable Intensity Controller is a dedicated ceiling mounting kit designed for suspended ceilings and compatible with the Daray Illumin8 lighting range. Supplied as an accessory for Daray X4-series Illumin8 examination and procedure lights, it provides a rigid ceiling down-tube and integrated variable intensity controller to support and control compatible light heads. The kit is specifically intended for use with Illumin8 models X400HA, X400HAMINI and SL200, allowing these lights to be installed as fixed ceiling-mounted luminaires where space or workflow makes ceiling suspension preferable to wall or mobile mounting. The mounting system transfers the weight of the light and suspension arm safely to the ceiling structure and incorporates a controller module for smooth on/off and variable intensity operation in line with the Illumin8 range’s specification.
Bnefits
- Provides a complete ceiling-mount solution for Daray Illumin8 examination lights in rooms with suspended ceilings
- Includes a structural down-tube to bring the mounting point below a suspended ceiling grid for optimal light positioning
- Incorporates a variable intensity controller compatible with Daray Illumin8 (X4 series) lights for smooth dimming and on/off control
- Designed specifically for use with Daray Illumin8 models X400HA, X400HAMINI and SL200 for assured mechanical and electrical compatibility
- Enables ceiling-mounted installation to free floor and wall space, improving room ergonomics and equipment layout
- Supports the flexible, spring-balanced arm systems used on Daray examination lights for precise, effortless positioning
- Supplied as an OEM accessory from Daray, maintaining aesthetic and functional consistency with the Illumin8 lighting range
Indications
- Ceiling mounting of Daray Illumin8 examination/procedure lights in medical, dental or veterinary examination rooms
- Use in clinical environments with suspended ceilings where a down-tube is required to achieve the correct mounting height for the light head and arm
- Installation in general practice surgeries, outpatient rooms, treatment and minor procedure rooms where a fixed overhead light is preferred
- Upgrading or configuring Daray X400HA, X400HAMINI or SL200 lights from wall or mobile mounting to ceiling mounting
Composition
- Ceiling mounting plate or chassis designed for secure fixing to the building’s structural ceiling (above suspended ceiling where present)
- Rigid down-tube (ceiling drop tube) that passes through or below the suspended ceiling to provide a mounting point at the correct height
- Mechanical interface compatible with Daray Illumin8 suspension arms and X4-series light heads (e.g. X400HA, X400HAMINI, SL200)
- Variable intensity controller unit for electrical connection between mains supply and compatible Daray light, providing on/off and dimming control
- Associated fixings and cable routing provision (e.g. internal cable path within down-tube) as supplied by Daray for this kit
Formulation
- Non-sterile, reusable mechanical and electrical accessory kit for Daray medical lighting systems
- Metallic construction (typically powder-coated steel or aluminium for mounting plate and down-tube) designed for ceiling installation and frequent positional adjustments via the attached light arm
- Controller electronics designed to operate the variable intensity LED examination/procedure lights of the Daray Illumin8 (X4) range within their specified voltage and power parameters
Packaging
- Supplied as a Daray ceiling mounting kit including: ceiling mounting hardware, structural down-tube and variable intensity controller module
- Intended for use specifically with Daray Illumin8 models X400HA, X400HAMINI and SL200 as stated by distributors
- Packed as a single kit per carton; light head and suspension arm are supplied separately as part of the relevant Daray Illumin8 light product
- Outer packaging labelled with Daray branding and product details (Ceiling Mounting, Down-Tube and Variable Intensity Controller for Illumin8 range)
Usage
- Installation must be carried out by suitably qualified personnel (e.g. medical equipment installers or electricians) in accordance with Daray’s installation instructions and local electrical and building regulations.
- Confirm that the ceiling structure above the suspended ceiling (if present) is capable of supporting the combined weight of the ceiling mount, down-tube, suspension arm and light head, including dynamic loads during repositioning.
- Fix the ceiling mounting plate or chassis securely to the structural ceiling using appropriate anchors and fixings specified in the installation documentation.
- Feed the electrical supply cable and light cabling through the mounting plate and down-tube, maintaining required clearances and strain relief as per Daray’s guidance.
- Install the down-tube so that it passes through or terminates just below the suspended ceiling grid at the correct height for the planned working position of the light head.
- Attach the Daray suspension arm and Illumin8 light (X400HA, X400HAMINI or SL200) to the end of the down-tube, following the specific light’s installation manual for mechanical and electrical connection.
- Mount and connect the variable intensity controller module according to Daray’s wiring diagrams, ensuring correct mains connection, earthing and low-voltage output to the light.
- Verify that the light can be moved smoothly through its full range of motion without strain on cables or fixings, and that the suspended ceiling panels do not impede movement.
- Test the system by switching the light on and adjusting the intensity through the controller, confirming smooth dimming and stable operation across the full range.
- Label isolation points and document the installation in accordance with local facilities management and electrical safety procedures.
- Perform routine inspections and servicing as recommended by Daray, including checks of mechanical fixings, cable condition and controller functionality.
Contraindications
- Not suitable for use with lighting products other than the specified Daray Illumin8 models (X400HA, X400HAMINI, SL200) unless explicitly confirmed by Daray.
- Should not be installed on ceilings or structures that cannot safely support the mechanical load of the mount, arm and light.
- Not intended for environments outside the usual operating conditions for Daray medical lights (e.g. high-humidity corrosive environments) without appropriate risk assessment.
- Must not be installed or serviced by unqualified personnel; incorrect installation may pose electrical and mechanical safety risks.
Adverse Effects
- No direct patient adverse effects are expected, as this is a mounting accessory. However, improper installation or use may increase the risk of mechanical failure or electrical hazards.
- Inadequate structural support or incorrect fixing may lead to loosening or detachment of the mount, posing a risk of the light falling and causing injury or equipment damage.
- Incorrect electrical wiring of the variable intensity controller may result in malfunction, flickering, or damage to the light, and could present an electrical safety risk.
- Failure to maintain or periodically inspect the installation could result in progressive loosening of fixings or wear on moving parts, increasing risk over time.
Storage Conditions
- Before installation, store the kit in its original packaging in a clean, dry indoor environment, protected from moisture, dust and mechanical damage.
- Avoid exposure to corrosive atmospheres or extremes of temperature that could damage coatings, electronics or cable insulation.
- Once installed, maintain the surrounding environment within the operating conditions specified for the associated Daray Illumin8 light (e.g. typical indoor clinical ambient temperature and humidity).
- If components are removed for service or refurbishment, store them safely to prevent bending of the down-tube, damage to mounting plates or impact to the controller unit.
Duration
Not applicable \u2013 this is a fixed installation accessory for medical lighting rather than a time-limited clinical treatment. It is intended for long-term use over the service life of the associated Daray Illumin8 light, subject to routine inspection and maintenance.
Onset
Not applicable in a clinical sense. Once installed and commissioned, the ceiling mounting kit provides immediate mechanical support and variable intensity control functionality for compatible Daray Illumin8 lights.
