Minor surgical LED examination light

Description

The DARAY SL180LED Minor Surgical Light (wall mounted) is a high-performance NviroLED medical luminaire designed for minor surgical procedures and advanced examinations. It delivers a strong, evenly distributed LED light beam with 50,000 lux at 0.75 m and 35,000 lux at 1 m, a daylight-like 4,200 K colour temperature and excellent colour rendering, ensuring natural skin tones and reduced eye strain. The fully enclosed BioProtect antimicrobial light-head supports infection control, while variable intensity and smooth spring-balanced positioning make it suitable for day surgery, gynaecology, A&E, podiatry, dermatology and GP treatment rooms.

Bnefits

  • Lowest total cost of ownership minor surgical light, designed for long-term clinical use
  • Costs up to 75% less to run than equivalent halogen lights
  • Approx. 50,000 hours LED life, reducing bulb replacement and downtime
  • Strong, even LED beam with 50,000 lux at 0.75 m and 35,000 lux at 1 m for clear visibility
  • 4,200 K daylight-style colour temperature with excellent colour rendering (Ra ≈ 96) for natural tissue appearance
  • Emits no infrared radiation, so there is no increase in temperature in the light field
  • Variable intensity from 0% to 100% for precise control of illumination
  • Smooth, fully enclosed light-head with BioProtect antimicrobial coating to aid infection control
  • Multiple LEDs and optical design minimise shadows and reduce eye strain
  • Various mounting options across the SL180LED range; this configuration provides a space-saving wall-mounted solution
  • Environmentally friendly design with low power consumption, no halogen, mercury, cadmium, lead or CFCs, and fully recyclable construction at end of life

Indications

  • Minor surgical procedures performed under local anaesthetic
  • Day surgery procedures requiring focused shadow-reduced lighting
  • Gynaecological examinations and minor interventions
  • Dental implant and minor maxillofacial procedures
  • Accident and Emergency (A&E) assessment and treatment areas
  • Podiatry examinations and minor procedures
  • Dermatology examinations and minor dermatological procedures
  • Use in GP treatment rooms and outpatient procedure rooms
  • Mortuary examination lighting
  • General minor procedure and examination lighting in clinics and hospitals

Composition

  • LED light source: 24 V LED module with 12 LEDs
  • Illumination: 50,000 lux at 0.75 m (normal working distance); 35,000 lux at 1 m
  • Colour temperature: 4,200 K ± 5% (daylight style)
  • Colour rendering index (Ra): approximately 96
  • LED life: up to 50,000 hours from the LED light engine
  • Power requirement: approximately 30 W (230 V, 50 Hz supply)
  • Optical system: high-definition NviroLED technology providing an intense clear white light beam
  • Light-head housing: smooth, fully enclosed head with BioProtect antimicrobial coating
  • Mounting structure: wall-mounted spring-balanced arm system (SL180LEDW configuration)
  • Environmental design: no halogen, mercury, cadmium, lead or CFCs; fully recyclable construction at end of life

Formulation

  • Wall-mounted minor surgical LED luminaire using NviroLED technology
  • Multiple high-intensity white LEDs integrated into a fully enclosed light-head
  • Spring-balanced arm system for precise, stable positioning over the working field
  • Integrated variable-intensity electronic control (0–100%) on the light-head
  • BioProtect antimicrobial coating applied to painted surfaces and light-head for infection control

Packaging

  • 1 x DARAY SL180LEDW wall-mounted minor surgical light (light-head and arm assembly)
  • 1 x wall-mounting bracket/fixings kit (as supplied by manufacturer or distributor)
  • Integrated variable-intensity controls on light-head
  • Manufacturer documentation including installation, operation and maintenance instructions

Usage

  • Install the SL180LEDW in accordance with DARAY’s installation manual and local electrical regulations, using a qualified installer.
  • Ensure the wall structure and fixings meet the load requirements for the arm and light-head before mounting.
  • Connect the unit to the specified mains power supply (typically 230 V, 50 Hz) via an appropriate fused circuit as per manufacturer instructions.
  • After installation, use the spring-balanced arm to position the light-head above the treatment field, ensuring the beam covers the required area.
  • Switch the light on using the control on the light-head, and adjust the variable intensity from 0% to 100% to achieve the desired illumination level.
  • During procedures, reposition the arm and light-head as required using one-handed adjustments, avoiding contact with the illuminated sterile field.
  • After use, switch off the light and return the arm to a parked position to avoid accidental impact.
  • Clean the smooth, fully enclosed head and arm regularly with approved disinfectants compatible with BioProtect antimicrobial finishes, following DARAY’s cleaning guidance.
  • Perform routine visual checks of cables, arm joints and fixings, and arrange periodic servicing according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and local policies.
